You’re probably thinking to yourself “she’s absolutely mental, using cooking oil on her skin”
…and yes, you are 100% correct, ha ha. I have tried everything under the sun to help control my skin disorder. I’ve had some crazy idea’s too. One time I collected all my used Tetley teabags and dunked them into the bath. I had around 50 recycled teabags floating around on the water surface, ha ha. Crazy bitch! My teabag bath never made a difference in the slightest and made me feel minging but hey, desperate measures and all, it was worth a try! God loves a trier, right? 😊
What I have discovered in the 23 years of being a psoriasis beauty, is that natural products work so much better at healing my psoriasis than chemical ointments’, lotions and creams which doctors and dermatologists’ have prescribed for me in the past. The last time I used any prescribed medication and lotions to treat my psoriasis was in 2008; 7 long years ago. My GP gave me Dovenex and Oilatum bath emollient. My skin cleared up as always and after I stopped using… BOOM, came back with a vengeance. Since then I decided not to use any chemicals on my skin and instead, opt for the natural route.
One glorious day, I was out food shopping and cooking oil was on my shopping list. Browsing through the billion, zillion types of different oils I came across Flora’s 100% Sunflower Oil. I had a flashback to some ignored advice I received from a work friend. My fellow barmaid, Christine had psoriasis too and advised me to use vegetable cooking oil or sunflower cooking oil for a two-week experiment and she guaranteed I would be happier with my skin at the end. Why I never took her advice back then I don’t know. So thank you for the advice Christine ha ha. Eight years later. 😊
That evening, I had a lovely Sunflower Oil bath and after soaking for 5 minutes I knew the oil was working brilliantly. My skin felt like silk so I bathed for an extra 25 minutes to let the oil do its magic. I added a sprinkle of table salt into the warm water and made sure my hair was tied up. (although oil is good for the hair too, bathing in any type of oil will make your hair very greasy and will need to be washed multiple times) It’s a bloody nightmare to wash out.
After my first sunflower oil bath my silver scales became see-through and my red patches where calmer and paler in appearance, making them less noticeable. After continuous daily use my psoriasis is almost non-existent. I have lots of psoriasis products I need to review and my boyfriend has been calling me a fraud for blogging about psoriasis when my skin is clearing up. Ha ha. I use the oil every day now in my bath and really wish I had taken before and after pictures for you to see. On day one of using the oil, before I bathed in it. I was covered in hundreds of small, itchy red guttate patches. Especially on my abdomen and feet. Today, although I still have a few small spots here and there, my skin looks calmer, less noticeable and feels silky soft plus 80% of my psoriasis has definitely cleared up over the last few weeks. I’m so, so happy to find something that works. Woohoooooo!!! 😂
I 1000000000000% recommended you all try Flora’s Sunflower Oil or any brand of sunflower oil for that matter. It really has done amazing things for my poor skin. I’ve been so excited writing this post as I wanted to share my wonderful words about sunflower oil and hopefully help others.
Please, please, please give it a try. Trust me. For around £1 (bought from Home Bargains) this oil is definitely my best skin care buy EVER and I can’t remember the last time my skin looked and felt so amazing. ❤
Please note that sunflower oil will NOT cure your psoriasis but will help control it. Keep in mind that this is my personal review and my thoughts on sunflower oil. What works for me may not work for you. Everybody’s skin behaves differently to various skin care products. 😊
