Vaseline® Active Fresh Anti-Perspirant Deodorant With ProDerma – Review

I’ve got another deodorant review for you today. Because I have fragrance sensitivities I am always on the hunt for a deodrant that I like which doesn’t cause me violent headaches so I often prefer roll-on deodarants over aerosols because they are less likely to cause migraines. I thought I would give the Vaseline Active Fresh deodorant a try as it is alcohol free which means it is anti sting and not likely to irritate my sensitive skin. I’ve used tons of products from Vaseline in the past and I have never had a problem with any of their stuff so I thought I’d give this a whirl.

What is it?

It is a 150ml aerosol deodorant manufactured by Vaseline with a ProDerma complex which helps to protect the underarm skin which is very delicate. It is also suitable for sensitive skin and has been dermatologically tested as well as being alcohol free so it doesn’t sting and it doesn’t dry the skin on your armpits. Vaseline also say it is long lasting and it will give 48hours protection.

Vaseline say:

While sweating is a natural reaction to a rise in temperature it can often result in sweat marks, odour, and even discolouration of your clothes. In order to manage your body’s response, we have designed the Vaseline® Active Fresh Anti-Perspirant with ProDerma™ technology, a unique blend of skin-caring ingredients, which mimics the skin’s own protective layer and make it less prone to irritation. It keeps you dry all day and cares for your underarm resulting in healthy looking protected skin.

First impressions:

Just a simple 150ml aerosol bottle with the typical Vaseline packaging. Bottle looks fresh and modern but nothing special. I did notice that it doesn’t have the cruelty free bunny on the back of the bottle but the packaging can be recycled.

Why did I like it?

I liked it because it is alcohol free so it didn’t sting after applying like most deodorants do. It has a nice, fresh, mild scent that isn’t too overpowering and because I’m sensitive to most artificial fragrances and chemicals (the reason I prefer ‘natural’ toiletries) I often get migraines after using most deodorants, I’m happy to say that the scent didn’t cause me any major headaches. I did feel a little brain fog after using it but it didn’t last very long. My underarms also felt amazingly soft and protected too and it I’m happy to say that it didn’t irritate my sensitive skin. It did what it said on the tin and I found it to be long lasting and my pits smelt nice and fresh the next day after using it. The fresh scent lingered on the skin too and I could still smell it the next day.

What I didn’t like?

Nothing really, except that Unilever is the manufacture of Vaseline products and I’m sure that the company tests on animals so I would feel a million times better if this deodorant had the leaping cruelty free bunny on the bottle but unfortunately it hasn’t. So if you are strongly against testing on animals I would look elsewhere as I’m guessing this is not cruelty free.

Will I use again?

Yes, I liked it; it worked at keeping my armpits dry and kept body odour at bay for well over 48 hours without causing a full blown migraine or irritating my underarm skin. It smells very nice too and I love how soft my armpits feel after using it so I probably would buy it again, yes.

Where to buy?

You can get this deodarant almost aywhere, for example: Boots, Superdrug, Asda etc… Amazon UK sell it too!

Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm Tin – Review

Ladies, gents…

Chapped lips are a pain in the arse aren’t they? My lips are ALWAYS chapped and it’s so annoying, especially when they begin to peel, which hurts like hell and they look so sore and unattractive. I have tried numerous lip balms, butters and lip scrubs over the years and nothing has worked for me in the long run, my chapped lips always come back so I needed something that would seriously sort my lips out. After one of my lovely followers recommended I try the Beeswax Lip Balm from Burt’s Bees – I went ahead and bought myself the 8.5g tin version of the Beeswax Lip Balm tube as it looked super cute and I just loved the little tin.

What is it?

Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm is a natural lip conditioner that has been soothing dry, lips since 1991. Beeswax and antioxidant Vitamin E condition skin, for a soothing lip treatment. A final hint of peppermint oil provides a refreshing tingle. The result is a smooth, supple smile everyone will be buzzing about. This lip balm tin fits in your purse or pocket for dry lip therapy anytime, anyplace. Spread on a little TLC with Burt’s Bees moisturising lip balm.

cera alba (beeswax, cire d’abeille), cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, prunus amygdalus dulcis (sweet almond) oil, mentha piperita (peppermint) oil, lanolin, tocopherol, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf extract, glycine soja (soybean) oil, canola oil (huile de colza), limonene

First of all, when I ordered this online, I thought the tin would be quite big but when it arrived I was shocked at how small the tin was. It was tiny! There is a 4.5g tube/stick version of this lip balm which is the same price as the 8.5g tin so you do get more for your money, woo-hoo… plus you get a pretty little tin. It is non-greasy balm which is heat resistant and doesn’t melt, run or slide all over your face throughout the day. It deeply hydrates the lips and it smells minty fresh, leaving a slight tingling on the lips after applying. It also seems to be waterproof too and after drinking and eating the balm stayed put and didn’t slide off like other lip balms do.

I disliked how it takes a lot of elbow grease and finger rubbing to get even the tiniest amount of balm on the lips. You need to rub the balm about ten times with your finger to get a fair amount. This annoyed the hell out of me so I ended up using a little lip brush to make things easier and more hygienic plus it kept my fingers clean. It is more hygenic to use a lip brush to avoid contamination to the balm which will make your lips a million time worse so I do recommend using a lip brush for the tin.

It did heal my chapped lips instantly and I was happy that I could wear my matte lipsticks without my lips looking cracked and flaky. It is probably the best balm I have tried for my lips and it really does work. I no longer have sore, chapped lips after using this so I do recommend it and I would buy it again, definitely.

Where to buy?

I got mine here on Amazon UK for £3.42

What’s your favourite lip balm?

Candlemaking Craft Kit – House Of Crafts – Review

Hey ladies!

This one is for the crafters and candle obsessives out there. I had so much fun yesterday making DIY candles with my actual own two hands using the Candlemaking Craft Kit from House Of Craft and I thought I’d fill you guys in and show you what I made. This craft kit was a gift from the boyfriend and I think it is probably the best thing he has ever bought me. Forget designer shoes, forget delicious cupcakes, this girl loves being gifted craft kits! Mikey’s a keeper! 😍

What is it?

‘The craft of candlemaking is a fascinating and absorbing pastime with an endless variety of designs, colours and techniques available. This kit contains all the materials needed to create an elegant and colourful selection of traditional and floating candles with added fragrance.’ – House Of Crafts.

Wax Pellets
Candle Moulds
Coloured Dyes
Fragrance Oil
Bulb Pipette
4 Wick Rods,
Mould Seale,
Instructions (English/French/Italian).

Suitable for vegetarians.

What did I make?

I made these: woohoo!

I thought I would try make jar candles with the leftover wax after making the moulded ones and I actually liked the jars better, I just sealed one end of the candle wick to the inside of the jar using superglue and I then poured the wax into the jars, wrapped the wick around the little ‘lollipop’.

I labelled 3 of the jars with chalkboard stickers, cut them to size and wrote on them with chalk pens. I love them! I really like the jar ones better than the moulded ones.

I got my little jars here. I got the stickers and pens here. My lavender essential oil here, my rosemary essential oil here and my lemon essential oil here.

What did I think?

I loved it! I was browsing on Amazon UK for the individual stuff to make candles and I just didn’t know where to start or what to buy. This kit has give me the confidence and the incentive to buy all the essentials I need to make DIY candles. The instructions were easy to read and follow and it has lots of great tips for decoration too.

I didn’t like the fragrance which was included so I just used it in one candle to see how it smelled, at first it smelled like a strong aftershave but after lighting the ‘fragranced’ candle, it does smell lovely and floral. I used essential oils for my other candles and played around with the 3 dyes to create different coloured candles.

There is a good amount of paraffin wax pellets too and they come packed in a resealable bag. I made about six candles altogether plus two small floating candles.

I struggled with the candle wicks at first as I found it so tricky to pull it through, but after one or two go’s I eventually got the hang of it. Then disaster struck. I forgot to place the mould sealant (blu tak) at the bottom of the tray before I poured the liquid wax in and it leaked a little bit, so if you do decide to buy this, make sure you remember to seal it beforehand so you don’t lose any melted wax. If you have any jars, you could use them if you prefer!

I think they look great considering it was my first time making DIY candles and I do love the funky shapes and especially my little jars! After lighting them I just sat back and admired my handy work, I was so proud of myself and my apartment looked like a cathedral. I loved it! Haha. They burned slow, so they lasted quite a while and they smell so beautiful too and look pretty when they are lit.

Who I’d recommend it for?

Definitely beginners! This is not a kit for someone who already knows the ins and outs of candlemaking but it is a great starter kit for those new to candlemaking and it would make an amazing gift for anybody who loves candles, DIY craft projects and those wishing to learn the basics.

Where to buy it?

On Amazon UK – I got mine here.

Who would love to make their own candles?

Blueberry Cranberry Oxygen Facial Scrub from Derma Nu – #Skincare Review

I have got the Oxygen Facial Scrub from Derma NU here. Derma Nu are another American beauty brand who sell here in the UK and they have some amazing skincare products for both men and women. Check out their website here. I was gifted the scrub for review purposes about two weeks ago now and I have used it a couple of times already. So, lets get a move on with this review, hey!

What is it?

Derma Nu say the scrub is:

  • Loaded with blueberries, cranberries and vitamin C which infuses the skin with powerful anti-oxidants fighting the signs of aging.
  • It GENTLY exfoliates while oxygenating the skin with vitamins and minerals found in the detoxifying berries and herbs that make up this scrub.
  • Pomegranate, rhubarb and dandelion lend their youthening bioflavonoids to this blend, while jojoba beads, olive and hibiscus decongest the pores and exfoliate the skin for smoother, younger and glowing skin.
  • The scrub is formulated with 70% organic ingredients, this plant-based anti-aging Facial Scrub has the highest percentage of natural and active ingredients for maximum potency.
  • Paraben free and non-comdogenic.
  • Not tested on animals.

First Imressions

When I first seen the tub, I didnt think much of it to be honest. It is a small 50ml, semi-opaque plastic tub and it has a grey shimmery screw top lid. It looks inexpensive, quite plain and it’s really nothing special, appearance wise.

After screwing off the lid and seeing the ‘scrub’ for the first time, I thought ‘eugh!’ – It really doesn’t look appealing at all! – It is brownish in colour and has a grainy, jelly like texture! I put my nose to the inside of the tub to check it wasn’t something it shouldn’t be and I was delighted when I got a lovely whiff of berries and not something else, phew!

It really does smell very nice and fruity and I think it is down to the cranberry essence. So, although it doesn’t look pretty – it smells quite good. Plus my lovely Mum has always taught me to never judge a book by it’s cover – so I went ahead and used it anyway, hoping it would work better than it looked!

Good things…

  • it smells fruity
  • very gentle on sensitive skin
  • amazing ingredients, a few are organic
  • enriched with many organic ingredients and natural oils
  • rich in vitamin C, aloe vera and amino acids

Bad things…

  • it doesn’t look appealing
  • it looks like shit, lets be honest
  • at £14 it is a bit on the expensive side
  • on the Derma Nu website they say the scrub will look like this:

(completely different to the brown one that I received)

Most facial scrubs I use are harsh on my sensitive skin and I often find my skin feeling delicate and a little sore but after using this on my face the exfoliatting were gentle abrasive on my skin. After washing it off my skin, I was left with a soft, smooth and moisturised face and after using a few times over a weeks course, my complexion brightened up and it helped to remove dead skin cell build-up on my face.

I’m quite pleased with the ingredients too, there are a-lot of organic ingredients in there and plenty of natural oils which are proven skin saviours. Organic Aloe Vera is quite high up in the list and it also contains Cranberry, Blueberry, Pomegranate, Rhubarb and Tangerine essential oils too so there is a lot of goodness in the facial scrub.

Most exfolliating scrubs contain harmful plastic microbeads but Derma Nu have used olive seeds, jojoba beads and hibiscus buds as the abrasives instead so skin is being is exfoliated gently and safetly with natural ingredients which is great!

This Oxygen Facial Scrub is definately something I’ll be using in the future. I wouldn’t say I would use it every day but I will use it once a week or whenever my skin needs a pick-me-up or it is looking dull and tired. It is only a small 50ml tub but a little bit of the really does go a long way so I would imagine it to last a while.

What I loved most: The lovely berry scent still lingered on my skin for hours afterwards, leaving it smelling of blueberry muffins! Yum!

You can buy the Blueberry Cranberry Oxygen Facial Scrub from Derma Nu here. It is £14.27 for a 50ml tub.
If you are from the USA you can get it here for $15.95.

Soothing Anti-Perspirant Roll-On Deodorant from Simple – Review

I bought this roll-on deodorant a while back and I have hardly used it as I found another that I liked better. When I bought this, I was looking for a new roll on deodorant because I prefer them to aerosols. When comparing with the other roll-on deodorants sitting on the shelves, I chose this one because on the bottle it said it contained no perfume.

I was going out for food with my boyfriend last night and I had a mini panic attack when I saw my Dove roll-on was empty and dry as a bone. Luckily for my pits, I remembered that I still had this deodorant so it came in handy for a night.

So what is it?

It is an anti-perspirant roll-on deodorant from British skincare brand, Simple. Simple say the roll-on is kind to skin, suitable for sensitive skin, soothes irritated skin and contains no perfume, colour and no animal derived ingredients. It has been formulated with a skin soothing anti-irritant and it has been dermatologically tested and approved.

Why I’m using it?

Like I said before, I bought this roll-on because it was fragrance-free. I am very sensitive to artificial parfum so I prefer to buy roll-on deodorants as they don’t seem to smell as strong as aerosol ones and less likely to give me a migraine. Plus, I have used lots of other products from Simple in the past and I had amazing results with their cleanser, toner and moisturiser.

What did I think?

I really don’t like it but it was to hand in an emergency so I used it. It has the strongest chemical smell ever which is very similar to hand sanitizer gel, (what visitors use in hospitals to kill germs, bacteria and stop viruses spreading to patients). To be completely honest, it felt like I was rubbing vodka into my armpits!

After using it on my pits they felt sticky and it took ages to dry, feeling wet and slimy on my skin. Simple say it is ‘kind to skin’ and suitable for sensitive skin but I had a slight stinging/burning sensation for a short while after applying it. The packaging is nice and fresh though I do like that, but it’s probably the only thing I do like!

Another thing it contains some questionable ingredients which I wouldn’t have thought Simple would use as for some reason I always had the impression they were a natural skincare brand! I was completely wrong – there is nothing ‘natural’ at all about this deodorant.

Experts in sensitive skin? My arse.

Will I buy it again?

Has anyone else used this? Do you rate it or hate it?

  • it’s probably the best moisturiser I have used in a long, long time

  • contains parfum which is one ingredient that I dislike but it does smells lovely and pleasant, so what the hell.

Key ingredients include:

British wildflower honey

British blackcurrant seed oil

Hyaluronic acid

British raspberry seed oil

Shea butter

British beeswax

British propolis (extract)

Pepha-tight (derived from algae extract)

Full ingredients list:
Aqua (Water), Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Glycerides, Butylene Glycol, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Mel (Honey), Glyceryl Stearate SE, Coconut Alkanes, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Ribes Nigrum (Black Currant) Seed Oil, Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Seed Oil, Cera Alba (Beeswax), Propolis Extract, Algae Extract, Cetearyl Alcohol, Benzyl Alcohol, Pullulan, Sodium Stearoyl Glutamate, Carbomer, Phenoxyethanol, Limonene, Alcohol Denat. (SD Alcohol 40-B), Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, Sodium Hyaluronate, Parfum (Fragrance), Sodium Hydroxide, Sodium Stearate, Dehydroacetic Acid, Tin Oxide, Linalool, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, CI 77019 (Mica), CI 77891 (Titanium Dioxide).

Oh, I just love it! My skin looked fabulous after just one application and I really have fell in love with it.😍😍😍 Although it’s suitable for all skin types and all ages, I can definately see why it has been recommended for aging and mature skin as it really has made my skin look younger and more youthful. I’m 29 years old, I hate to admit it but I’m getting on a bit. The last few years I have been scrutinizing my face for fine lines and wrinkles and feeling sad about aging so I’m happy that this moisturiser has plumped my skin and appears to have ‘filled in’ my fine lines. This is the most amazing part: I have a deep frown line between my eyebrows which I absolutely HATE because it makes me feel insecure about my appearance, I’ve even contemplated botox but I’m a needle phobe so and I’ve gotta say how happy I am with this and I will DEFINATELY be purchasing the full sized bottle.

I also have the palest skin ever! It is the kind of skin tone that reminds people they need to buy a pint milk. It has a greyish, dull undertone so I often look poorly. I depend on foundations and blushers to make me look healthy instead of a corpse, haha and this has added a bit of colour to my face, it hasn’t give me a tan but what it has done is warmed my skin tone up a notch making my skin look dewy and illuminous. I one million percent recommend this!

Get the Plump & Firm Moisturiser here.

Has anyone else tried this? Do you think it was the ‘bees knees’ like I did?

Which Bee Good product should I try next?

Review: ‘Lolita’ Velvet Lippie – Absolute New York

Hey dolls,

I got this a liquid lippie a few months ago in one of my GLOSSYBOX’s and I have been meaning to review it as I have actually worn it quite a couple of times now and it’s nearing empty. It is a buttery matte lip cream for Absolute New Yorks Velvet Lippie collection. I got the the shade LOLITA in my box which is very pink and very pretty. There are 24 shades to choose from and after seeing some swatches on YouTube I’m liking shade TERRACOTTA a-lot. (I like my nudes.) I love the blue shades SURFS UP and LAGOON too, they are not usually colours I’d choose as they are a bit daring and wild but I think they look fab! They look like they were made especially for mermaids! Gorgeous!

The Velvet Lippies retail at around £4.95.

I love my pink lippies so I instantly liked the pretty pink shade LOLITA. In the tube it reminded me of a pin-up pink shade. The packaging isn’t anything special, it is a simple looking transparent tube with a black screw lid, pretty basic.

It has a pleasantly mild scent (thanks to artificial fragrance), it smells like vanilla a bit but it’s not overpowering, it’s very subtle. It doesn’t taste of anything either.

First time I used this I did what I always do, rub my lips together which I shouldn’t have! It made the colour patchy and uneven and I had to apply more. It’s best to apply the colour to your lips and keep them parted until they dry matte. It looks cheap too, the applicator especially. It is so tiny and flimsy and it doesn’t hold much product or doesnt transfer much colour to the lips so you have to keep dipping it back in and out and in and out to build the colour up and make it even.

I really wouldn’t say this was buttery at all. It does feel creamy though. I have a bottom lip lobe and a few lines and wrinkles which have crept up the last few years and this did accenturate them and they became more noticeable the longer I wore it. It dried my lips out too.

It is a really beautiful colour isn’t it, it’s almost like a pinky, lilac, lavender colour and it feels creamy and velvety when applied to the lips and it spreads like a lip gloss would but it dries  matte.

It also made my lips appear fuller and more plump so I really love it for that alone and to say it is quite cheap, it is well pigmented and long-lasting; I can keep this on for a couple of hours without needing to top up.

I didn’t look at the price before trying the lippie on and afterwards I guessed the Velvet Lippie would be priced at around £1-£3. To be honest the only thing I liked about it was the colour, the fact I prefer matte lips, the beautiful pinky, lilac colour and how my lips appeared plumper. I have loved wearing it the last few weeks as I think it really brightens my ‘Casper’ complexion up, giving my pale skin a lovely pop of colour. It really is a gorgeous shade for Spring and Summer. Another thing, it did dry my lips out a bit and it really accentuates fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth and it makes chapped lips look a million times worse. AVOID if you have chapped, dry and flaky lips! I was cursed with chapped lips last week after over using my lip plumper (oops) and the colour looked awful on my lips so I had to get the lip balm and lip scrubs out to give me a perfect smooth base.

So, final words. It is a pretty colour for Spring and Summer, it’s cheap, has long staying power and it makes lips appear plumper.

Do you like it?

Have you tried any of the other Velvet Lippie shades? Which ones?

Peace out girls!

How To Turn A Cardboard Box Into A Fabric Covered Storage Box

I shop online quite often and I suppose you could say I was a lazy cow, ahem… a very busy woman.

Online shopping is fast, you get deals, promotion codes, have an in-depth view of what’s on sale and you don’t need to trek miles and miles to get your shopping. Not to mention getting spotted by the girl you try to avoid because you know she can talk for England and you got shit to do, places to be. Then, you have tons of shopping to carry all the way back home. I’d rather get someone else to do my dirty work. 😂

Plus delivery is often free too, (or around the same price as travel costs) so what’s to lose.

Having an online shopping addiction can get embarrassing. I get deliveries every single day and the delivery man must think I am a millionaire with the amount of stuff I get delivered, little does he know I have spent a whole months wage on complete junk and I’m living off beans on toast for the rest of the month, but I play the game and I let him think I am rich… 😂 Online shopping is wonderful thing but the piles of cardboard boxes which I have to tear up and recycle each day has become a pain in the bum!

The moral of the story is: I have a-lot of cardboard boxes, little bin space, no room left in my recycling bins and neither has my neighbour who still hasn’t found out who the box culprit is, I’m a cheeky cow! He-he!

So with the boxes I’ve been stuck with, I thought I would up-cycle, transform and revamp a few of them into trendy storage boxes.

DIY Beauty Project: Detox Your Skin With A Bentonite Clay Bath – Great For Psoriasis

clay bath

I’m going to show you all how you can detox your mind, body and soul by taking a bentonite clay bath which will eliminate all toxins and impurities from your skin making you a healthier, happier person with cleansed beautiful skin.

The internet is an amazing place for knowledge isn’t it. I have learned so much more from the internet than I ever did at school and thanks to google I have taught myself all about the amazing health benefits bentonite clay has. After learning how it can help not only the skin but mind, body and soul – I knew I had to use it more often, not just as a face mask.

I came across a post online about the benefits of taking regular clay baths and I couldn’t wait to give it a try. I’ve never had a clay bath before, I have never had a detox of any kind before but I have lost count of how many clay face masks I’ve had in the past so this was something completely new to me. After taking just a couple of clay baths, I can already see and feel the benefits of it and it is something I will be doing a lot of from now on. Maybe twice, three times weekly.

What is bentonine clay?

“Bentonite, also referred to as Montmorillonite, is one of the most effective and powerful healing clays. Bentonite can be used externally as a clay poultice, mud pack or in the bath and, in skin care recipes. A good quality Bentonite should be a grey/cream color and anything bordering “pure white” is suspect. It has a very fine, velveteen feel and is odorless and non-staining. Bentonite is a swelling clay. When it becomes mixed with water it rapidly swells open like a highly porous sponge. From here the toxins are drawn into the sponge through electrical attraction and once there, they are bound.” – Mountain Rose Herbs

What Is a clay bath?

A clay bath is a bath with clay mixed in. It helps to eliminate toxins from the skin and body absorbing them into the water. When the clay is mixed with the water it will look dirty and similar to a muddy puddle but I can assure you it’s clean as can be. The very first time I used bentonite clay in my bath, I thought I would feel dirty and minging afterwards because of the colour of the water but I have never, ever, ever felt so clean and pristine after taking a bath in my whole life. It beats a normal bath any-day!

What can a bentonite clay bath do?

Eliminate toxins and heavy metals in the body

Removes impurities from the skin

Boosts immune system

Deep cleanses the skin

Calms and reduces symptoms of psoriasis, eczema and other skin disorders

Helps clear acne and pimples

Speeds healing of cuts, wounds etc…

Helps to cool and soothe insect bites

Prevents & removes blackheads, whiteheads etc…

Reduces stress and anxiety

Calms skin allergies

Stimulates the lymph system

Soothes sunburn and sun rash

Gentle detoxification with no side effects

Relieves headaches

Relieves body aches

Great for fatigue

How to make a clay bath?

I ran a hot bath and sprinkled 1 cup of bentonite clay into the water, stirring well and making sure to squish any clumps of clay sat at the bottom of the bath, allowing it to melt into the water.

For first timers I would advise adding one cup of powder to your bath and for an intense detox add 2 or maybe 3 cups of clay. I wouldn’t add any more than 3 though as you may suffer from stressful detox symptoms.

Fill the bath up just enough to cover your whole body, the hotter the water the better as this will open your pores thus making it quicker and easier for toxins and impurities to be eliminated and absorbed into the water.

Bathe for no more than 30 minutes. As all the toxins are pulled from your body and absorbed into the water, I wouldn’t advise soaking for longer than this. I have heard people take intense hour-long clay baths but this is not something I have tried, YET.

All you gotta do is lie down in the bath, soak, close your eyes, put some relaxing music on, chill out and get detoxing!

Do’s & Don’ts:

Don’t soak in the clay bath for longer than 30 minutes. Lying in a detox bath for half an hour or more can cause over-detox symptoms such as feeling light-headed dehydrated, nauseous and weak. Same goes for the amount of clay you use in your bath too. I’d say anything from 1-3 cups of clay is ideal and won’t cause your body any stress.

Be careful not to slip in the bath tub. Clay, when mixed with water becomes very, very slippy so take care.

Drink a glass of water before and after your bath as this will keep you hydrated.

Tie your hair up in a bun or pony-tail or wear a shower cap when bathing. The clay can make your hair feel crap for days afterwards and dry it out. If clay does come in contact with your hair just wash it with a clarifying shampoo and condition it afterwards. The clay won’t harms your hair in any way but it will make it feel rough!

Don’t drink the clay water. I know you guys aren’t stupid and you obviously won’t drink the clay water but try to keep your hands away from your mouth when bathing. After sitting in the water for 30 minutes or more it becomes saturated with the toxins from your body so the water is toxic, so you really don’t want to swallow any of it.

Where to buy bentonite clay?

The clay I have been using for my clay baths is the Deep Pore Exfoliator 100% Bentonite Clay and I order it here from Natural Supplies for £12.99.

It is a huge 1kg tub and contains nothing but 100% pure bentonite clay. It can be used for face masks, clay baths, body wraps and foot masks. It has been sun-dried, is also cruelty-free and contains no fragrance, chemicals or additives.

I have some bentonite clay from Majestic Pure, but as it is a much smaller tub than the clay from Natural Supplies, so I prefer to use it just for my face masks.

So who else loves to detox their body with a clay bath? Has anyone with psoriasis tried one? It seems to be helping my skin!

Handmade Gifts: How To Up-Cycle Old Coffee Jars Into Pretty Little Vases

Girls, girls, girls….

When I first started this blog just over a year ago, I had intentions of mainly posting about sewing, craft and DIY projects but somehow my blog has turned into an all beauty, all skincare blog, how did that happen, eh!  I love beauty blogging but craft is a BIG hobby of mine. I have just been browsing through my huge list of drafts and came across this little post about recycling coffee jars and turning them into pretty gifts. I thought I would post it anyhow even though it has been sitting in my drafts folder for a whole year, just waiting to be published.

Now, thanks to YouTube craft vloggers and Pinterest, I am the type of girl who throws NOTHING away and in my boyfriends own words I am an obsessive compulsive hoarder who needs psychological help, ha-ha! He does exaggerates just a bit and the fool has joked too many a time that I should choose him or the ‘junk’. Well, Michael… it’s safe to say you are still here and so is the ‘junk’, so one nil to me, sunshine! He-he!

I do tend to keep jars a-lot and I find it so hard to throw out food and coffee jars once they are empty as I always think they can be recycled and will come in handy one day.

I simply wash them out, take off the labels and store them away for when I’m feeling creative. Maybe, it’s true and I am a hoarder but I’ll tell you one thing, I have the best times ever when I am ‘creating’ little masterpieces.

I made this sparkly jar for my beautiful Mum and she loved it, she said it looked very pretty and I agree. I washed and dried an empty Mellow Birds coffee jar. Measured around the jar and cut a few diamante ribbons to length to fit. I brushed a bit of Modge Podge glue along the length of the diamante ribbon and placed it onto the jar, holding it for a minute so it stuck, then I just wrapped a gift tag around the neck of the bottle and put some flowers into it with a little water at the bottom. My Mum loved it! Especially because it was a hand-made gift which have more sentiment than store-bought gifts, don’t you think!

For these two jars I just used what I had in my craft box, more diamante ribbon, thick ribbon, thin ribbon and a Lipsy ribbon which I got with a dress I bought, also I had a pink leather One  Direction bracelet which I got for my niece but it was way too big for her so I cut it up and added that too. See… you should never throw things out because everything can be recycled. Ha!

What I used & where to buy:

A recycled coffee jar.

Pretty daffodils.

You can get some Modge Podge here.

Thick ribbons here.

Thin ribbons here.

Pretty printed ribbons here.

Diamante ribbons here.

Gift tags here.

For those wanting to know I bought the 1D bracelet here.

I hope you have enjoyed reading my post. I am definitely going to be posting more sewing, craft and DIY projects in the future!

Coconut Milk Body Scrub from Pure Body Naturals – Review

This week, I’ve put my coffee scrubs aside to try out the Coconut Milk Body Scrub from Pure Body Naturals who are another natural, cruelty-free brand based in America. They have a huge collection of fabulous skincare products, hair care products, essential oils and beauty accessories and they are fast becoming one of my favourite brands.

The Coconut Milk Body Scrub is rich in fatty acids and vitamins A, B and E, leaving your skin feeling nourished. Dead Sea Salt is a natural exfoliator which removes a build up of dead skin cells allowing fresh new skin to appear, making your complexion look amazing. It helps to protect skin from UV radiation and it also reduces symptoms of psoriasis, eczema and other skin conditions. The scrub is full to the brim with natural ingredients and fast-absorbing oils which all soften and moisturise the skin without irritating it. It can be used on both the face and body and because of the high content of oils and vitamins it works brilliantly as an amazing anti-ageing treatment, helping to minimize fine lines and wrinkles. Thanks to the coconut milk it has a fabulous creamy texture with the slightest hint of coconut.

The ingredients are:

Coconut Milk, Sea Salt, Almond Oil, Safflower Oil, Sunflower Oil, Grapeseed Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil, Avocado Oil, Dead Sea Salt, Vitamin E.

What I thought?

I love coconut beauty products and this scrub makes me love coconut even more! As you all probably know already, I have psoriasis (very mild at the mo), so I’m super prone to dry skin especially on my knees and elbows. I haven’t noticed any change to my psoriasis just yet though. It hasn’t cleared my skin up but I suppose it’s still early days, eh! It has removed a few scales and softened my dry skin tremendously, it feels great! To use, you just simply scoop a bit of the coconut salt into your hands and apply it to wet skin, gently massaging in circular motions. After exfoliating and removing dead skin cells my skin feels so clean and soft and I slather loads of Fractioned Coconut Oil all over my body to make it super smooth and extra moisturised.

Even though it is a small 340g tub I reckon you will get 20+ full body treatments out of one tub, if not more. It all depends how much you apply to your skin each time and how often you use it. I have used it 4-5 times in a week and as you can see there is still lots of scrub left in the tub.

What I love the most about the Coconut Milk Body Scrub is that it contains absolutely nothing but natural, pure ingredients so I don’t need to worry about artificial ingredients which make my psoriasis a million times worse.

I will definitely be buying more when I run out!

Where to buy?

Amazon UK: here. £14.95 | American girls can get it on the Pure Body Naturals website.

Who else loves Pure Body Naturals?

Review: The Best ‘Glycolic Cleanser’ EVER EVER from InstaNatural

Ladies, Gents….

I think I have found the best facial cleanser EVER!

It is a Glycolic Cleanser from an American skincare brand, InstaNatural, who have a huge collection of natural skincare & hair products that have all been made cruelty-free. I’ve been using the cleanser for just over a month now and I really, really, really like it a-lot! I have been using it twice daily; in the morning and again in the evening and because I like it so much – I have added it to My Favourite Products.

What InstaNatural Say:

‘Our deep cleansing Glycolic Cleanser uses the exfoliating benefits of Glycolic Acid to break down dulling build up, helping to soften and brighten the skin. Infused with natural calming extracts and collagen supporting Arginine, this cleanser helps reduce the appearance of pores, signs of aging, and discoloration.’

Glycolic Acid removes pore clogging skin cells that can cause skin to breakout

Arginine supports the production of collagen, which helps the skin appear firmer and lessens the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles

Exfoliating ingredients increase cell turnover, helping to slough away dulling skin cells and reduce the appearance of fine lines and discoloration

Soothing extracts provide antioxidant support to guard skin against irritation and daily aggressors

Gentle cleansers remove excess oil and debris without stripping or drying the skin

First Impressions:

The cleanser came in a outer box which was attractive looking and pretty enough to be given as a gift to someone. The cleanser itself was in a recycable plastic bottle with a silver, dispensable lid. There is a generous 200ml of product in the bottle and because you only need to use a small amount each time, one bottle will last quite a while. My bottle is still half full even after a month of using it twice daily. The cleanser has a semi-gel like, runny consitency and it is clear, transparent and free from artificial dyes.

Full Ingredients:
Water (Aqua), Decyl Glucoside*, Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine*, Lauryl Glucoside*, Sclerotium Gum*, Glycolic Acid, Sodium Hydroxypropylsulfonate Lauryl-Glucoside Crosspolymer*, Glycerin*, Coco-Glucoside*, Propanediol*, Xanthan Gum*, Phenylpropanol*, Glyceryl Oleate*, Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate*, Hydrolyzed Jojoba Esters*, Arginine (L-Arginine)*, Potassium Sorbate*, Caprylyl Glycol, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower/Leaf (Chamomile) Extract, Saccharum Officinarum (Sugar Cane) Extract, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Peel Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf (Green Tea) Extract, Camellia Oleifera Leaf Extract, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Lactic Acid*.
*Naturally Derived

What is Glycolic Acid?

Glycolic Acid is an Alpha Hydroxy Acid which has been naturally derived from sugar cane. It works by removing dead skin cells, thus bringing fresh, new skin to the surface. Because the cleanser contains AHA’s, it will increase skin sensitivity to sunlight so it is recommended to use a suncreen and limit sun exposure whilst using it. The percentage of Glycolic Acid within the cleanser is unknown and InstaNatural say they can’t disclose this information as it is proprietary and what makes their formula unique. Come on InstaNatural, spill the beans.

Directions: Apply a small amount to dampened skin, massaging gently to create a lather. Concentrate on troubled areas, such as the t-zone. Rinse with water. Follow with appropriate serum and moisturizer. For best results, remove makeup before use.’

What I thought about it?

I love it! It has seriously improved the apperance of my skin.I have noticed a huge difference in my complexion which was dull and appeared dry and de-hydrated before I started using it. The very first time I used it, my complexion was brighter, appeared radiant and my skin looked plumper and super clean. It did leave a little shine on my face but my skin didn’t appear oily or greasy, instead it looked raidiant and kind of glowing, I liked it. Since I began using it I haven’t had any pimples or spots show up on my face either and no blackheads have shown up either, overall my skin looks healthier. I love how my skin looks and feels after using it. I have to mention it seems to have knocked a few years of my age too and I think my skin looks more youthful, ha! Glycolic Acid has actually been recommended as an anti-ageing treatment and I can definately see why!

What I didn’t like?

The only thing I didn’t like about the cleanser was the smell. I’m not a big fan of it! It is quite a mild scent which does smell natural, herby and plant based but it’s not my cup of tea, whatever it is! I wouldn’t say it was repulsive, it is just that my nose doesn’t find it pleasant and the two don’t get along. Saying that, I have seen other reviews of this Glycolic Cleanser and there are many people who actually like how it smells so maybe it’s just me. So… yeah, the scent doesn’t appeal to me but it definetly won’t and hasn’t put me off using it.

It is quite expensive too I think. It was priced at £49 a few weeks ago but it’s around £20 now as they have put it on sale, I’m not sure how long the sale is on for either but it better be for good as there is no way I’m paying £49 for a cleanser. I’d rather have crap skin to be honest. Ha!

Will I use or buy it again?

Big fat YES! I have already bought another bottle since! My skin is looking amazing so I’m happy!

You can get it on Amazon. UK: here. It is £19.97. | American girls can get it here.

Has anyone used Glycolic products before? What is the most you have ever spent on skin care?

Aussie Miracle Dry Shampoo (Mega Instant) – Review

I’ve another dry shampoo review for you all!

After my review of Herbal Essences Clearly Naked – Dry Shampoo a few days ago, (which I really didn’t rate that much), I thought I might as well post a little review of Aussie’s Miracle Dry Shampoo (Mega Instant) from Aussie’s MEGA collection which I’ve had sitting in my bathroom for absolutely ages now!

All about it:

‘Did not hear the alarm? running late? hair got the greasies? Stop your worries. This Aussie mega instant miracle dry shampoo you are now clutching is your saviour. No shower required. Just a burst of mega instant and a bit of brush-out brings instant, just-washed Aussie-ness and fragrance to your hair. Now if only you had not put two mismatching shoes on. It contains jojoba seed extract that was used for centuries by the indigenous Australians as it was believed to naturally condition hair.’ – Aussie

First impressions:

The bottle is your typical Aussie hair product, looks wise, and it has the same Aussie design as all of their other products. It is a small 65ml aerosol bottle, much smaller than any others I have used with less product but worry not, there is also a bigger 180ml bottle available too.

Another thing – it smells absolutely gorgeous. 😍

Pros: 👌🏻

It really does smell divine, it is without a doubt the lovliest, sweetest scent that I have ever came across and it makes my hair smell so nice.

The scent has lingered on my hair for quite a while too so it is definately long-lasting.

It has been enriched with Jojoba Seed Extract.

Makes hair feel soft.

After spraying my roots, there was no white powdery substance left on my roots like other dry shampoo’s tend to leave.

Cons: 👊🏻

Although I love how this smells, the gorgeous, lovely scent gives me a headache thanks to the added synthetic fragrance / artificial parfum.

Contains Alcohol Denat which can dry your hair out.

Contains silicones.

Isn’t the greatest for removing oil and grease.

Alcohol Denat, Butane, Propane, Isobutane, Tapioca Starch, Aqua, Silica, Parfum, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Hexyl Cinnamal, Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil, Limonene, Linalool, Benzyl Salicylate

The bottle I have is only a small 65 ml so if you use dry shampoo’s often this will last you no time, you would be better off purchasing the 180ml bottle. I only use dry shampoo’s once in a blue moon so this has lasted me quite a while. I wouldn’t say it was the best dry shampoo for soaking up oil or refreshing greasy hair, I have had better results with Batiste and I do recommend their dry shampoo’s for oily/greasy hair. It did soak a little bit of oil up but not enough to make it appear freshly washed, it was fine for in between washes but if you left your hair for a whole week without washing and used this to control the oil, I reckon your roots would still look greasy.

I do like this dry shampoo mainly because it smells soooo good and leaves my hair feeling soft! It made my hair feel silky and smooth, it also didn’t make my hair any thicker so I think this would work well for girls with very thick or curly hair but not for those with fine hair because it may leave your hair looking flat. My hair didn’t feel dry afterwards either unlike others which leave hair feeling stiff like you have used a whole can of hair spray on it, so hair is still manageable and doesn’t have that ‘talcy’ feel to it.

Now I really like this dry shampoo but because I have fragrance sensitivities (allergic to some artificial fragrances/parfums), the lovely scent causes me to have banging, violent headaches which is a real shame because I do like it and it works well on my hair type. I really do love how it smells but I really don’t like the headaches I get after using it.

Will I use again?

That is a tough one! I would say yes, 100%, but I can’t even look at the bottle without a headache coming on. If you’re not effected by artificial fragrance, great but if you’re like me and can’t handle some artificial fragrances then I’d look for another. So, unfortunately I don’t think I will buy this again. I think I’ll stick with Batiste’s Original Dry Shampoo for the time being.

Does anybody else have fragrance sensitivity? It sucks, right!?

Holika Holika Pig Nose Clear Black Head Perfect Sticker – Review

Hi girlies…

A while back now, I was gifted the 1st Edition BB Mask Bag from Bits & Bobs of Beauty UK which included lots of face masks, neck masks and feet masks along with some other little goodies. Bits & Bobs of Beauty UK are an online British beauty store who sell lots of fabulous Korean beauty products and quirky accessories which you rarely see here in the UK.

One of the items in my BB Mask Bag was a Holika Holika Pig Nose Black Head Sticker and I completely forgot about it until recently when I was sorting out my face mask draw. Yes, I have a draw just for my face masks! He-he! I thought I would give it a go as it has been absolutely ages since I used a blackhead sticker on my nose and I could really do with using one.

Those of you who read my blog regularly will know how much I hate blackheads. I have lots of tiny blackheads and whitehead’s all over my nose and I have been trying so damn hard to get rid of them with no joy. They are not noticeable when I am wearing make-up but I long for beautiful clear skin and I would love to feel confident enough to brave outside without wearing foundation! I really want FLAWLESS skin!

What it is?

‘An easy-to-use, disposable nose strip sticker which removes whiteheads, blackheads, and dead skin cells. Formulated with a pink clay ingredient, it helps absorb sebum and remove unwanted impurities from your nose, leaving it smooth and clear from impurities.

How to use?

I had to use google to find the English instructions for this as the instructions on the back of the sachet were in Korean. I can barely speak English, never mind Korean! Ha!

untitled‘After cleansing, wet the nose with water. Place strip on nose and wait 10-15 minutes. Remove strip, peel off starting from outside edge. Use 1-2 times a week.’ I do advise steaming your face over a bowl of hot water before using the sticker, to open your pores, which will make it easier for blackheads to be removed.

The packaging is so cute and PINK!

It works!

You can see all the crap from your nose on the sticker after removing it.

Information is in Korean which I don’t understand.

Ingredients contain Methylparaben, Dimithicone and PVP.

Key ingredients include Water, PVP, Dimethicone Copolyol, Kaolin, Titanium Dioxide, VP/ VA Copolymer, Propylene Glycol, Methylparaben, Citrus Limon (Lemon) Fruit Extract, CI 17200.

Before using the sticker I did think it wouldn’t work very well as I have literally tried all kinds on my nose and had no results. But, when I peeled the sticker off my nose after 15 minutes, I was surprised that it had worked and I was very pleased with the results. After removing the sticker from my nose I could see a few blackheads had been removed and there were plenty of whiteheads and sebum on the sticker too, they looked like tiny, micro white hairs stuck to the pink clay and I felt so bloody good looking at all the nose junk that had been removed, definitely the best part. I did have a few blackheads on my nose still but less than before and hey, I have only used it once so I’m sure when I use it again there will be less uglies on my nose. My nose definately did appear clearer, I was happy and found it worked well on my nose so I do recommend Holika Holika blackhead stickers.

Will I use again?

Yes, I’d use again. I do try to avoid beauty products which have parabens in as much as possible but saying that I was pleased with the end results.

What is the best blackhead removing sticker yo have used? I am willing to try some new ones out! Operation Blackhead Buster has begun!

Herbal Essences Clearly Naked Dry Shampoo – Review

Hey Chicks,

Last week I was sent Herbal Essences Clearly Naked Dry Shampoo to review and test out on my greasy little head! The Clearly Naked Dry Shampoo has natural Tapioca in it which is a starch that has been extracted from Cassava Root and helps to absorb excess oil in the hair so I was very keen to try it out.

First impressions of the bottle was good. It is a tall 118ml white aerosol bottle which has greyish-silver writing and it features a pop of green with a picture of a peppermint plant. The bottle looks fresh, simple and attractive. It costs about £2.99 for a 118ml bottle which I think is very good value for money!

I really like how it smells too. I have fragrance sensitivity so I often get violent headaches after using products with artificial fragrance in but I had no problem with this one, thankfully! It smells mildly minty and fresh thanks to the Peppermint Oil (Menthol Piperta) and Mentha Arvensis Leaf Oil which has been added to the dry shampoo

Mentha Arvensis

Enter a caption

Alcohol Denat – Butane – Propane – Isobutane – Tapioca Starch – Aqua – Silica – Polymethylsesquioxane – Parfum – Limonene – Linalool – Citronellol – Menthol Piperta Oil – Menthol – Mentha Arvensis Leaf Oil

As you can see it contains no parabens and no colourants which is great! Herbal Essences also say that it contains zero silicone which I found a bit confusing as the ingredients list say it contains polymethylsesquioxane and silica! I’m pretty sure both are silicones? I may be wrong!

It smells really nice

Eliminates odours and refreshes the hair and scalp

It makes hair smell and appear freshly washed

Thickens hair

Soaks up grease and oil

Contains 0% parabens and 0% colourants

Contains artificial fragrance (parfum). Fragrance is used to make products smell better. It works to cover the scent of other ingredients, which may have strong chemical scents.

So, if you only use natural beauty products or if you have fragrant or chemical sensitivities, this dry shampoo is not for you.

Hair felt like I had hair lacquer and talcum powder on it and felt heavy

Hair didn’t feel any softer after using

Proctor & Gamble the manufactures of Herbal Essences test their products on animals. I am unsure if this dry shampoo has been tested on animals but I would imagine it not to be cruelty free, which is a shame.

I am not the biggest fan of dry shampoo and I rarely use them to be totally honest. I only tend to use dry shampoo when I am going somewhere and I haven’t got time to wash my hair.

My sister made plans to go out for food yesterday and I often try to leave my hair unwashed in the hope my natural oils will help repair my damaged hair so I hadn’t washed my hair in three days so it was a little on the flat, stinky and greasy side. I thought it would be the perfect time to try this dry shampoo out and two minutes later my hair was done and dusted! Dry shampoo is definitely is a time saver, if I hadn’t of used the dry shampoo the night would have been over by the time I had washed, dried and then styled my hair. My sister is the impatient type who hates waiting round so I literally had no time to wash my hair without getting moaned at to hurry up, ha-ha I must say she was shocked when I was ready in ten minutes compared my usual time of 3 hours so I think she loves the Clearly Naked Dry Shampoo more than I do!

After using this I did find my hair felt less soft and it restricted movement of my hair a little bit making it feel heavy and less flowy as usual. It felt as if I had applied hair lacquer all over my hair and then brushed it out, so it didn’t feel as smooth as I’d of liked. My boyfriend asked if I had put talcum powder in my hair so it must have felt pretty dry for him to notice as he never notices anything usually! He also said my hair smelled nice too, cutie! As soon as I sprayed my hair all over I did notice it thicken straight away, my hair felt so thick and it looked volumized but it appeared frizzy too so I had to use my hair straighteners to smooth it out a bit and make it look less static. After styling my hair looked thick and smelled lush but I didn’t like how my hair felt, it was obvious that I had some kind of product in my hair and it didn’t feel as soft.

Will I buy again?

Probably not. It is cheap enough and its perfect if you want thicker hair on the cheap but it is not a favourite of mine, even though it did work. I will finish the rest of the bottle off but I very much doubt I would buy this again as there have been other dry shampoo’s from Batiste and Aussie that I have liked better.

Where to buy?

Right here -> BOOTS – £2.99

Have you ever tried this dry shampoo? What did you think of it?

Thanks for stopping by on Katie Rose Loves!

Smile Kit – DIY Teeth Whitening Kit From Smile:Now

Ola Amigos!

Two weeks ago I was sent a peroxide-free teeth whitening Smile Kit from Smile:Now to review and I have been using the kit for about 12 days now. I am a smoking, coffee drinking, coke addict so my teeth are very prone to staining and discolouration so I often rely on whitening products to keep my teeth looking clean and white. I use Denivit daily, (best anti-stain and whitening toothpaste, EVER), as well as whitening my teeth with Dr Collins’ All White 22% Carmabide Peroxide gels whenever I feel the need. I thought I would give the Smile Kit a whirl as I hadn’t bleached my teeth in ages and I was due a top-up!

The contents come in a expensive looking presentable box that looks very professional indeed, there is an instruction manual included too. Here’s what’s in the box:

3 x 5ml Teeth Whitening Gels13891857_10209833472897836_1240257527224242219_n

1 x 5ml Remineralising Gel13895487_10209833472857835_2554309233195924766_n

1 x 6 Bulb UV Whitelight13887098_10209833461777558_3821059811207402407_n

1 x Mouth Tray Box and 2 Mouth Trays (One For Top, One For Bottom)13872755_10209833461857560_5901625161061580959_n

A Shade Guide13669190_10209833475617904_2873582241772029811_n

How to use?

Compare your teeth with the shade guide and jot down the number closest to your shade.

Place mouth tray in boiling water for 10=15 seconds and place in your mouth over teeth and sucking to create a tooth impression on the tray. Rinse with cold water to set and repeat for the bottom mouth tray. Trim any excess rubber of the trays if you desire a perfect fit.

Put some whitening gel along the length of the trays and place in your mouth.

Take out the plastic piece from underneath the UV light battery and after turning it on, place the light over the mouth trays for ten minutes.

Remove the light and keep the mouth trays in for a further 30 minutes then rinse your mouth out and the trays.

Put some remineralising gel along the length of the mouth tray and put the trays back over your teeth for ten minutes then rinse again..

Compare your results using the shade guide to see if your teeth are whiter.

I am one of those ‘serial label reading lunatics’ and I check the ingredients list on labels and research each ingredient before using a product so I was a little disappointed when I couldn’t find the list of ingredients on the box or  on the website. The only information given is, ‘peroxide-free’, nothing else. So I haven’t a clue what the gels are made from!

I had trouble with the bottom mouth tray and my teeth didn’t make a good impression as much as it did with the top tray.

Although my teeth did whiten a shade or two, it took much longer to see any results compared to my Dr Collins gels which gives me instant results. I only began to see a difference after the fifth day of using daily.

The kit looks the part, it looks very expensive and I think it would make a fabulous gift.

They are peroxide free so they are much gentler on enamel and don’t cause any sensitivity compared to peroxide gels.

I didn’t see any improvement until the fifth day but after using for 12 days my teeth had whitened by a shade or two.

If you email the company with your order number and feedback you will receive 3 more whitening gels and another remineralising gel completely free. So basically, you can get two kits for the price of one just by giving honest feedback!

Would I buy again?

I probably won’t buy the Smile Kit again as I prefer my Dr Collins 22% Carmabide Peroxide gels over the Smile Kit gels. I see quicker results and I don’t have to whiten my teeth as often. I know peroxide based gels can be harmful if overused but because I only use them now and again I doubt I’ll do any harm to my enamel.

If I ever decide to replace my peroxide gels with gentle peroxide free ones, I would definitely try the Smile Kit again but until then I will continue using my Dr Collins whitening gels.

I don’t recommend this kit for heavily stained teeth, I advise you speak to your dentist before using any whitening gels and ask for a deep cleanse and polish for your teeth before using whitening gels for best results. If you have periodontal disease or gum disease it is important you speak to your dentist before using any whitening products on your teeth as you may do more harm than good!

Where to buy?

You can get yourself a Smile Kit by clicking here. A Smile Kit is £29.99 to buy.

Art Naturals – Dead Sea Mud Mask

Hello Girls (& Boys!)

I have another Art Naturals product here for review. It is their Dead Sea Mud Mask.

I have tried quite a few products from Art Naturals now and I can honestly say that I haven’t a bad thing to say about any products that I have used from them. Art Naturals has become one of my favourite brands lately and I have replaced most of my beauty products from ‘popular, big brands’, especially those who test on animals and use harsh ingredients, for ‘natural’ and kind brands like Art Naturals whose products are chemical free, cruelty free, contain nothing but natural, kind ingredients and are gentle on the skin, gentle enough to calm my psoriasis instead of irritating it!

I can definately see ‘natural’ and cruelty free brands becoming more popular in the near future as people realise nasty, harmful ingredients and testing on animals is really not nessecary in a beauty product, really though, why should an animal suffer just so we can look fabulous. I agree it is pretty hard knowing which products are kind, some poducts don’t tell you if it has been tested on animals or not so always look for the little cruelty free bunny on the back of a product to know 100% if the formula has NOT been tested on animals. A brand will never say ‘this has been tested on animals’ so look for the cute bunny for confimation!

Art Naturals Dead Sea Mud Mask

This is a 250 ml tub of deep skin cleansing, pure heavenly face mask! Dead Sea Mud is amazing for all skin types and everybody can benefit from it in some way. It draws out toxins, impurities, blackheads, dirt, oil, helps acne, calms skin conditions and disorders as well as reducing large pores and if used often it will help give you radiant skin and a brighter, clearer, more balanced complexion.

I’ll be honest, this mud mask from Art Naturals is completely identical to the Majestic Pure one I reviewed a while back, it has the exact same ingredients, same 250ml sized tub, the mud is the same dark grey colour, same thick consitency, same scent and it has the same price. The only differences being, the label and a different company name. Majestic Pure say to leave their mask on for five minutes while Art Naturals say leave on for 15-20 minutes. So basically I would imagine they both have the same formula, just sold by two different companies with different time directions.

I’ve had the same results with this Dead Sea Mud Mask as I did with Majestic Pure’s one. I do love them both! You can read my review for that here if you’d like.

How to use it?

‘Cleanse and tone first, and dry skin. Use clean dry hands when scooping the mud out of the jar to avoid contamination and bacteria. Test on a small area for allergies before using all over the face. Apply a thick layer of the mud onto your face and neck, avoiding the eye area. Let the mask sit for around 15-20 minutes until it has dried. Remove the mask by wetting hands and gently lathering in circular motions for a complete exfoliation. Wash any excess mud off with lukewarm water and gently pat dry. Follow with your favourite moisturiser. For best results use every 3-4 days.’

TIP: Apply a very thin layer as the more you put on the longer it will take to dry and remove.

This is really messy to apply as you can imagine, it gets everywhere if you are not careful so if you are as dopey and careless as I am, use it while bathing or use an old t-shirt to avoid any staining. Be careful not to get it into your hair too if you don’t plan on washing it afterwards, tie it up into a bun and use a hair band to protect your hair line.

After using this 4 times in three weeks I can say that my complexion is definately brighter and my skin looks clearer and feels moisturised and smoother. I have had a little pimple break out on my chin but I have had no major reactions or break outs.

I will continue using this once a week to keep my skin balanced and to draw out all toxins and impurities that have built up which cleansing and toning alone can’t achieve. I still have those annoying, under the skin, tiny blackheads on my nose that even comedones and blackhead extractors can’t remove so using this regulary may help draw them out, a few at a time.  I am so determined to get rid of them.

I don’t recommend using dead sea mud daily as it is possible you will remove the ‘good’ oils that your skin produces to protect it from external factors, so once a week is perfect in my opinion.

I do recommend steaming your face before using any face mask to open the pores. Just make sure you splash some cold water over your face when you remove the mud mask to close the pores and avoid any new blackheads, pimples or spots appearring.

Where to buy it?

You can buy it right here. It is £14.95 for a 250ml tub. Which is a little expensive for a face mask, yeah, but it will last a while and you defo get what you pay for! Check out some other Art Naturals products too, I especially love their essential oils, hair masks and bath bombs.

Thanks for reading girlies! If you have tried a dead sea mud mask before or if you are thinking of buying this one for yourself I would love to hear your thoughts!

Have a beautiful day!

Review: Miss Pouty – Hotlipz Lip Pumper

I’ve been using the HOTLIPZ LIP PUMP (suction cup) from Miss Pouty the last few days and I’m loving how pumped my lips are looking. I thought I would share a review with you all as I couldn’t find any blog posts or reviews of it anywhere on the internet so I thought I would be Little Miss Helpful for the day and share my two bob with you all.

This arrived the next day after I ordered it, so I was happy with fast delivery! It came in a pretty presentable gift box and inside was the red suction cup which was shaped like a big pair of lush lips, a lovely red velvet drawstring bag to store it in when not using and some handy instructions too.

I was sent this to review few days ago from Miss Pouty and I was really excited to receive it as I am a big fan of huge lips and I have never used a suction lip cup before… Okay, I’ll admit it… I was one of those stupid idiots who tried ‘The Kylie Jenner Lip Challenge’ a while back, only I used a bottle top and a small empty jar instead of a proper suction cup. It’s embarrassing I know, I’m nearly 30… ha-ha! Although my lips did plump up after using the bottle top, I had an ugly bruise on my chin, my lips had a painful bluish tint and I had an unsightly purplish-red circle around my mouth for days which meant I had to hibernate. I swore down right there and then that I would never take up a challenge again, ha-ha.

What is the Hotlipz Lip Pump?

‘’HOTLIPZ Lip Pump is a revolutionary, cutting edge designed device enabling you to achieve the most perfect, full, thick, sexier ad shaped lips out there. Combining advanced technology with a hand operated suction pump, you can shape and contour the appearance of your lips, the way you like and naturally.’’ – Miss Pouty.

It looks really nice! The lip shape of the suction cup is really gorgeous, and because it is quite large it looks like a little ornament, kinda. I have mine sitting on my dressing table and it looks the part!

It works! It does plump your lips. I often use Lip Voltage and this suction cup deffo plumps the lips more than Lip Voltage does!

It comes in a gorgeous presentable gift box with a red velvet drawstring bag, I think this would make a lovely gift if not to yourself, then for somebody else.

It can hurt a little bit! Especially when using the attachment to create a double lobed line through your lips, (think Angelina Jolie’s bottom lip), it hurt as the attachment was digging into my lip to create the look but it wasn’t unpleasant and it was bearable.

It is huge compared to other suction cups so you may struggle to fit in your handbag if you would want to take it out and about with you!

It is hard not to drool! The instructions state that you shouldn’t allow saliva inside the HOTLIPZ but I found that almost impossible to do so I had to make sure it was completely dry each time I used it because the suction was not as strong when there was saliva in the ‘lips’.

At first I didn’t like it. It took me ages to figure out how to use it properly and when I was trying to plump my lips the air just kept escaping. The instructions weren’t much help and it said to go to the website for a tutorial video on how to use it. I couldn’t find the video on their website so I googled ‘HOTLIPZ MISS POUTY REVIEW VIDEO’ and came across this.

I found that pouting first then putting the suction cup over your lips and sucking for a few seconds whilst pressing the underneath of the cup to release the air enabled the cup to stay put.

I had alright sized lips to begin with but I’ve always disliked my top lip which is nowhere near as big as my bottom dingy boat lip. I’d love to get my lips done properly but I’m scared of needles and terrified just in case something goes horribly wrong and I end up with a horrendous trout pout. So, this suction cup is my only option, it is not as long lasting as cosmetic surgery but for a short while it definitely gives you the same look. Plus I haven’t a penny to my name so this is definitely lighter on your purse too, no need for £300 ‘top-ups’ every month as this will last a hell of a long time.

Miss Pouty say after using the HOTLIPZ suction cup the results will last up to 4 hours. My lips were plumped for an hour at the most I’d say – two hours later they were still a little bigger than my normal sized lips but nowhere near as big as they were when I first used the suction cup. But an hour is good enough for me!

After using my lips felt a little delicate for a few hours later (I might have over-used it), although the next day they were fine and I had no bruising so was able to use the suction cup again!

I really love how full my lips look compared to before and I was looking in the mirror at my HUGE lips saying, ‘’oh my god’’ over and over because I really didn’t expect them to go as plump and big as they did! I was shocked, ha-ha. I will 100% be using this, absolutely! I’m very pleased with it!

You can buy yourself one from Miss Pouty’s Amazon UK shop right HERE for just £16.99.

Remember – Don’t overuse it – you will be left with bruised, sore and blueish-purple lips.

Not a good look, eh!

Review: Art Naturals – Arabica Coffee Scrub – 100% Natural & Cruelty Free

I’ve another skincare product from Art Naturals here who are a natural skincare brand based in the US although they do sell their products worldwide. All of the products they sell are cruelty free, natural and contain no harsh ingredients Art Naturals have kindly gifted me the Arabica Coffee Scrub which looks good and smells absolutely gorgeous! As soon as I opened the tub I got a lovely whiff of rich, luxurious coffee and it smells good enough to eat. I would imagine you could eat it too as the ingredients are simple, organic, natural and pure.

(Please don’t try to eat it, just incase, LOL!)

ABOUT”Wake up sleepy skin with ArtNaturals’ Arabica Coffee Body Scrub! Once or twice a week, get your morning commutin’ as the invigorating properties of caffeine and cacao extract join forces with the exfoliating properties of coffee grounds and Dead Sea Salt. Add in the calm of olive and sweet almond oil plus shea butter and you’re ready to fight traffic and look fabulous. Our 100 percent natural Coffee Scrub revs up facial skin to reduce age spots and even out skin tone, while it helps heal acne, rosacea and eczema as it exfoliates. Dead Sea salts combine with Kona coffee, rich in caffeine. Caffeine’s antioxidants fight free radicals, reducing the appearance of the dreaded cellulite on legs, arms, tummy, and bottom. The powerful antioxidants also help rid skin of bacteria and harmful chemicals while reducing swelling and puffiness.” – Art Naturals

INGREDIENTS: Dead Sea Salt, Demeria Sugar, Organic Kona Coffee, Organic Olive Oil, Organic Sweet Almond Oil, Organic Grape Seed Oil, Coffee Arabica Seed Oil, Organic Shea Butter, Cacao Powder & Coconut Shaving.

HOW TO USE‘Gently massage scrub in a circular motion for a minute or two in the shower, rinse well. Can be used as a full body scrub. Avoid using around delicate eye area. For best results use every 3-4 days.’

VERDICTI have psoriasis so my skin was very dry before I started using the scrub – especially my elbows, knees and ankles. Luckily my psoriasis is very mild at the moment and not as bad as it used to be but my skin has still been quite rough to touch and lacking in moisture. The last month or so I have used absolutely nothing but a gentle soap on my skin. I get a lot of skincare products sent to me to review, so every now and again I like to give my skin a break and quit skincare altogether. So this is the first product I have used on my skin in ages and I’ve been using it every day for the past week when I bathe or shower. I noticed results after only using the scrub once and I was literally in awe at how moisturised my skin was afterwards. I’ve also been using the scrub on my face too and my complexion is looking good. Because the scrub contains Dead Sea Salt, it did sting my psoriasis a little bit when I first applied it to my skin but it was bearable and nothing to worry about. In my opinion, Dead Sea Salt is probably the best thing you can use for psoriasis along with Bentonite Clay and my psoriasis has improved a-lot since I’ve been using this scrub – it looks like it could be clearing up anytime soon! I will continue using this scrub and will def be repurchasing when I run out. I think you will get about 10 full body scrubs out of one 250 ml tub, maybe more if you use less product. I have used mine on five occasions and my tub is half empty so you do get a bit of use out of one tub.

THOUGHTS: I think the scrub is an absolute perfect, 10/10 skincare product and not only does it help to clear up psoriasis it also works for acne, age spots, cellulite, eczema, stretch marks and varicose veins too. I love my natural, cruelty-free skincare products and the Arabica Coffee Scrub is up one of my faves as it has not been tested on animals and it is made with all natural, kind and gentle ingredients – there are no harsh chemicals or artificial ingredients in the scrub so it won’t irritate my sensitive skin or worsen my psoriasis. 1 million percent recommend it!

DISCLOSUREThis product was gifted to me for review purposes.

WHERE TO BUY: You can buy the Arabica Coffee Scrub HERE for £33. It was priced at £12.95 back in 2016 but it seems to have increased dramatically since.
