Girls, I’ve been posting a lot of reviews lately so I thought I’d switch it up a little and post an easy DIY Beauty Project for you all to try. I’m going to show you beauties how to make a deep conditioning coconut oil hair mask which is a quick, inexpensive & an easy way to deeply nourish and condition damaged hair without forking out on expensive hair products. Most hair products work to make hair LOOK healthier but they don’t work within like coconut oil which helps to prevent hair breakage, controls frizz, eliminates dandruff and soothes scalp psoriasis and it is also a great moisturiser for both the scalp and hair, helping to stimulate hair growth and make hair softer, shinier and healthier-looking.
I use a deep conditioning coconut oil hair mask about once or twice a week and I always leave it on overnight to give it the deepest treatment possible. You can leave it on for however long you want but I’d recommend at least an hour to let the oil do its magic. Coconut oil can be hard to remove from the hair but a couple of washes will eventually get the oil out – just make sure to condition afterwards.
What You Will Need:
Coconut Oil – I’m using some 100% organic, extra virgin, raw cold pressed coconut oil which I got for £2.99 at B&M. Total Bargain! You can also get some HERE.
A Bowl – I use a Tinting Bowl – you can get them cheap HERE.
A Tinting Brush – You can get one HERE.
An Old T-Shirt – Coconut oil gets very messy! Don’t wear your fave top.
Clingfilm – This will keep the heat in and stop any oil from dripping down your face.
How To Make The Coconut Oil Hair Mask:
Put on an old t-shirt because coconut oil can stain and it can be really messy.
Comb through hair and detangle any knots.
Put a few tablespoons of solid coconut oil into a bowl and melt for 10 seconds in the microwave. Turning the solid oil into a hot liquid oil which will penetrate hair better than a cold oil. Give it a good stir.
Part hair into four sections and apply the coconut oil to the roots, mid-lengths and ends using the tinting brush for precise application.
If there is any left over oil just apply it to the hair with your fingers and massage in for a minute or two, paying attention to the scalp area to stimulate hair growth.
Comb through to ensure full coverage and even distribution.
Tie hair up into a bun and wrap the whole of your head with clingfilm.
Leave on for 1 hour + or overnight for an even deeper conditioning treatment. Make sure to place a towel over your pillow to prevent staining if you are leaving it on overnight.
To wash off – shampoo hair two or three times and condition as usual. Coconut oil can be difficult to remove so it may require more than one wash to completely remove it from the hair.
Style hair as usual.
Use 1-2 times a week for lush, healthy hair!
