Review: Moisture Boost Face Cream – Mayka Skincare #Vegan

Hiya Loves…

At the end of last year, I was sent a gorgeous little bundle of natural skincare goodies from a vegan skincare brand called Mayka Skincare. Mayka Skincare are a based in the UK and are a cruelty-free brand. All of their products are handmade in Britain but they do ship worldwide. I have already reviewed the Pure African Black Soap (which I LOVED by the way) and today I’m going to share my thoughts on the Moisture Boost Face Cream which is a deeply moisturising day and night cream, made with natural, kind-to-animals and skin-loving ingredients. Like all of Mayka Skincare products, the Moisture Boost Face Cream doesn’t contain any harsh ingredients or skin irritants and it is naturally scented with roman chamomile and geranium essential oils. It is also rich in nourishing oils and butters including shea and mango butters which help to protect, moisturise and improve elasticity, as well as avocado oil, rich in vitamins,  and cold pressed oat oil which contain moisture regulating ceramides, helping to balance the skin.  The cream contains organic lavender water, panthenol and allantoin, hyaluronic acid and a patented active ingredient – Collageneer too  which increases the synthesis of collagen1 and promotes elasticity, smoothness and firmness.

Boring! I know, but it’s nesseccary!

Lavandula Angustifolia (lavender) water, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) oil, Argania Spinosa (Argan) oil, Butyrospermum parkii (Shea) butter, Helianthus Annus (seed) oil ,Mangifera Indica (Mango) butter, Sodium Steaoryl Lactylate, Glycerin, Glyceryl Stearate, Cetearyl Alcohol, Avena Sativa (Oat) oil, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Allantoin, Panthenol, Sodium Hyaluronate, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Benzyl Alcohol, Dehydro Acetic Acid, Sorbic Acid, Benzoic Acid (Eco Preservation System), Lupinus Albus Seed Extract, Cetyl Alcohol (stabiliser), Pelargonium graveolens (Geranium)flower oil, Xanthan Gum, Anthemis Nobilis (chamomile) Flower Oil, Linalool, Limonene, Geraniol, Citronellol, Citral* *natural components of essential oils

The Moisture Boost Face Cream comes in a gorgeous little box and inside is a 30ml jar with a screw-off lid. On the lid, it has a Mayka Skincare label and logo and an ingredients label on the back of the tub. The packaging is very simple and basic, nothing to extravagant but I’m happy with it. It is a vegan friendly moisturiser, 100% cruelty free and contains no skin-irritating ingredients like colourants and artificial fragrances. The cream itself is a non drip, extra thick cream which creamy white in colour. It has a super silky texture and it smells quite strong but I like it. You can definitely smell the essential oils – if you’re not a fan of how essential oils smell then this probably isn’t product for you.

I really like Mayka Skincare, the products I have tried, I have loved and the Moisture Boost Face Cream is no different. I’ve been using this cream on-off since last year. It’s a cream I reach for when my skin is especially dry as I find it to be deeply moisturising and hydrating. I’ve been using it even more so these last few weeks as I have had a really bad psoriasis flare on my face – the worst it has ever been, dry patches on my nose and cheeks and flaky skin along my hairline and eyebrows. It’s an absolute nightmare when I apply my foundation as it looks cakey AF but this cream helps to moisturise the dry patches and it also helps soothe my irritated skin a little. I do like the cream, it does give your skin a HUGE moisture boost and thanks to the Collangeneer and hyaluronic acid, it helps to plump up the skin too making it look a little more youthful. But, there’s a but! The cream can feel a bit greasy at first and roughly, it takes about 30 minutes plus to completely absorb into the skin, so I mostly use it as a night cream before bed or on mornings when I’m not in a rush and have time to wait around for it to dry. But seriously, it literally melts into the skin and gets to moisturising instantly and once it has dried completely, skin is left feeling so soft and hydrated. I think the Moisture Boost cream would be suitable for those with dry and sensitive skin, maybe combination too but I’m not sure how it would work on oily skin though.

Also, if you hate strong-smelling creams, then I’d avoid this. I actually don’t mind essential oils so I love like how the cream smells, especially because the scent is potent enough to linger.

I was gifted this product from Mayka Skincare for review purposes.
