Pura Cosmetics: Classic Coconut Lip Scrub & Lip Balm Combo

I was sent the Classic Coconut Lip Scrub & Classic Coconut Lip Balm a while back from Pura Cosmetics who are a natural, cruelty free lip-care brand selling gorgeous little lip scrubs and lip balms.

They also do thoughtful little wedding favours for guests and bridesmaid and flower girl gifts which is a cute idea and something I’ll keep in mind for when I tie the knot. Although, bear in mind, I have been with my partner over 12 years (a life sentence) and he still hasn’t popped the question so I won’t hold my breath, ha ha!

Classic Coconut Lip Scrub

The Classic Coconut Lip Scrub comes in a pretty little screw top jar and is a great little exfoliatior for the lips. One of the main ingredients in the lip scrub is coconut oil which is well-known for moisturising and nourishing the skin amazingly. The golden caster sugar gently exfoliates the lips and is the perfect remedy for dry and chapped lips. It gives your lips the perfect base to apply lipstick giving you a perfect pout. It also has the most sweetest, coconut scent ever, it really does smell lovely.

How To Use?

Apply a small amount of scrub to lips with your finger and gently buff and rub into the skin until your happy with the results. Once done, remove the excess scrub off your lips with a bit of tissue to reveal a gorgeous pout.

Ingredients: Golden Caster Sugar, Pure Coconut Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil, Mica Colouring and Flavouring.

A word of warning, as this scrub contains coconut oil – you may want to avoid it if you have a nut allergy.

The Classic Coconut Lip Balm

The Classic Coconut Lip Balm comes in a little tub with a screw top lid. The balm is made with all natural and pure ingredients including vitamin E oil which is great for anti-ageing and soothing cracked and irritated skin. The balm literally melts on the lips after applying and helps to keep the skin on your lips in tip-top shape by moisturing dry, chapped and sore lips, giving them some TLC. It also gives a  natural little shine to your lips too. Like the scrub, the balm smells like a dream and is small enough to pop into your handbag.

Ingredients: Pure Coconut Oil, Olive Wax, Apricot Kernel Oil, Vitamin E Oil and Flavouring.

The lip balm also contains coconut oil, so avoid if you have any nut allergies.

Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm Tin – Review

Ladies, gents…

Chapped lips are a pain in the arse aren’t they? My lips are ALWAYS chapped and it’s so annoying, especially when they begin to peel, which hurts like hell and they look so sore and unattractive. I have tried numerous lip balms, butters and lip scrubs over the years and nothing has worked for me in the long run, my chapped lips always come back so I needed something that would seriously sort my lips out. After one of my lovely followers recommended I try the Beeswax Lip Balm from Burt’s Bees – I went ahead and bought myself the 8.5g tin version of the Beeswax Lip Balm tube as it looked super cute and I just loved the little tin.

What is it?

Burt’s Bees Beeswax Lip Balm is a natural lip conditioner that has been soothing dry, lips since 1991. Beeswax and antioxidant Vitamin E condition skin, for a soothing lip treatment. A final hint of peppermint oil provides a refreshing tingle. The result is a smooth, supple smile everyone will be buzzing about. This lip balm tin fits in your purse or pocket for dry lip therapy anytime, anyplace. Spread on a little TLC with Burt’s Bees moisturising lip balm.

cera alba (beeswax, cire d’abeille), cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, prunus amygdalus dulcis (sweet almond) oil, mentha piperita (peppermint) oil, lanolin, tocopherol, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf extract, glycine soja (soybean) oil, canola oil (huile de colza), limonene

First of all, when I ordered this online, I thought the tin would be quite big but when it arrived I was shocked at how small the tin was. It was tiny! There is a 4.5g tube/stick version of this lip balm which is the same price as the 8.5g tin so you do get more for your money, woo-hoo… plus you get a pretty little tin. It is non-greasy balm which is heat resistant and doesn’t melt, run or slide all over your face throughout the day. It deeply hydrates the lips and it smells minty fresh, leaving a slight tingling on the lips after applying. It also seems to be waterproof too and after drinking and eating the balm stayed put and didn’t slide off like other lip balms do.

I disliked how it takes a lot of elbow grease and finger rubbing to get even the tiniest amount of balm on the lips. You need to rub the balm about ten times with your finger to get a fair amount. This annoyed the hell out of me so I ended up using a little lip brush to make things easier and more hygienic plus it kept my fingers clean. It is more hygenic to use a lip brush to avoid contamination to the balm which will make your lips a million time worse so I do recommend using a lip brush for the tin.

It did heal my chapped lips instantly and I was happy that I could wear my matte lipsticks without my lips looking cracked and flaky. It is probably the best balm I have tried for my lips and it really does work. I no longer have sore, chapped lips after using this so I do recommend it and I would buy it again, definitely.

Where to buy?

I got mine here on Amazon UK for £3.42

What’s your favourite lip balm?

Review: BALM BALM – Tea Tree Multi-Purpose Lip Balm

I received BALM BALM‘s Multi Purpose Tea Tree Lip Balm in my LOVE LULA February subscription box. I’ve only just got round to trying it out so I thought I would do a quick little review for you all seeing as this cold weather and flu has cursed me with chapped lips this week!

The Multi Purpose Lip Balm is a gentle balm that can be used not only on the lips but the face and body too! The ingredients are natural, pure and 100% organic. Made from shea butter, calendula, sunflower oil, beeswax, jojoba, tea tree essential oil and nothing else. BALM BALM claims it moisturises, soothes and nourishes the skin as well as having antibacterial properties. Great for zits and pimples!

I love the fact the Lip Balm is 100% organic and the ingredients are natural and pure without any nasty chemicals added as I’ve been trying to use more natural and gentle products lately – so I will definitely be checking out some other products from BALM BALM. The lip balm is a multi-purpose balm that can be used anywhere on the body not just the lips. I have been using the balm on my chapped lips and it does help to sooth my irritated, cracked skin but it’s not the best at healing them – I’ve been using the balm for about a week or two now and my lips still feel chapped although they are not as sore or irritated anymore. I love how it is not a sticky balm as well but after applying it on my lips it kind of leaks into my mouth and I can taste the strong tea tree essential oil! It doesn’t taste nice at all but the taste does eventually go away after a while although that’s probably because I’ve swallowed it, ha! So, next time I buy a lip balm from BALM BALM I will make sure I get a fragrance free one instead.

I also tried the balm on my dry skin too. I have psoriasis and the balm seems to have moisturised and calmed my irritated skin a little bit. I’ve also tried it on some blemishes and pimples and I think this balm works best for treating spots rather than healing chapped lips so I will keep this for when I get a pimple. Tea Tree works amazing for spots!  I’ve also found that a little bit of the balm goes a long way so one 10 ml tube will last for ages.

DISCLOSURE: I received this product in my Love Lula subscription box which I pay for with my own money.

You can get some from Balm Balm’s website here. for £5.50. All orders placed will receive a free FREE Rose Geranium Hand Balm Sample with any order and delivery in the UK is free when you spend £10 or more!

Review: Lip Smacker – Best Flavour Forever – Fizzy Drink Flavoured Lip Balms

I popped in to B&M last week to pick up some bits & bobs and I came across this Lip Smacker ‘Best Flavour Forever’ lip balm set in fizzy drink flavours for just £2.99. The set comes in a box and has four flavoured lip balms included: Sprite, Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola Vanilla and Orange Fanta. I love shopping at B&M and I always come out of the shop with loads of beauty bargains and gorgeous things – although I didn’t know they sold Lip Smacker products so I was thrilled when I seen these sets on the shelves. I have never used any of Lip Smackers balms before but I’ve had them on my ‘to buy list’ for ages after reading some reviews by a few of my fave beauty bloggers so I couldn’t wait to try them out for myself and I bought a few sets – one for myself and a couple to give out as gorgeous little gifts this Christmas.

Lip Smacker Flavoured Lip Balms

I drink about 2-3 cans of Coke every day so you know I had to try the Coca-Cola lip balm out first – It seriously tastes like the real thing and my lips feel softer after using! Next I tried the Coca-Cola Vanilla lip balm – I don’t like the actual drink and prefer the classic Coca-Cola drink instead but the lip balm tastes and smells fabulous. I love, love, love how vanilla smells so this balm is oneof my favourites out the four, just because it smells amazing. Like the other lip balms, it moisturises dry lips and soothes chapped skin as well as keeping the lips protected, nourished and soft. The Sprite flavoured lip balm tastes exactly like the actual drink and I couldn’t stop licking my lips when I put it on. Now I’ve saved the best till last – the Orange Fanta Flavoured Lip Balm is without a doubt my favourite out of the four! I’m not really a fan of the Orange Fanta drink but the lip balm is gorgeous! It’s smells like oranges – zesty & zingy, and it is so much more vibrant in both taste and smell than the other three and I really love it!

I absolutely love this little set. I’ve tried them all out on my chapped lips and I’m actually surprised at how well they moisturise the lips. I did think they would just be novelty lip balms but they really do nourish the lips and prevent them from becoming dry and chapped. They all smell great, look great and feel great on my lips. I think the set would make a fab little stocking filler, it is a perfect gift especially for those who suffer with dry lips at this time of year. This set will keep the lips soft all throughout winter and it is great value for money at just £2.99.

DISCLOSUREI bought this product with my own money.
