Dr. Botanicals – Coconut Oil Rejuvenating Body Exfoliating Bar Review

About two months ago, Dr. Botanicals, a vegan friendly, cruelty-free skincare brand, sent me one of their Coconut Oil Rejuvenating Body Exfoliating Bars to review on my blog. I’ve got quite a few of Dr. Botanicals products which I’ve been sent over the last year or so and they are one of my fave skincare brands. All of their products are vegan friendly and cruelty free and they contain no harsh ingredients that irritate sensitive skin just natural, quality, skin-loving ingredients which are kind to skin (and animals).

‘Hydrate, Cleanse and Gently Exfoliate. Shredded coconut gently exfoliates the skin while coconut oil moisturises the skin and creamy coconut aroma works to unwind your mind.‘ Dr. Botanicals.

First Impressions:

The soap comes in a small, cardboard box which is recyclable and eco-friendly. No plastic in sight. Inside the box is the 100g soap bar, which is square-shaped, beigey-brown in colour and it has a gorgeous, creamy, natural coconut aroma.

WP_20180411_21_20_52_Pro

The main active ingredient in the soaps formulation is Shell Powder, which contains nutrients like collagen, chondroitin, glucosamine, and hyaluronic acid. It has anti-oxidant activity which protects the skin from free radical damage and also has moisture holding properties which smooth and hydrate the skin. Dr. Botanicals say the soap can be used on the face as well as the body and hands although I haven’t used it on my face, as I’ve had severe breakouts in the past after washing my face with soap, so never again.

Thoughts:

This soap smells AMAZING! I love everything coconut so it’s no surprise that I love this soap, coconut products have done wonders for my skin in the past and I couldn’t recommend them enough for sensitive skin.

Dr. Botanicals say the soap helps to gently exfoliate dead skin cells but I don’t find it to be exfoliating at all. Maybe the exfoliation is too gentle for my skin type. It is a super moisturising, hydrating soap though and after using my skin feels clean, smoother and soft. It lathers okay for a natural soap too.

My followers will know that I have psoriasis and I believe this soap has been so gentle and mild on my skin – it hasn’t irritated my sensitive skin and it hasn’t made my psoriasis any worse, which I think is down to the natural ingredients and the fact doesn’t contain any harsh chemicals. It’s also a long-lasting soap as well, I’ve been using mine for over two months now and although it has withered down a little there is still a lot left.

So, I love the soap – but I don’t like the price tag. All of Dr. Botanicals products are a bit on the expensive side, I wish they weren’t as I love their products! I don’t know about you guys but nearly 20 quid for a soap is not something I’d pay to be honest! Don’t get me wrong,  I have no complaints – it’s gentle, vegan-friendly, cruelty-free, natural, moisturising and it doesn’t dry the skin out, but, I wouldn’t repurchase for £20.

Totally out of my soap budget, ha.

Review: Leafy & Lovely – Summer Meadow Bath Fizzer Tablet (20p @ Superdrug)

Hey gorgeous girls,

I was in Superdrug last week, getting some much-needed retail therapy into my system,  when I seen this Summer Meadow Bath Fizzer Tablet for like 20p. Yep! 20p! You know me – I love a bargain so I had to get one. I don’t know if that is the actual price of it or if it had been reduced or not (probs). I think it is a Superdrug ‘own brand’ product too and it’s cruelty-free and vegan friendly.

LEAFY & LOVELY - Summer Meadow Bath Fizzer Tablet From Superdrug Review x

The Bath Fizzer Tablet comes in a plastic wrapper which features some gorge little flowers on it – it is also wrapped individually in cellophane. The tablet itself is a white 80g bar which is a little crumbly and it is kinda shaped like a skinny bar of soap. It smells lovely too – it’s really nice and quite perfumey.

When I dropped the tablet into the bath I was expecting lots of fizzy bubbles and chaos in the water but it was a bit of a letdown to be honest; the tablet just produced the tiniest bubbles for like the first minute or so, it didn’t fizz at all. It also took about ten minutes for it to completely melt – bearing in mind that  my hot water isn’t at the very hottest as I have lowered the thermostat thingy. So, if your hot water is hot-hot it will defo melt quicker than mine. When it had eventually melted, the water was really cloudy and the scent disappeared too quickly. My bath water just smelt like water which is a shame because it smelt lush before I put it in.

LEAFY & LOVELY - Summer Meadow Bath Fizzer Tablet From Superdrug 4So I think you can guess what my opinion of the Fizzer Tablet is. The good thing is that it hasn’t irritated my sensitive skin (I have psoriasis) which is always good. It smells lovely before you actually use it – it does contain perfume but not sure if it is an artificial one or man-made. I also love how it is vegan friendly and cruelty free but overall, it was quite a disappointment – let’s be honest,  no smell and no fizzing bubbles = a boring bath… 😂

I doubt I’d buy one again, even at the super cheap price of 20p – don’t see the point in it really but it was worth a try, hey can’t really complain for 20p.

Pop into your local Superdrug store to see what bargains they have… you can visit the website too: www.superdrug,com

Lots of love…

7h Heaven – Dead Sea Mud Mask – Hard Drying & Deep Pore Cleansing (Review)

7th Heaven Face Masks

I have been using 7th Heaven face masks since the beginning of time, back in the noughties when I was an ASBO teenager and I love them just as much now as I did back then; if not more. They’re is so many different masks to choose from and I think it is amazing how cheap the ‘sachets’ are to buy and the fact that they work really well considering how inexpensive they are – so everybody can ‘mask’ and afford them whatever their skincare budget may be.

7th Heaven’s products are completely natural, contain no harsh chemicals and they are also suitable for vegetarians, cruelty-free and the brand DO NOT test their products on animals; which is another reason why I love them – they are natural, kind to animals and PETA approved.

Today, I’m reviewing one of my FAVE 7th Heaven masks and it is the Dead Sea Mud mask which has been recommended for oily skin. I have dry skin (sometimes combination) I can get a little oily on my t-zone & very dry everywhere else and the mask works just fine on both types of skin. The Dead Sea mud mask is rich in skin-loving nutrients, Dead Sea minerals and Lavender to help draw out toxins from the skin, unblock pores, normalise oily skin, soothe irritated skin and redness and leave skin looking squeaky clean and feeling soft.

7th Heaven - Dead Sea Mud Face Mask Reviews

Contains:

Kaolin – which is a natural, mild clay; is deep cleansing and draws out impurities and excess oil – without drawing too much oil out. It helps to cleanse and exfoliate debris on the skin and removes dead skin cells.

Dead Sea Mud – which has a high concentration of salts & minerals and help to relieve symptoms of skin disorders such as psoriasis, eczema & acne. The rich mineral content makes it a great exfolliant and it helps to draw out toxins from the skin, restore the skins pH balance as well as improving elasticity, and minimising pores, fine-lines and wrinkles.

Lavender – is another ingredient that helps to relieve symptoms of skin disorders. It soothes irritated skin and calms redness. It is also an antiseptic, anti-inflammatory astringent and helps to normalise oil production and keep bacteria at bay too.

Seaweed – is a beneficial superfood that has anti-ageing and anti-inflammatory properties and is rich in amino acids, vitamins and minerals. Its anti-bacterial properties make it an ideal ingredient for fighting everything from acne to aging.

Dead Sea Salt – like dead sea mud; dead sea salt helps to relieve symptoms of psoriasis, acne and eczema. It is used for detoxifaction and anti-ageing and helps to reduce fine-lines and wrinkles, plump and hydrate the skin and reduce inflammation.

Bergamot – a fresh, clean smelling essential oil  used to treat and prevent skin infections, help relieve symptoms of acne, psoriasis, eczema and cold sores. It is also an anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, antioxidant..

Thoughts:

I love a good hard-drying mask – I love the feeling on my skin when they have completely dried and this ‘Dead Sea Mud’ mask from 7th Heaven doesn’t disappoint. I reckon I have tried most of the 7th Heaven face masks but the ‘Dead Sea Mud’ mask is obviously one of my faves and I find myself repurchasing it again and again.

It comes in  20g sachet and you can get about two applications from one sachet. There are also bigger tubes available to buy too but I’m happy enough with my sachets. The mask has an earthly, pale green colour, a thick consistency and a slightly fragranced scent to it – I’m not sure what it smells like but it smells okay. The ingredients state that it does contain parfum & a colourant although these are not artificial and are instead man-made so they are gentle on sensitive skin. To be safe, always do a patch test on your inner arm before using.

I apply the mask straight from the packet with my fingers after cleansing and it easily spread and glides over the skin. It is super creamy and non-drip too! I leave it on for about 15-20 minutes or until it is completely dry. The mask isn’t bue like the models on the packaging and it not as dark/grey-ish as other dead sea mud masks I have used which is because this one contains Kaolin Clay; so after about 5-10 minutes the greeny ‘mask’ starts to dry and it turns into a chalky white colour.

After 15+ minutes the mask should be ready to wash off but if it hasn’t – it can be left on a little longer until it has dried completely. Before I wash the mask off, I like to gently rub my face with my fingers in a circular motion to exfoliate my skin and remove dead skin build-up then I just wash the excess off with warm water and a face cloth, (I use my WipeOut! MicroFibre Cleansing Cloth). Once I have removed all of the mask I splash my face with cold water to close my pores and my skin looks clearer, healthier, happier and brighter afterwards. It also feels smooth, soft and moisturised too.

The Dead Sea Mud mask is definitely one of my favourite masks ever and I think it’s one that I will always use as I like how my skin looks after using. It really has worked on my skin and my skintone looks good and my complexion looks clear. I also love that the mask is super cheap; (mine was 99p from Asda), there are two applications in one sachet; it contains no nasty ingredients; and it is totally cruelty-free. What’s not to love!

Disclosure: I bought this product with my own money.

Where To Buy: You can get 7th Heaven face masks literally anywhere: Asda; Superdrug; Boots; Tesco; Sainsbury’s; Home Bargains; Amazon UK, etc… They are about 89p -£1.50 to buy and they have loads of different products to choose from!
