Superdrug: Chocolate Orange Self-Heating Face Mask (Review)

Hey gorgeous girls…

A couple of days ago I popped into Superdrug to empty my purse and I literally bought every face mask they had available. I’m kinda addicted to face masks and I’m always stocking up on them even though I have too many as it is. 😂 So, yeah the Chocolate Orange Self-Heating Mask was one of those and I used it last night.

Like all of Superdrug’s own products – the mask is vegan-friendly and cruelty free. It comes in a sachet and unlike 7th Heaven’s sachets where you can get maybe 2-3 masks out of one sachet – these just have enough for one mask. The mask itself is so chocolatey, it’s sticky and it seriously looks, feels and smells like melted chocolate. It’s kind of similar to Terry’s Chocolate Orange and it seriously smells good enough to eat. 😍

After I cleansed, I followed the directions in the packaging and splashed my face with warm water and left it wet.  I then smothered the mask over my face and chilled for 10-15 minutes before I washed it off.

As soon as I put it on, I instantly felt it warming and the heat was so fab. 👌 The heat didn’t last long though and after a few minutes in the sensation wore off.  I absolutely loved the heat ‘feeling’ so much that self-heating masks will now be one of my fave kinds of masks – not far off from hard drying ones. The Chocolate Orange Mask was also very messy and it got absolutely everywhere – I’m a dozey cow! So next time I use it, I’ll make sure to wear an old t-shirt and tie my hair up and apply it in the bathroom.

After washing the mask off, my skin felt clean, lovely and soft and my skin looked clear. I’d definitely use it again. I’m looking forward to trying out all of my other Superdrug’s ‘own’ face masks and I bought a few so expect to see a lot of face mask posts in the future! 😂

Pop into Superdrug to see the whole range of face masks they have or head over to the website:

Review: Leafy & Lovely – Summer Meadow Bath Fizzer Tablet (20p @ Superdrug)

Hey gorgeous girls,

I was in Superdrug last week, getting some much-needed retail therapy into my system,  when I seen this Summer Meadow Bath Fizzer Tablet for like 20p. Yep! 20p! You know me – I love a bargain so I had to get one. I don’t know if that is the actual price of it or if it had been reduced or not (probs). I think it is a Superdrug ‘own brand’ product too and it’s cruelty-free and vegan friendly.

LEAFY & LOVELY - Summer Meadow Bath Fizzer Tablet From Superdrug Review x

The Bath Fizzer Tablet comes in a plastic wrapper which features some gorge little flowers on it – it is also wrapped individually in cellophane. The tablet itself is a white 80g bar which is a little crumbly and it is kinda shaped like a skinny bar of soap. It smells lovely too – it’s really nice and quite perfumey.

When I dropped the tablet into the bath I was expecting lots of fizzy bubbles and chaos in the water but it was a bit of a letdown to be honest; the tablet just produced the tiniest bubbles for like the first minute or so, it didn’t fizz at all. It also took about ten minutes for it to completely melt – bearing in mind that  my hot water isn’t at the very hottest as I have lowered the thermostat thingy. So, if your hot water is hot-hot it will defo melt quicker than mine. When it had eventually melted, the water was really cloudy and the scent disappeared too quickly. My bath water just smelt like water which is a shame because it smelt lush before I put it in.

LEAFY & LOVELY - Summer Meadow Bath Fizzer Tablet From Superdrug 4So I think you can guess what my opinion of the Fizzer Tablet is. The good thing is that it hasn’t irritated my sensitive skin (I have psoriasis) which is always good. It smells lovely before you actually use it – it does contain perfume but not sure if it is an artificial one or man-made. I also love how it is vegan friendly and cruelty free but overall, it was quite a disappointment – let’s be honest,  no smell and no fizzing bubbles = a boring bath… 😂

I doubt I’d buy one again, even at the super cheap price of 20p – don’t see the point in it really but it was worth a try, hey can’t really complain for 20p.

Pop into your local Superdrug store to see what bargains they have… you can visit the website too: www.superdrug,com

Lots of love…

Review: Spa – Eye Make-Up Remover Pads With Aloe Vera (Home Bargains)

Hey chicks!

Thought I’d do a little review on these Eye Make-Up Remover Pads With Aloe Vera by Spa which I got from Home Bargains. I always get the Spa face wipes as I like them a lot and I seen these Eye Make-Up Remover Pads when stocking up on wipes last month and thought I would give them a go to see if they work on stubborn eye make-up. I really can’t remember how much they were – I think it was something like £1 for a twin pack and there are 30 pads in one pack so you get 60 pads altogether, a great little bargain hey.

SPA - Eye Make-Up Remover Pads With Aloe VeraSPA - Eye Make-Up Remover Pads With Aloe Vera REVIEW

The wipes are made in Israel and they are suitable for all skin types. They are also alcohol free so they are unlikely to dry out the skin and claim to be pH balanced although it doesn’t list the exact pH levels on the pack. The packs don’t have the cruelty-free bunny either and it doesn’t state whether or not these have been tested on animals so I’m assuming they have been but I may be wrong.

The pads come in a small lilac packet which has a resealable label to prevent moisture loss. The pads themselves are quite small, square-shaped, very moist and they have a nice subtle fragrance too.  I’ve been using these for a couple of weeks now, just a little over a month to remove my mascara and eyeliner and I use about 2-3 pads each time depending how much I’m wearing. They remove mascara well from the eyes and they don’t irritate my eyes, or burn or sting which is good. I haven’t tried them with waterproof mascara or eyeliner yet as I don’t use them but I reckon they will work quite well.

I was also using them on my entire face and neck to remove my foundation, concealer, powder and blusher from my face and they do remove every trace of dirt and oil. For a while, I actually preferred the small pads over the full-sized wipes but I soon changed my mind when I broke out in blemishes and drier skin a week or two later.

The Eye Remover Pads do contain perfume in the ingredients list and my sensitive skin does usually break out when using products with perfume in so I’m not surprised I got a few blemishes. From now on, I will only use the pads to remove eye makeup and I won’t be using them to cleanse the rest of my skin.

7h Heaven – Dead Sea Mud Mask – Hard Drying & Deep Pore Cleansing (Review)

7th Heaven Face Masks

I have been using 7th Heaven face masks since the beginning of time, back in the noughties when I was an ASBO teenager and I love them just as much now as I did back then; if not more. They’re is so many different masks to choose from and I think it is amazing how cheap the ‘sachets’ are to buy and the fact that they work really well considering how inexpensive they are – so everybody can ‘mask’ and afford them whatever their skincare budget may be.

7th Heaven’s products are completely natural, contain no harsh chemicals and they are also suitable for vegetarians, cruelty-free and the brand DO NOT test their products on animals; which is another reason why I love them – they are natural, kind to animals and PETA approved.

Today, I’m reviewing one of my FAVE 7th Heaven masks and it is the Dead Sea Mud mask which has been recommended for oily skin. I have dry skin (sometimes combination) I can get a little oily on my t-zone & very dry everywhere else and the mask works just fine on both types of skin. The Dead Sea mud mask is rich in skin-loving nutrients, Dead Sea minerals and Lavender to help draw out toxins from the skin, unblock pores, normalise oily skin, soothe irritated skin and redness and leave skin looking squeaky clean and feeling soft.

7th Heaven - Dead Sea Mud Face Mask Reviews

Kaolin – which is a natural, mild clay; is deep cleansing and draws out impurities and excess oil – without drawing too much oil out. It helps to cleanse and exfoliate debris on the skin and removes dead skin cells.

Dead Sea Mud – which has a high concentration of salts & minerals and help to relieve symptoms of skin disorders such as psoriasis, eczema & acne. The rich mineral content makes it a great exfolliant and it helps to draw out toxins from the skin, restore the skins pH balance as well as improving elasticity, and minimising pores, fine-lines and wrinkles.

Lavender – is another ingredient that helps to relieve symptoms of skin disorders. It soothes irritated skin and calms redness. It is also an antiseptic, anti-inflammatory astringent and helps to normalise oil production and keep bacteria at bay too.

Seaweed – is a beneficial superfood that has anti-ageing and anti-inflammatory properties and is rich in amino acids, vitamins and minerals. Its anti-bacterial properties make it an ideal ingredient for fighting everything from acne to aging.

Dead Sea Salt – like dead sea mud; dead sea salt helps to relieve symptoms of psoriasis, acne and eczema. It is used for detoxifaction and anti-ageing and helps to reduce fine-lines and wrinkles, plump and hydrate the skin and reduce inflammation.

Bergamot – a fresh, clean smelling essential oil  used to treat and prevent skin infections, help relieve symptoms of acne, psoriasis, eczema and cold sores. It is also an anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, antioxidant..

I love a good hard-drying mask – I love the feeling on my skin when they have completely dried and this ‘Dead Sea Mud’ mask from 7th Heaven doesn’t disappoint. I reckon I have tried most of the 7th Heaven face masks but the ‘Dead Sea Mud’ mask is obviously one of my faves and I find myself repurchasing it again and again.

It comes in  20g sachet and you can get about two applications from one sachet. There are also bigger tubes available to buy too but I’m happy enough with my sachets. The mask has an earthly, pale green colour, a thick consistency and a slightly fragranced scent to it – I’m not sure what it smells like but it smells okay. The ingredients state that it does contain parfum & a colourant although these are not artificial and are instead man-made so they are gentle on sensitive skin. To be safe, always do a patch test on your inner arm before using.

I apply the mask straight from the packet with my fingers after cleansing and it easily spread and glides over the skin. It is super creamy and non-drip too! I leave it on for about 15-20 minutes or until it is completely dry. The mask isn’t bue like the models on the packaging and it not as dark/grey-ish as other dead sea mud masks I have used which is because this one contains Kaolin Clay; so after about 5-10 minutes the greeny ‘mask’ starts to dry and it turns into a chalky white colour.

After 15+ minutes the mask should be ready to wash off but if it hasn’t – it can be left on a little longer until it has dried completely. Before I wash the mask off, I like to gently rub my face with my fingers in a circular motion to exfoliate my skin and remove dead skin build-up then I just wash the excess off with warm water and a face cloth, (I use my WipeOut! MicroFibre Cleansing Cloth). Once I have removed all of the mask I splash my face with cold water to close my pores and my skin looks clearer, healthier, happier and brighter afterwards. It also feels smooth, soft and moisturised too.

The Dead Sea Mud mask is definitely one of my favourite masks ever and I think it’s one that I will always use as I like how my skin looks after using. It really has worked on my skin and my skintone looks good and my complexion looks clear. I also love that the mask is super cheap; (mine was 99p from Asda), there are two applications in one sachet; it contains no nasty ingredients; and it is totally cruelty-free. What’s not to love!

Disclosure: I bought this product with my own money.

Where To Buy: You can get 7th Heaven face masks literally anywhere: Asda; Superdrug; Boots; Tesco; Sainsbury’s; Home Bargains; Amazon UK, etc… They are about 89p -£1.50 to buy and they have loads of different products to choose from!

I Wrote An Article For Healthline Magazine

Hey gorgeous girls!

This is just a quick little post to let you all know that I have written a short article regarding my psoriasis for Healthline – which is a popular online health magazine.

The article I wrote is called ‘3 Times I Had A Psoriasis Flare FOMO’ and explains the struggles I have had over the years, the opportunities I have missed because of my skin and my current outlook on life.

If you would like to – you can read it HERE.

How To Remove Make-Up Using Just Water With The WipeOut! Amazing MicroFibre Cleansing Cloth From Magnitone London (Review)

A good few months ago, I was sent the WipeOut! MicroFibre Cleansing Cloth from Magnitone London along with the BlendUp Vibra-Sonic Brush (which I’ll review another time) and it completely slipped my mind to try it out / review it. I accumulate so many beauty and skincare products – I’m literally a hoarder and every once in a while I have to do a little clean out to discard out of date products, empties, products I won’t use and to also make a little more space in my small apartment. These clean-outs are when I find products I forgot I had and I eventually get around to trying them.

Magnitone London - WipeOut! The Amazing MicroFibre Cleansing ClothMagnitone London - WipeOut! The Amazing MicroFibre Cleansing Cloth Review

So, last week I found the WipeOut! MicroFibre Cleansing Cloth in my skincare stash and I thought I’d give it ago as I have been quite lazy with my skincare these last few weeks. I haven’t had a routine at all – instead, I have been using throw-away face wipes, which are okay to use short-term but after using them for like a month straight I started to notice my skin was looking awful because of them. I broke out in blemishes, my skin was dull and dry and basically I looked like shit. In the past I have found that when my skin is bad, keeping all products off my skin helps to balance itself out naturally so I was very intrigued to see how the Wipe Out Cloth would work for my complexion.

The WipeOut! MicroFibre Cleansing Cloth removes tough, long-wear and oil-based makeup with just warm water. It is a super soft, super fluffy face cloth making it perfect for use one sensitive skin, eyes and lips, with no cleansers, gels or products needed. The WipeOut! microfibers swell up when wet, grabbing hold of dirt, oil and makeup and trapping them away so makeup removed properly and is not smeared back onto the skin. The WipeOut! Cleansing Cloth is re-useable 1000 times, it is quick drying making it perfect for travelling and it is also machine washable at 30°C. Each Cloth is 40cm x 17cm, smearproof and double sided.  You can buy one single cloth for £7.99 or you can get two for £15 – they are available in pink and grey too.

For the last month or so my skin has been really awful – completely my own fault for using face wipes everyday and being lazy by not sticking to my usual skincare routine. I’ve had blemishes appear on my face (chin area), dry patches on my nose and cheeks and my overall complexion has been dull and uneven. I thought I’d swerve the throwaway face wipes and give the WipeOut! Cloth a try to help re-balance my skin and I especially liked how it requires no products just water when cleansing, so my skin would kind of ‘repair’ itself on its own without the use of any products. I have also been using Dr. Botanicals – Moroccan Rose Superfood Facial Oil which is a completely natural oil and my skin does look much better already.

Magnitone London - WipeOut! The Amazing MicroFibre Cleansing Cloth Reviews

I love the cloth – it is so soft and fluffy and it literally does need just water to remove even the toughest of makeup. I just rinse under the hot tap, wring it out and wipe it across my face to cleanse, remove dirt, oil and makeup and prevent spots and blackheads. The warm cloth slightly opens my pores to allow deep cleansing which helps to remove blackheads too. I’d recommend splashing your face with cold water after using to close your pores. What’s great about the WipeOut! Cloth is the microfibers hold onto particles which stop them from being spread over the face. Since using the cloth (and oil) my skin is finally starting to look human again and it is looking clearer and feeling softer. I also have a little sheen to my skin and it looks so much brighter. After using I just wash with a little bit of soap, rinse and hang it up to dry, ready to use again. The cloth is also eco-friendly as it’s reusable/washable so no more wipes in landfill which means it’s much better for our environment. I haven’t washed it in the machine yet but it can be washed at 30°c. So yeah, I’m totally happy with this product and I will defo use it again and again.

Disclosure: I was given this product for free.

Where To Buy:

Review: Dr. Botanicals – Moroccan Rose Superfood Facial Oil | Vegan Friendly & Cruelty-Free Skincare

Dr. Botanicals, a vegan friendly skincare brand, sent me some of their Moroccon Rose Superfood Facial Oil to try out and review on my blog. The oil is completely natural, vegan friendly and cruelty-free and it is infused with plant extracts, antioxidants, vitamins, essential oils and botanical extracts to help brighten dull skin, protect it, renew and even out skin tone. It also contains high levels of Vitamins A and C which rejuvenate the skin and helps to reduce visible signs of ageing.

The main active ingredients in the formulation are:

Vitamin Chelps to stimulate collagen production, for younger-looking skin.
Vitamin A – a powerful antioxidant with aims to rejuvenate skin, even skin tone and reduce the signs of ageing; while protecting from free radicals.
Almond Oil – deeply moisturises and nourishes skin, whilst brightening the complexion for brighter fresh looking skin.

First Impressions:

The Moroccan Facial Oil comes in a eco-friendly, recyclable cardboard box – the packaging is nothing special but it is good for our environment. It lists the full ingredients in super tiny writing on the bottom of the box – which I can’t read even with my glasses on. It has the cruelty-free bunny printed on the box too. Inside is the Facial Oil which comes in a 15ml glass bottle with a simple label and a black screw-off dropper lid. The oil itself is clear and transparent with a slight rose-pink tint to it. Very pretty! It has a watery consistency and smells really nice too, kinda like a mild, subtle perfume, although it is not overpowering at all.  The oil has been recommended for dry skin especially but all skin types can use it even oily.

I’ve been using it for a whole week so far and I’ve stopped using other products, just so I can see how it works my skin. My skin has been looking awful lately and I put it down to being lazy. I have been using throw away face wipes the last month or so instead of cleansing properly and although they come in handy every now and again, I don’t recommend using them as an everyday thing as I have found I break out and my skin gets really dry an dull-looking when I do.

This week I’ve ditched the wipes and I’ve been washing my face twice a day with the Wipe Out MicroFibre Cleansing Cloth from Magnitone London, which just requires water, no cleansers, gels, etc… and I’ve then been applying the oil every morning and every night. I use about 3-4 drops for my entire face and neck and in one week I’ve used just under 1/4 of the bottle, so I’m guessing the 15ml bottle will last me roughly over a month, maybe longer.

The Moroccan Facial Oil doesn’t behave like your average oil and it is kind of a dry oil although Dr.Botanicals haven’t said this. It doesn’t feel oily/greasy on the skin and it doesn’t leave a sticky residue either. It is super absorbent and I love how it dries into the skin within seconds, so no need to wait around for it to dry – one of my pet hates with facial oils.

Since using the facial oil, my dry patches and blemishes are starting to disappear and my skin doesn’t feel as tight, dry or look as dull as before – it has definitely brightened my complexion. I think with longer use my skin tone will look more even so I’m looking forward to that as uneven skin tone is something I’ve struggled with since day one. Ditching the face wipes, cleansing with a microfiber cloth and using this pure goodness oil on my skin has definitely improved its appearance and done it the world of good. I’ll update this post in a few weeks when I have give it more use.

I love Dr. Botanicals and I have their Tropical Invigorating Cream also which I love. The brand has definitely become a favourite of mine – I have been trying to use more cruelty-free brands the last few years and I prefer natural, gentle skincare products which are free-from nasty chemicals and that is what Dr. Botanicals is all about. They use top quality, natural ingredients in all of their products which are gentle on skin yet effective and they are completely cruelty-free, vegan friendly and free from animal by-products – animals should not have to suffer for our vanity and I think one day, hopefully, testing cosmetics on animals will be illegal and rightly so!

Dr Botanicals products are a bit on the expensive side but like I’ve said before, you definitely get what you pay for when it comes to skincare. Most of their products are a little out of my budget but I will definitely shop their products again – I’ll treat myself, hey and I’ll keep checking the website for sales and deals to grab myself a bargain!

Disclosure: This product was gifted to me for review purposes.

Where To Buy:

You can buy a 15ml bottle of Moroccan Superfood Facial Oil HERE for £35.90 on Dr. Botanicals website. You can also get the full size 30ml bottle HERE for £55. You can also get £20 off your first order (£60+) when you sign up to the newsletter!

How To Make A Deep Conditioning Coconut Oil Hair Mask

Girls, I’ve been posting a lot of reviews lately so I thought I’d switch it up a little and post an easy DIY Beauty Project for you all to try. I’m going to show you beauties how to make a deep conditioning coconut oil hair mask which is a quick, inexpensive & an easy way to deeply nourish and condition damaged hair without forking out on expensive hair products. Most hair products work to make hair LOOK healthier but they don’t work within like coconut oil which helps to prevent hair breakage, controls frizz, eliminates dandruff and soothes scalp psoriasis and it is also a great moisturiser for both the scalp and hair, helping to stimulate hair growth and make hair softer, shinier and healthier-looking.

I use a deep conditioning coconut oil hair mask about once or twice a week and I always leave it on overnight to give it the deepest treatment possible. You can leave it on for however long you want but I’d recommend at least an hour to let the oil do its magic. Coconut oil can be hard to remove from the hair but a couple of washes will eventually get the oil out – just make sure to condition afterwards.

What You Will Need:

Coconut OilI’m using some 100% organic, extra virgin, raw cold pressed coconut oil which I got for £2.99 at B&M. Total Bargain! You can also get some HERE.

A BowlI use a Tinting Bowl – you can get them cheap HERE.

A Tinting Brush – You can get one HERE

An Old T-ShirtCoconut oil gets very messy! Don’t wear your fave top.

ClingfilmThis will keep the heat in and stop any oil from dripping down your face.

How To Make The Coconut Oil Hair Mask:

Put on an old t-shirt because coconut oil can stain and it can be really messy.

Comb through hair and detangle any knots.

Put a few tablespoons of solid coconut oil into a bowl and melt for 10 seconds in the microwave. Turning the solid oil into a hot liquid oil which will penetrate hair better than a cold oil. Give it a good stir.

Part hair into four sections and apply the coconut oil to the roots, mid-lengths and ends using the tinting brush for precise application.

If there is any left over oil just apply it to the hair with your fingers and massage in for a minute or two, paying attention to the scalp area to stimulate hair growth.

Comb through to ensure full coverage and even distribution.

Tie hair up into a bun and wrap the whole of your head with clingfilm.

Leave on for 1 hour + or overnight for an even deeper conditioning treatment. Make sure to place a towel over your pillow to prevent staining if you are leaving it on overnight.

To wash off – shampoo hair two or three times and condition as usual.  Coconut oil can be difficult to remove so it may require more than one wash to completely remove it from the hair.

Style hair as usual.

Use 1-2 times a week for lush, healthy hair!

Review: Toni & Guy – Leave In Conditioner For Dry, Frizzy & Damaged Hair

I bought some of Toni & Guy’s – Leave In Conditioner a few months ago as I was bleaching my jet black hair to make it a bit lighter and it was starting to look a little dry, brittle and damaged – especially at my ends. I needed a really good leave in conditioner to protect my hair from heat, to control frizz and to repair my damaged, fried hair at the same time. I thought I’d give the Leave In Conditioner a go as I loved the Damage Repair Shampoo & Conditioner so much that I was hoping this would be just as good too.

First Impressions:

The Leave In Conditioner from Toni & Guy comes in a 100ml white tube which has a clear, lockable flip-lid. The packaging is okay – nothing to shout about and it has all the relevant info printed on the back. The product itself is a white, creamy lotion which has a smooth texture and the consistency of actual conditioner. It smells lush too! It doesn’t have the cruelty free bunny on the back and it is made by Unilever. The Leave In Conditioner makes hair manageable for all-day nourishment and hydration. It also controls frizz, moisturises dry hair and protects against humidity all day long. It is suitable for all hair types too.

I absolutely love this stuff girls! I was using Aussie’s spray but I like this one much better. I use the Leave In Conditioner every-time I wash my hair and I love how it smells, absolutely gorgeous. It kinda has a perfumey scent to it but it’s lovely and it makes the hair smell really nice! I use a small amount on towel dried hair and run it through my ends and mid-lengths, avoiding my roots to prepare my hair for styling.. After using my hair feels softer, moisturised and it really works to control frizz as well as acting like a heat protector. I have also used it on dry hair and it does work just as well although I do prefer to use it on damp hair.  Since using my hair doesn’t look as damaged as it did and it moisturises the hair instantly and tames frizz, flyaways and damaged ends. It also seems to be repairing my damaged ends a little too and I love how it protects my hair from heat so I’m not damaging my hair as much when blow-drying, straightening, curling, etc….

I love this Leave In conditioner – it’s probably one of the best I have ever used and I will defo be buying it again when the bottle is empty. I’ve had mine for a couple of months now and I still have lots left so it is long-lasting too. I also use Toni & Guy’s Damaged Repair Shampoo & Conditioner which I recommend using if your hair is really damaged or over-bleached.

Disclosure: I bought this product with my own money.

Where To Buy: You can buy some HERE on Amazon UK for £5.15. You can also pick a bottle up from the website, Boots or Superdrug.

Review: Pure African Black Soap – Mayka Skincare

Hey lovely ladies..

Back in October I was sent a bundle of natural skincare goodies from a British vegan skincare brand called Mayka Skincare. Mayka Skincare are a cruelty-free, natural brand who handcraft fresh products with natural botanicals and highly effective, active cosmetic ingredients. All of their products are handmade in Britain but they do offer worldwide shipping. When my parcel arrived I was chuffed to bits with the contents as I wasn’t expecting to receive so many products to review and I have been trying a few of them out for a couple of months.

The product I was most pleased with was the Pure African Black Soap which I have heard is amazing for skin complaints. As you all know I have psoriasis so I couldn’t wait to give it a go.

”Ordinary store-bought soaps can be too harsh or drying for your skin. African black soap is a gentle, all-natural alternative cleanser made only from plant materials. Proponents of African black soap say it does more than just keep you clean — the suds are packed with skin-loving benefits, too.” – LIVESTRONG

The 100g Soap comes in a cellophane wrapper with a Mayka Skincare label – the packaging is lovely, it has a natural feel to it and looks pretty enough to be given as a gift. Inside the packaging is the 100g Pure African Black Soap which I’ll admit doesn’t look very attractive but never judge a book by its cover hey. The soap is made from baked parts of the cocoa tree, unrefined butters and oils and is also rich in vitamins A and E. It is a beige, brownish colour and shaped into a ball and it doesn’t contain any artificial perfume, colours or preservatives either.

Sodium / potassium salts of fatty acids from edible vegetable oils: Sodium / Potassium Sheabutterate, Sodium / Potassium Palmkernelate, Sodium Potassium Cocoate, Glycerine, Aqua, Cocoa Bean Ash Residue

I’ve been using the soap for about four months and I’m surprised I still have some of it left especially as I use it every day.

I have never known a soap, never mind a natural soap to lather so well – and when washing with the soap it looks like I have a layer of cream on my skin. It is so creamy and moisturising and is also a great antiseptic soap which helps to prevent infection or bacteria on the skin. Since I’ve been using it, I have noticed an improvement in my skin, it hasn’t completely cleared my skin up but it has improved it a little and my psoriasis hasn’t gotten any worse. I’ve noticed it does sting my psoriasis at first but it’s not painful and the sensation eventually wears off after a few seconds and it’s worth it seeing as it helps to deep clean my skin, restore its natural barrier whilst moisturising and protecting it at the same time. I also use it on my face and I love how it removes every trace of oil and make-up from the skin without clogging my pores or drying out my skin and it is also a great anti-ageing soap as it is rich in vitamin A and E oils and helps to prevent premature lines and wrinkles.  The soap can also be used on the hair and scalp but I’ve not tried this yet but I will give it a go eventually and update the post.

The Pure African Black Soap is the perfect solution for problem skin such as oily, acne, eczema, psoriasis, dandruff and rosacea. I love how it is completely natural, cruelty free and contains no harsh chemicals or artificial ingredients which make it gentle on sensitive skin and also helps to improve skin disorders. I’m about to run out after four months but I will definitely purchase this soap again – I’d rather do my skin a favour and use a natural soap on my skin rather than a soap laden with chemicals and nasty ingredients which makes skin worse any day. Give the website a little visit girls – you won’t be disappointed. They do a huge range of cruelty-free, natural skincare products made with top quality ingredients that will help your skin. Natural is best!

Review: INSTAsmile – Upper Clip In Veneers In Shade BL1 – BEFORE & AFTER

Hey dolls… my long awaited clip in veneer review is finally here!!! I have always been self-conscious about my teeth and every time I smiled I would always cover my mouth to hide my smile. I have a huge gap in my front teeth and I have some overcrowding on the right side which I hate. I had always dreamed of having a perfect Hollywood smile and I even considered getting a brace or traditional veneers to fix my teeth and make them look better! But, they are both so expensive and way out of my budget costing thousands. A few months back, I seen a few photo’s of beauty bloggers wearing clip-in veneers on Instagram and I was very impressed with the before and after photo’s so I had a look on google and found INSTAsmile who specialize in custom-made, pain-free clip in veneers at an affordable price. I ordered straight away and it’s been a few months since I got them but I thought I would give them a good trial before I posted a review on them. So here we are 3 months later!

INSTAsmile clip-in veneers are made from safe, bio-compatible dental grade materials, perfect for cosmetic dental products which are BPA and Monomer free. INSTAsmile ship worldwide and give you the option to pay in full or spread the cost with interest free instalments. The first step is to complete the smile assessment online to check your suitability, you can then create your smile from a range of options, looks and shades. After placing your online order you will be sent a self impression kit with full easy-to-follow instructions to provide an impression of your natural teeth and gumline. Once you have sent your impression back, it will be checked to see if it meets the quality standard to be sure that you receive the best fitting veneers as possible. INSTasmile then digitally scan your impression and use it to create your bespoke, custom-made clip on veneers. The whole process takes about 3-4 weeks roughly.

After browsing through the website and reading some reviews, I went ahead and chose the CLASSIC clip-in veneers which are for occasional wear and cheaper than the  PLATINUM clip-in veneers which are for everyday wear.

The CLASSIC option cost from £249 and includes a safe, custom-made, stain resistant veneers which have a natural, slimline appearance with different shades to choose from. You can also Eat & Drink with them in.

The PLATINUM option are riced from £499 have the same features as the CLASSIC and also includes enhanced Durability, Express Service, Extended Warranty, Smile consultant, Enhanced Aesthetics, Innovative Technology, Impression Appointment, Precision Engineering.

I took the smile assessment HERE. It’s basically just a few questions to work out if clip-in veneers are suitable for you. You will be asked if you are having  any dental treatment, or if you have any oral health issues such as gum disease, bleeding, soreness or loose teeth. You will also be asked if you have 4 or more missing upper or lower teeth in a row. as you will need at least one tooth either side of your mouth to clip the veneers in.

After you have answered a few questions you will be asked what your smile goals are such as straighter looking teeth, to cover missing teeth, natural gaps or chipped teeth and to whiten teeth or hide overcrowding. I wanted straighter, whiter looking teeth, to cover natural gaps and hide overcrowding.

I chose the CLASSIC upper arch which is priced from £249

Top – £249
Bottom – £249
Top & Bottom – £379

Top – £499
Bottom – £499
Top & Bottom – £749

There are four shades to choose from. I chose the whitest shade BL1 for my upper arch as I wanted a super white smile but they are a lot whiter than my natural bottom teeth so I do wish I would have chosen shade A1. I suppose I could get my bottom teeth whitened so they are the same colour as the veneers but it’s not really noticeable as when I smile I only show my top teeth, my bottom teeth are not visible. Maybe I’ll get some BL1 clip-ins for my bottom too so they match! We’ll see hey.  So, yeah, keep this in mind if your only getting a top arch or a bottom arch as you want them to look close in shades to your own teeth as possible so they don’t look obviously fake and mismatched, especially if you can see all of your teeth when you smile/talk.

The shades available are below:

BL1 is the whitest shade available and gives the appearance of artificial, whitest white, dazzling teeth.

A1 is the most natural white that a tooth can be and radiates a slight whitened look.

A2 is a light ivory colour giving a natural look prior to undergoing any whitening.

A3 is a medium ivory colour slightly darker than A2 maintaining a natural tone

About two weeks after ordering my upper self impression / mould kit arrived in a small box and included was an instruction leaflet, two blue upper mouth trays, three yellow putty’s in small plastic tubs and three white putty’s in small plastic tubs as well as a sealable plastic bag to put your finished mould into when sending it back. The instructions show you how to create the putty and how to take a good impression of your teeth – I found watching this video tutorial helped.

I made sure to leave the kit for 12 hours at room temperature. For the upper set you need to mix and knead one yellow and one white putty together for 30 seconds to activate the putty. Roll the putty into an egg shape and place onto the front of the mouth tray by the handle. This step needs to be done quickly. Put the tray into your mouth and push from the bottom upwards, also press gently along your gumline and wait 3 minutes before removing. First time I tried it I was too slow and the putty became hard but I had two more tries and finally got a good impression.

Once I had taken an impression of my upper teeth I emailed a photograph of my impression to INSTAsmile for approval and was happy when they said it was a good impression and I could send it back to them. I put my impression in the plastic bag and back into the box it came in with the free delivery label that is included with the mould kit and sent it back to INSTAsmile so they could make my custom-made clip in veneers to fit my teeth.

I think it was about 3-4 weeks after sending off my impression kit when I received a dispatch email from INSTAsmile telling my veneers were on the way. I was so excited and didn’t expect them to be delivered the next day after I received the email. They came in a small box and inside was a free luxury mirror case which had my lovely, gorgeous, white veneers in.

I’m absolutely over the moon that I came across INSTAsmile and thought I’d be stuck with an ugly smile forever as I couldn’t afford real veneers and braces were too expensive. I wanted straighter, whiter looking teeth and to cover my natural gaps and hide overcrowding and my clip-in veneers have done just that, my appearance has been improved – I feel so much more attractive than I did and my self-confidence has been boosted so much. I no longer hide my teeth when I smile so I’m really happy about that.

I really love how white they are – I choose the whitest shade ‘BL1’ for my upper set but like I mentioned above they are a shade or two whiter than my natural bottom teeth which are a natural shade of white, more like A1 or A2 so although I wanted the whitest ones I do wish that I would have chosen A1 instead. I am going to whiten my bottom teeth just so they are the same colour as the veneers. The gap I had in my front has completley gone too and I absolutely love how straighter my teeth look. I have been looking in the mirror constantly as I can’t believe I have a gorgeous white, straight smile with no gaps and no overcrowding and I can actually smile in my selfies now instead of duck face pouting, haha.

The clip-in veneers are so easy to put in and take out and they feel tight, snug and safe on my teeth – they don’t move and there is no chance of them falling out. You just simply place them over your natural teeth, pushing up to click them in securely. They also blend into my gumline perfectly and it looks very natural. For the first few days of wearing them, I was talking with a lisp but it soon disappeared and I was taking normal again. I wear mine everyday and they are comfortable to wear although I will admit after a few hours I can’t wait to take them out. Obviously it does feel like you have something in your mouth when wearing them but over time you get used to it. INSTAsmile say you can eat and drink with them in but I did find it a little uncomfortable eating with them in so I do prefer to take them out when I’m eating but I do leave them in when drinking. They have proved to be stain resistant too and I have drank tea, coffee, red wine and coke whilst wearing them and they haven’t stained at all and they are still in tip-top condition after two months of wearing them near enough everyday.

Not only have INSTAsmile made me feel more confident but they have me the incentive to quit smoking too and it’s been two weeks since I had a ciggie. I have loved having straight, white teeth so much that the money I save from quitting smoking is being saved up so I can eventually get a brace and professional whitening. So thank you InstaSmile!

DisclosureI got these free for review purposes.

WHERE TO BUY: You can buy HERE – make sure to choose the correct flag for your country and currency.  If you have any questions at all you can contact INSTAsmile on the number below or email them with you queries.

Review: Superdrug – Stiletto Pink Shimmer Fashion Nails

Hey girlies… I got me some new nails! I was in Superdrug the other day and they still had lots of gorgeous stuff on sale so I went a bit mental with my bank card coz I love me  a bargain. I got loads of beauty and bath products for under £1 and I even got myself a gorgeous grey knitted hat with a pretty pink pom-pom for jus 49p. When I was at the till, I noticed they had a few different designs of false nails reduced and these pink shimmer ones caught my eye as they were really pretty and had a perfect stiletto shape so I just had to get them.

The Stiletto Pink Shimmer Fashion Nails come in a recyclable lilac and white polka dot box which has all the necessary information on the back. Inside the box is 24 light/pale, nudey pink nails which have a gorgeous stiletto shape and they are just the right length, not too short and not too long. I got one set out of the 24 nails as they didn’t have the right sized nails leftover to fit my fingernails. There is also a 2g tube of ‘pink’ glue included which has a screw off lid and tab so there is no need for scissors to cut the tube. I did expect the glue to be pink as the box states ‘pink glue’ but it was clear instead so I don’t know what Superdrug are chattin’ about. Ha! Not that I’m bothered!

I found them really easy to apply, they bonded to my natural nails quickly but the glue tube did need a bit of muscle to get some glue out. I was surprised at the glue too – usually I find that when glue-on nails are cheap the glue tends to be crap and the nails fall off within hours but these have stuck down pretty well & I still have them on a day later. Superdrug do say they are long-lasting so we will see hey.

UPDATE: By day 3 of wearing these nails they began falling off. Luckily – I always carry some glue in my handbag when I wear false nails so I could glue them back on. So, if you buy these use a stronger glue if you want them to stay on longer than a day as well as popping some in your handbag for emergencies. Nothing worse or more trampy-looking than a missing false nail. Ha.

To remove them you just cut down the middle of the artificial nail and soak them in some artificial nail remover until they dissolve – never force or pull false nails off as this can damage your natural nails.

Superdrug say the nails are suitable for vegetarians and vegans and the box has the leaping bunny / cruelty free international logo printed on the box although the nails and glue have been made in China and I thought it was law in China for all cosmetics and beauty products to be tested on animals. I might be wrong. The nails were £2.99 but the best before date is January 2018 so I got them in the sale for just £1.50. I didn’t know that artificial nails could go out of date, ya learn something new everyday hey – maybe it’s the glue. Superdrug do offer a 100% happiness, money back guarantee so if you do buy these nails and you are not happy with them for whatever reason you will probably get your dosh back.

Personally, I like the nails – I love the nudey pink colour and they have a subtle shimmer too so they look very pretty and natural plus the nails are quite strong and not flimsy at all so I do think they are great value for money – even at the full price of £2.99. The glue is quite strong but I am heavy handed so my nails do always fall off eventually. I would definitely buy these again and I will be going to Superdrug to have a look at the other designs available so I can stock up on some more.

Review: Facial Wax Strips – Pretty Smooth (Pretty By Quest)

Hello gorgeous girls! I hope you have all had the most magical Christmas ever and I’m wishing you and yours a healthy, happy and prosperous 2018! It’s been a while since I last posted hey – I have been meaning to post over the festive season but I have been so busy throughout December that I literally never had any time to do so – I’m one of those who leave everything until the last-minute so I have been running around like a crazy woman. But it’s over now, I can relax and I’m back with my first review of the year!

I’ve been using some Facial Wax Strips from a company called Pretty By Quest and I’m really liking the brand so far, I love how most of their products are not tested on animals and they are so inexpensive too. I have a few other products from them but I thought I’d write a review on their facial wax strips first. I usually hate waxing as I can’t bare pain but I love how quick and easy it is compared to tweezing and less irritating on my skin and smelly than hair removal creams.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: The Facial Wax Strips come in a small pink and white box which has all the info you need on the back of the box. The box has the cruelty free bunny on the back which means the wax strips and ingredients have not been tested on animals. There are 16 strips inside the box and each one measures 2 x 7.5cm which has two sides of pink wax when peeled apart and they are ideal for use on the chin, cheeks, upper lip and jaw line. They are a quick and easy solution to removing unwanted hair from the face and they are great value for money at just £1 a box from B&M.

HOW TO USE: I found the wax strips easy to use. First of all take one of the strips out of the box and warm one of the strips between your hands by rubbing them together for about 30 seconds. Gently peel the wax strips apart and apply the strip to the unwanted hair you wish to remove and smooth the strip in the same direction as your hair growth for about 10 seconds to ensure the hairs are coated with the wax and the strip is securely fixed to the skin. To remove the hair = hold the skin taut and pull the strip back on itself against the direction of hair growth, keeping the strip as close to the skin as possible. Afterwards use a cotton wool pad moistened with baby oil, coconut oil, etc… to remove any left-over wax from the skin and soothe the skin.

THOUGHTS: I really liked these facial wax strips and they are definitely a bargain at just a quid. There are enough strips in the box to last me a few months and they work really well considering the price. I love how they are cruelty free too. I have been using the strips on my upper lip and between my brows and I was impressed that every bit of hair was removed and they wasn’t as painful as I expected although they did hurt a little when removing them – more so on my upper lip area but it was quick and it only lasted a second. My skin wasn’t left red or inflamed either and I didn’t bruise. I wiped the excess wax off with my Omega Rich Cleansing Oil from Pure Potions and my skin was left smooth, soft and totally hair free afterwards. I would definitely 100% buy these again and I think they work just as good as more expensive ones from bigger, more popular brands.

DISCLOSURE: I bought this product with my own money.

WHERE TO BUY: I got mine from B&M for just £1. Pretty By Quest has a website which you can visit HERE and a Facebook page HERE.

How To Make Christmas Salt Dough Paw Print Ornaments

I love handmade Christmas craft projects and I seen these DIY paw print ornaments made from salt dough on Pinterest and I just had to try it out. I have two gorgeous Patterdale Terriers named Bella and Marley and they are my absolute worlds so I thought it would be a lovely idea to make some Christmas ornaments for my Christmas Tree with their paw prints. If looked after these will last years so they are not only easy to make they are very sentimental too and will allow you to cherish your pooches memory FOREVER. You can paint them any colour you like or glitter them like I did. Please be aware that these salt dough ornaments are toxic to dogs if eaten so make sure to put them high up on your tree so your pooch can’t nibble at them.

Here’s my babies:

Salt Dough Ornament Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of salt
  • 1 cup flour (I used plain flour)
  • 1/2 cup water
  • Straw or pen for punching a hole at the top

You Will Also Need:

  • A cup
  • Acrylic Paint & Small Paint Brush
  • Glitter & Modge Podge Gloss (optional)

How To Make:

Mix the flour, salt and water in a bowl until it becomes firm. Add a little water if it is too dry or add a little more flour if it is too sticky and wet.

Knead the dough for 30 seconds and roll out the dough with a rolling pin. Once done and you are happy with the thickness of the dough – cut individual circles using a cup.

Press your dogs paw into the salt dough circles and use a straw or pen to make a small hole at the top to allow you to thread some ribbon through. Alternatively you could use some decoration hooks which are very cheep to buy. If you use decoration hooks, make sure to insert them before you put them in the oven.

Sprinkle some flour onto a baking tray to stop the ornaments from sticking and place them on to the baking tray. Bake on 200 degrees in the oven for about 2-3 hours or until completely dry and hard.

When they are done, allow them to cool before painting or glittering. I painted mine with white acrylic paint and used modge podge on the paws and sprinkled with silver glitter then sealed the glitter with another layer of modge podge. I then wrote their names with red acrylic paint and painted 2017 on the back of the ornaments. I finished it off with a some pretty candy cane ribbon and hanged them on my tree.

I absolutely love them.

PIXI – Full Size Shea Butter Lip Balm in Natural Rose | RRP £8*

This is a tinted lip balm enriched with skin loving ingredients like shea butter and vitamin E which cares for your lips and prevents them from chapping. Apparently this Natural Rose tinted lip balm adds a lovely nude-pink colour to the lips. I’ve yet to use this balm but I’m looking forward to trying it out. It will make a nice change from my matte lipsticks which tend to dry out my lips, especially at this time of year.

BAIJA PARIS – Caramelised Honey Body Scrub | RRP £14.90

OMG first of all let me say how AMAZING this Caramelised Honey Body Scrub smells. It seriously smells good enough to eat and I can’t wait to give it a try. It is a pre indulgent and luxury scrub and is 97% natural skincare product. It has a blend of sugar, honey and  oil which exfoliates dead skin cells and leaves the skin feeling clean, soft and radiant. I`ve never used anything from Baija Paris before and I have never heard of them until now but this body scrub is probably my fave product in this months box simply because it smells so lush!

MAI COUTURE – Highlight Paper | RRP £15.50*

This Highlight Paper from Mai Couture is an interesting product and I`m looking forward to giving it a whirl. Apparently it absorbs excess shine, adds a non-greasy glow and enchances dull, worn make-up throughout the day making the skin look luminous and radiant.

NIP + FAB – Kale Fix Moisturiser | RRP £14.95*

This is the first time I have ever had a product from Nip + Fab but I have heard so many good things about the brand. The Kale Fix Moisturiser is a superfood blend of kale, water cress, aloe vera and almond oil which moisturises, soothes and rejuvenates the skin. I received a 10 ml sample so I will give it a go for a few days and let you know what I think about it.

Spectrum Collections – Full Size B04 Angled Blender Brush | RRP £4.99*

This B04 Angled Blender Brush is an essential tool and the perfect size and shape to fit the contour of the eyes. It has synthetic bristles and can be used with powder or cream shadows to define the eyelids. I am absolutely poo at doing eyeshadow but I think it is about time that I learned to do my own eyes and this brush is the perfect tool for the job.

Review: Percy & Reed – Smoothed, Sealed & Sensational Volumising No Oil Oil For Fine Hair

I received a 30 ml travel-sized bottle of the Smoothed, Sealed & Sensational Volumising No Oil Oil from Percy & Reed in my November Birchbox and I have used it a few times to try and add a bit of shine and volume to my dull, flat hair. The No Oil Oil comes in a small bottle with a  black lid and dispenser and it is a dry, clear oil that smells lovely too – it has quite a natural scent and it smells pleasant and fresh. It is a multi tasking hair oil which has been enriched with violet extract to make the hair smooth, sleek and shiny while adding a little volume to fine hair at the same time. It also contains vitamin B5 which helps to nourish, add strength and repair hair whilst wheat proteins provide protection from heat.

THOUGHTS: I like this oil so far although it’s not the best I have used. I found it easy to use and simply applied two pumps of the oil to my towel dried hair. It has a light weight, water-based formula which adds volume and body as well as providing a little hold without product build-up and it doesn’t make the hair feel greasy or leave hands feeling greasy after applying – I did find the oil to be a little sticky on my hands afterwards although my hair didn’t feel sticky at all. The No Oil Oil is recommended for those with fine to medium hair of any length that is limp and flat hair that lacks volume and there is also a No Oil Oil especially for thick hair too. I love how the No Oil Oil tames flyaway hairs and it also added a lovely shine to my hair, made it feel soft, smooth and sleek and it smells very nice too.

I didn’t see much difference in volume – just the tiniest amount of lift at my roots but my hair is quite thick so maybe the No Oil Oil for thick hair would be better for me. This is not my favourite hair oil and it’s not the best volumising hair product that I have used so I won’t repurchase and to be honest I don’t think it is worth the £14 for the full size 60 ml bottle – I have other hair oils and volumising products which cost less and work better but I do like how it made my dull hair shinier and it was great for taming flyaway hairs.

DISCLOSURE: I received this product in my BIRCHBOX subscription box which I pay for with my own money.

WHERE TO BUYYou can get some No Oil Oil for fine hair HERE on the Percy & Reed website. It is £14 for 60ml and also £14 for the No Oil Oil for thick hair HERE. If you enter your email address on the subscribe pop up you will get 15% off.

Birchbox: November 2017 – VOGUE – Plus Spoiler For The December Box

Hi girls, I’m a bit late posting about my November Birchbox this month as I have been super busy so I thought I’d get this post up before November ends. Birchbox has collaborated with Vogue Magazine in this months box to bring us a bundle of the best beauty products from the Vogue 100 Beauty Hall Of Fame. Included in every box is a mini Benefit Hoola Bronzer as well as a Birchbox makeup brush cleaner. Us Birchboxers got the chance to choose our own box design this month and I went with the one below because it looked more classic Vogue than the other. I’m very happy with this months box and I’m excited to see whats in store for our December/Christmas box.

Benefit – Hoola Bronzer | RRP £24.50*

I have been soooo excited about this product as I had never tried the Benefit Hoola Bronzer before although it has been on my wish list for ages now so I was very happy that I got a mini sample in my box which has given me the chance to try it before I purchase the full size. So far I’m loving it and I have used it everyday since my box arrived and I love the subtle, matte natural glow it gives my skin and it doesn’t shimmer, sparkle or shine. I will 100% be buying the full size but there is a good amount of product in the sample too so it might be a while yet before I’ll need to repurchase.

Percy & Reed – Smooth & Sensational Volumising No Oil Oil| RRP £14*

This oil comes in a small 30ml bottle with a dispenser and it is enriched with strengthening ProVitamin B5 and violet extract to nourish dry hair, tame unruly strands, protect from heat styling and gives hair a little volumising lift. I’ve never used anything from Percy & Reed before and it’s always good to try new brands so I’ll certainly be giving this a go.

Klorane – Gentle Dry Shampoo with Oat Milk | RRP £8*

This gentle dry shampoo is enriched with oat milk and gently absorbs excess oil while softening unruly strands, it also adds a little texture to the hair to prevent it looking flat and limp during washes. It smells lovely too. I’ll give it a proper go in the next few weeks and pop a full review up when I’ve done so.

Nuxe – Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Purpose Dry Oil Number 4  | RRP from £17*

This multi-purpose oil from Nuxe is a versatile oil and can be used on the face, body and hair. It has a blend of six essential oils to deeply hydrate and it smells lovely too. It has been on my wishlist for ages so I was over the moon when I received a 10 ml sample in my box. I have a few products from Nuxe already and I do like them so I hope I’ll like this oil just as much as the other products I have. So far, I have only used it once or twice as I’m testing another oil out at the moment but I’ll give it a good go in the next few weeks and put a review up for it.

Birchbox – Brush Cleaner | RRP £5*

Not really keen on the brush cleaner this month as I own quite a few already so it probably won’t get used – I will have to find somebody to give it to. It is a great tool for those who don’t own a brush cleaner already as it helps to keep brushes clean and in tip top shape and the grooves allow your brushes to be deeply cleansed which prevents bacteria buildup which causes spots, infection and blackheads.

*RRPs correspond to full-size products in the Birchbox shop.

In December us Birchboxers will be able to choose our own FULL SIZE festive lip product. We can choose a classic party red from LOC or a nice natural lip balm from PIXI. I’m undecided yet on which one I will choose.

Click HERE to use my referral link to sign up and you will get £5 off your first box!

It is £10 a month plus £2.95 postage.

Review: NYX – Double Stacked Mascara Base & Top Coat With Lash Fibers

So in my B&M haul I not only picked up the Turnt Up Lippies from NYX but I also got the Double Stacked Mascara too for about £3 – it retails for about £14/$15 on the NYX websites so I got myself a bargain. The mascara is a two piece set which comes in a small box and inside is a small white mascara tube full of nylon lash fibres to stack up your lashes and make them longer, more volumised and thicker. Also included is a black mascara for the base and top coat. To use you just apply a coat of the mascara to your lashes as a base then apply some of the nylon fibers over and finish with top coat of mascara.

ABOUT: ”Stack ‘em up! This incredible fiber formula stacks your lashes with all of the drama you could ever imagine. In just three simple steps, you’ll be batting luscious-looking lashes and collecting suitors wherever you go. – NYX

I have the blondest eyelashes in the world and when I don’t wear mascara it looks like I have baldy eyes, they are not too short and with the right mascara they can look long but they are so thin and I’d love them to be more full and thicker so I thought I’d give this duo a go to see if it really works. I did find them easy to use although I couldn’t get any of the nylon fibers out of the tube so I had to take the plastic plug out of the tube neck to get a good amount of fiber. When applying the fiber to my lashes it did look clumpy at first and I thought after I applied the top coat of mascara my lashes would look clumpy but I liked how they turned out. They do look noticeably longer, much thicker and more volumised than they did before. I did think the fibers would make my lashes look spider-like but I’m very happy with how they look, plus my eyes look much bigger too. I would recommend this mascara and I’d definitely buy it again without a doubt. The only downside is the fibers fall into the eyes so it kinda feels like you have something in your eyes but after a while the feeling goes away. I think this duo set is great value for money and I’m chuffed I paid so little for it from B&M when it costs £14 everywhere else.

DISCLOSURE: I bought this with my own money.

WHERE TO BUY: You can pick up a Double Stacked Mascara at your local B&M Store or you can get it here for £14 on the NYX UK website. If you are from the USA you can get it here for $15.

Review & Swatches: NYX – Turnt Up Lipsticks – Priviliged, Beam, Twisted & Burlesque

You dolls will already know that I have a keen eye for a bargain so I jumped at the chance when I seen these Turnt Up Lipsticks from NYX in my local B&M Store. I got the shades Priviliged, Beam and Twisted in a 3-piece set for about £3.99 and the Burlesque one was £2 odd. They had lots of other shades to choose from too but I chose the shades that I thought would suit my skin tone.

ABOUT: ”Speak volumes with a bold swipe of Turnt Up! Lipstick. Go as soft or get as loud as you like using our wide range of 22 statement-making shades. From chic nudes to deep vampy hues, these lightweight and creamy lippies glide on effortlessly. Leaving lips with a kiss of shine and high-impact color you can count on for an unforgettable look.” – NYX

Burlesque is a deep wine, burgundy, berry shade and I actually like it . It’s not something I would wear of a day but it would look great for a night out or whenever you are getting dolled up and want to look vampy. It is a staple autumn/winter shade and is a dark, red purple-ish colour that is so pigmented and one swipe gives high impact colour. I did find it stained the lips though and it transferred so bad – it was everywhere but a blot with a tissue sorted it out and stopped it from transferring as much.

This shade really surprised me, I did initially think this bright violet-purple colour would look awful on my lips but I actually like it and it is probably my favourite shade out of the four I picked up – I’ve worn this shade a couple of times already and it is a little bright for day wear but I wear it anyway and it would definitely look amazing on a girls night out. . I LOVE it, it’s so wearable, looks pretty and it’s so pigmented and gorgeous. If mermaids wore lipsticks this Twisted shade would be it.

Privileged is a gorgeous hot pink shade which is super girly, bright and fun. A perfect colour for spring and summer. I rarely wear bright pink lipsticks as I prefer my reds but this is a colour I will definitely wear on a night out. Like burlesque this does transfer a lot and it does stain the skin a little.

BEAM #07

Beam is a neon, fluorescent, bright pinky-coral shade and it has a slight shimmer too. It is so pretty. I wear this of a day and I do really like it. It doesn’t look as shiny as the other three shades and it looks a little chalky but I do like it and it’s my second fave out of the four that I picked up. It’s so pretty and will look amazing in spring and summer against tanned skin. My pics below really don’t do this colour justice – it is so much brighter in the flesh.

I do like these Turnt Up Lipsticks and I love that there are 22 shades to choose from. The packaging of the lipsticks is okay I guess – they are small little black tubes with white writing on and they have clear plastic lids so you can see the lipstick – the lids do fall of easily though so be careful if placing in your make-up bag, pockets or handbag as they will stain fabric. The lipsticks have a slightly slanted tip making them easy to apply and they have a super creamy formula which applies smoothly and doesn’t feel drying on the lips – it actually feels like you are wearing a lip balm or chapstick and they have a lovely, mild, sweet scent sweet too. They leave a gorgeous shine on the lips and the colour is so intense and pigmented to say they are quite cheap to buy. These do transfer a lot so I do blot with tissue when wearing which prevents them from spreading onto the skin as much, but they really do get everywhere –  I smoke so when I have a cigarette the lipstick transfers all over my fingers and they stain the skin too especially the burlesque shade so keep this in mind before buying. Blotting does help a little. I do like these lipsticks though and I will definitely buy them again – I have my eye on shades Flutter Kiss, Rockstar and Hollywood for next time.

DisclosureI bought these with my own money.

Where To BuyI got mine from B&M – you can also get them on the NYX website here for £6.50.

Review: Beautiful Home – Frozen Berries Fragranced Oil Burner Set From B&M

Hey gorgeous girls, I bought this gorgeous little oil burner set last week in one of my B&M hauls and it was love at first sight – have you seen how pretty it looks. I’m a sucker for candles, wax melts, oil burners and fragrance oils so when I saw the Frozen Berries Fragranced Oil Burner Set from the Beautiful Home collection for just £5.99, I had to buy it, even though I have tons of oil burners already.  Can you ever have too many?

The oil burner set comes in gorgeous glittery packaging which is pretty enough to be given as a gift to someone – it’s definitely worth getting a few of these in for Christmas gifts. Inside the glittery box is a gorgeous, creamy-white ceramic oil burner which has heart and star cutouts, 4 glittery tealights and a frozen berries fragrance oil.

Oil burners are easy to use – you just half fill the reservoir at the top with water and add a few drops of the scented oil and then light a tea light and place it at the bottom of the oil burner. The frozen berries scented oil smells absolutely lush. I have also been using this oil burner with some of my wax melts too and I love how pretty it looks, especially at night-time when you can see the tealight glowing through the star and heart cutouts. I really love my little oil burner set and I would definitely recommend it.

Disclosure: I bought this product with my own money.

Where To Buy: You can buy it at your local B&M store for £5.99.

Greenfrog Botanic – Relaxing Geranium & Peppermint Bodywash – RRP* / £8.95

I received a 100 ml travel sized, aeroplane safe bodywash which is actually a good size with a generous amount of product. It is a natural, vegan, cruelty-free plant-based bodywash infused with geranium and peppermint and also contains antibacterial organic soapberries and organic aloe vera. It contains no parabens, SLS or ALS ingredients and it’s made in the UK. It also won the Editors Choice at the 2017 Beauty Shortlist Awards so I’m very excited about it and I can’t wait to use it. It’s also recommended for people with dry skin, eczema, etc… so I’m interested to see how it works on my psoriasis. This is the first product I have owned from Greenfrog Botanic and to be honest I had never heard of the brand until now but I’m very happy this was in my box this month as I love natural skincare products and I’ll definitely be checking out some other products from Greenfrog Botanic..

Collection Cosmetics – Define & Perfect Eyebrow Powder – RRP* / £4.19

The Define & Perfect Eyebrow Powder is a defining powder which fills in sparse areas and adds depth. The formulation contains fibre particles to add instant volume and the fine-tipped nib lets you create natural hair-like strokes. I have jet black hair and I received the brunette 2 shade which is too light for me so I probably wont use it… if I do I will layer it over my brow pencil to add a bit of oomph to my brows.

BOOTS – Charcoal & Willow Bark Sheet Mask – RRP* / £2.50

I was so excited when I seen this Charcoal and Willow Bark Sheet Mask in my box as I love a good face mask and sheet masks, originally a Korean trend, are the future. The mask contains willow bark and charcoal to deeply cleanse and purify the skin. The only thing is it contains parabens so if you say no to parabens you won’t be happy with this sheet mask. When are big, popular brands going to ditch harsh ingredients from their products. I’ll give it a go anyways and post a little review when I’ve done so.

In next months box we will all receive a gorgeous Liquid Eyeliner from Steve Laurent in gorgeous rose gold packaging. I can’t wait!

Review: Dr. Botanicals – Duo Moisturiser Tropical Invigorating Cream

I was kindly sent the Tropical Invigorating Cream from Dr. Botanicals to try out and review on my blog. Dr. Botanicals are a London-based natural & vegan skincare brand which are kind to skin as well as animals. The Tropical Invigorating cream is a duo moisturiser enriched with Elderflower which aims to protect the skin from free radical damage, it also contains Tiare Flower Extract which aims to deeply moisturise, nourish and purify the skin as well as Chaomile Flower Extract too which works to heal and soothe irritated and damaged skin.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS: The Tropical Invigorating Cream comes in a eco-friendly cardboard box which has lots of info printed on it about the cream, ingredients, etc… The cream itself comes in a flexible, metal tube which has a black screw lid. The packaging is gorgeous and the design on the tube is very pretty – it has what looks like gorgeous pink Adenium flowers all over the tube with forest green and aqua blue leaves too. It really is pretty packaging. The cream itself has a very mild, flowery scent which smells beautiful and it is a lightweight yet thick, non drip cream that spreads easy onto the skin.

The skin on my face has been awful lately and I recently broke out in angry blemishes all over my face, I’m not sure why or what caused me to break out but I’m glad that my skin has started to improve this week. I’ve been using Pure PotionsOmega Rich Cleansing Oil to cleanse my skin followed by a gentle Orange Blossom Water Toner from FoxBrim Naturals and then this duo moisturiser from Dr Botanicals. My skin has finally started to go back to normal since I have been using completely natural skincare products on my face.

So, I’ve been using the Tropical Invigorating Cream each morning and every night to moisturise my sensitive skin and I really do like it a lot. It is a gentle cream that contains no parabens or artificial ingredients which my skin always seems to react to. I love how it smells too and it doesn’t smell artificial or chemical-like at all – it has a lovely, subtle flowery scent which smells gorgeous and pretty although some may find it to be quite bland, I actually liked it.  A small dollop of the cream is enough for my entire face and neck so I’m guessing the 50 ml tube will last a while – I’d say about two or three months at the most if used daily. The cream glides over the skin like silk and I was very impressed with how long it took to absorb into the skin – like one minute, not even that. I hate waiting around for creams to dry so the fact that this cream dries quickly, gets a big thumbs up for that reason alone. The cream didn’t feel sticky or greasy either and it left my skin feeling softer and firmer. I noticed it moisturised my fine lines too and they don’t look as deep or prominent as before. Also, my skin looks a lot calmer and more balanced since I began using it and it doesn’t look red or irritated as it has been these past few weeks so I’m happy about that.

I really love that this is a vegan-friendly, cruelty-free moisturiser which is completely natural and I would love to try a few other products out from Dr. Botanicals, you really can’t go wrong with natural skincare products can you.

The only negative thing I have to say about the cream is the price tag. At £39.90 for a 50 ml tube I do think it is a bit on the expensive side and out of my usual budget for a moisturiser. I would definitely use this cream again although I doubt I’d repurchase it, simply because of the price. If the price was lowered I would 100% buy the Tropical Invigorating Cream again.

DISCLOSURE: This product was gifted to me for review purposes only. My opinion has not been influenced by the brand and this review is based on my own experience with the product.

WHERE TO BUY: You can buy the Tropical Invigorating Cream HERE for £39.90 from Dr. Botanicals’ website. You will get free delivery on all orders over £30 & you will receive a complimentary tote bag with every order over £50.
