REVIEW: Witch Skincare – Blemish Gel

It’s not often that I get spots and pimples but when I do they are always painful as hell and no amount of concealer will cover them. I never squeeze my spots as this does more damage than good so I picked up this Blemish Gel from WITCH last week after I woke up to a small, painful pimple on my chin and I have been really surprised at how well and how fast it has worked.

Witch – a British skincare brand, has been around for absolute years – over 50 years. Their products are aimed at problem skin and are recommended for oily/combination skin although they are suitable for all skin types. The Blemish Gel helps to keep your pores clean by dissolving oil and it combats pimple-causing bacteria by tackling the causes of spots. It cleanses, tones, soothes and leaves the skin balanced, soft and healthy-looking. It also contains antioxidants which help to maintain normal skin renewal and encourage the natural cycle of skin replenishment, especially important for when your skin is recovering from a breakout.

Witch say they don’t test on animals too, although there is no cruelty free bunny on the back of the box!

REVIEW

The Blemish Gel comes in a small brightly coloured box and inside is the 35ml squeezy tube. The gel is a thick, transparent gel which has a mild, ‘clean’ scent.

WITCH - Blemish Gel For Spots & Pimples REVIEW

I applied a little of the blemish gel to my sore, inflamed pimple and went to bed – when I woke the next morning, the pimple was still there but it was nowhere near as painful as it was the day before and it didn’t look as angry or red as it did. I applied the gel again that morning and a few times throughout the day and before bed and it slowly began to disappear. Witch recommend using the gel in the evening, before you go to sleep as it lets the gel do it’s work whilst you sleep!  By day 3 of using the blemish gel, the angry pimple had gone and I was a happy girl.

I think the blemish gel works wonders on the odd pimple – it helps to tighten pores and close damaged skin, which reduces inflammation and re-infection and it encourage healing too. It definitely did the job for me!  I’m not sure how it would work on acne or if you have severe spots/pimples but I would recommend the gel for the odd breakout. I’ll definitely use this again and there is enough product in the tube to last ages so not only does it work but it’s value for money too.

It is a great little product to have for emergencies.

Sunday Pamper Sesh: Argan Oil Mud Mask – 7th Heaven (Review)

Hi girls,

I think I have quite an addiction to face-masks you know. I have purchased so many and although most are still sitting there unopened I still get the urge to buy more. I use a few different brands but I have noticed that I always go back to 7th Heaven face masks, good job they are cheap as chips, hey! So, on my latest shopping spree I picked up a few sachets of 7th Heaven face-masks, ones which I had not yet tried and added them to my ever-growing, face-mask draw. My skin has been a bit on the oily side and I have broken out in a few pimples here and there, they actually hurt. (I’m blaming the cheap ass Halloween make-up I used last week.) Basically, my skin is oily and problematic at the moment so I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to try out the Argan Oil Mud mask from my all-time favourite cruelty free brand 7th Heaven (aka Montagne ) to help soothe and balance out my skin as I look like I have a volcano erupting on my chin right now and it hurts like a bitch!

The mud mask is recommended for oily – combination skin and it can be used as a weekly, 10-15 minute treat for your face. The mud contains Kaolin Clay as well as Bentonite Clay and also includes Moroccon Argan Oil, antioxdant-rich Acai Berries and an anti-wrinkle favourite of mine, Rosehip Oil.

There are lots of other skin loving ingredients in the mud too.

First Impressions

The mud is beige, peachy and pale skin coloured, quite similar in colour to the foundation I wear and it smells sweet and pleasant although I did think it smelled a little artificial. It has a smooth, creamy texture and glides over the skin effortlessly and it felt soothing on my skin once applied. In one 15g sachet there should be enough for two applications, depending how much of the mud you use. Just be sure to seal the sachet up so the mud doesn’t dry out. I fold mine over at the top and use a kirby grip to keep it sealed.

Results:

Five minutes after applying the mud, the beige coloured mud lightened to an off-white, chalky colour and I began to feel the mud drying in some areas with a tightening sensation. After around ten minutes the mud had completely dried white all over.

I left the mask on for around 15-20 minutes and found it washed off easily with warm water and a face cloth. My skin felt super soft and clean afterwards and it looked a lot brighter and less oily. I don’t usually get oily skin but after using cheap Halloween make-up last week my skin has been problematic and greasy and I as mentioned above I broke out in a couple of spots, so this mask has been perfect for balancing my oil levels. My spots don’t feel as irritated and as sore as they did either and my complexion looks better overall. I will definitely use this mask again and I think I will buy the bigger tube next time instead of the sachet.

Where to buy?

I got mine from Sainsbury’s for 79p a sachet although they are pretty much available anywhere. Home Bargains stocks them as does ASDA, Superdrug and you can get the full size 175g tube for £5.99 on Amazon UK right here.
