DIY CRAFT PROJECTS: How To Make Your Own Super Easy Bookmarks

I’m quite a perfectionist when it comes to my books and I like to keep them looking as new as possible – folding the edge of the pages is a big no no. I didn’t have any bookmarks to place in my book once I finished a chapter today so I tore up a piece of paper and stuck it inside the book. It didn’t look pretty and I had a great little idea to make some bookmarks myself. Once I made one, I couldn’t stop and I’ve made about ten so far, haha (will give them to friends/family). They were soooo easy to make too, I had everything I needed and they took five minutes to make. So, if you bookworms are after an easy craft tutorial – your in the right place! 📕 😘

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • Cardboard Cut To Size You Want
  • Cellotape
  • Scissors
  • Magazine Cuttings or
  • Pretty Paper / Gift Wrap or a
  • Printer to print off your own designs

HOW TO MAKE THE BOOKMARK:

  1. Trim cardboard to the size you want
  2. Flick through a magazine to find words/images that you like and cut them out
  3. or use that pretty scrap paper you have lying around
  4. or gift wrapping paper
  5. or you could print some cool bookmark templates off from google images/pinterest if you have access to a printer
  6. Place your chosen design over the cardboard, folding edges neatly and covering the back of your bookmark too
  7. Trim any excess paper to neaten up the edges
  8. Place cellotape over the paper ( I used a 5” wide cellotape so it pretty much covered the whole front so there were no lines or joins visible)
  9. Secure the cellotape to the back of the cardboard overlapping it at the edges
  10. Place cellotape around all four edges again and trim away the excess tape

You could also add a ribbon to your bookmark too – simply make a small hole at the top of the bookmark and thread through some pretty ribbon – tie it into a bow. Voila!
