Review: White Ceramic Unicorn Table Lamp – ASDA / GEORGE Home

Hiya girlies… If you follow me on Instagram you will know that I fell in love with a Unicorn shaped lamp in Asda a few weeks ago!

29541477_10215480641473521_6787408516643716517_n

at the time I never had the money on me to buy it as I only popped in for a pint of milk but I eventually decided to treat myself because I thought the lamp was just beautiful, so I went ahead and bought it online a few days ago.

The lamp made from 100% ceramic which has a white finish and it measures 26cm in height, 11cm width, 17.5cm depth and weighs 2kg.

It requires no assembly and batteries are not needed either. Instead it is a low energy LED table lamp which comes with a G4 LED, long-lasting capsule bulb and is sold with the energy class of A+, A++ and A.

Bulbs can be replaced by peeling back the base pad and opening the compartment at the bottom of the lamp. It also has a 1.8m length cable.

The lamp is £22 which I think is totally worth it. It’s so pretty and is the perfect lamp for us unicorn believers. I do prefer it as a decorative ornament rather than a lamp as I think it looks better unlit but it does create a soothing, soft glow which is not too bright when lit – kind of like a night-light. It is absolutely beautiful and I have it on my desk at the moment to create a fun, decorative, magical atmosphere. I may even buy another and place them in my bedroom on my bedside cabinets – both sides of my bed.

I definitely recommend this lamp – I love mine and I’m so glad I bought it!

Where To Buy:

You can buy the Unicorn lamp HERE for £22 on the George HOME website. Delivery is an extra £2.95 for standard delivery which takes about 2-3 days to arrive and it is £4.50 for next day delivery. You could also purchase it in-store – if it hasn’t sold out.

Asda have recently launched a unicorn-themed homeware collection – absolutely gorgeous, I want everything… take a look at the magic HERE.

Lots Of Love

Review: Wickford & Co – Cherry Blossom & Jasmine Luxury Scented Candle Jar

Hey dolls, sorry ’bout being on the missing list the last few weeks but I have had the worst few weeks ever and it has sent me off track,  my laptop decided to break and then my phone broke so I had to save to replace them – it’s been so hard, technology is addictive, right? So, brand new laptop, new phone (which means better photo’s – my last phone was RUBBISH) and it’s bloggy time! I’m just doing a quick little candle review today to get me back into the swing of things…

When I pop into Home Bargains, I always pick a couple of candles up – I love how cheap they all are and they are also great value for money. I picked up a Cherry Blossom & Jasmine large candle jar by HB candle brand Wickford & Co for £2.99. They also have tumblers for 99p, small jars for 69p, votives for about 39p I think as well as wax melts and scented tea-lights. I love Wickford & Co candles, I think I have had every scented candle they have done and I always re-buy them as you can tell by my posts – they are a great alternative to more expensive candle brands like Yankee Candles, which cost a lot, lot more.

WICKFORD & CO CANDLES HOME BARGAINS CHERRY BLOSSOM & JASMINE

The Cherry Blossom & Jasmine candle I bought comes in a clear large jar with a glass lid and it is filled with a sweet smelling lilac coloured wax. There is a clear sticker/label on the front of the tumbler which features a gorge gold Wickford & Co logo and it has a pretty picture of some pink flowers (I think they are cherry blossom flowers?). It also states that the candle will burn for upto 95 hours which is true and I’ve had mine for well over two weeks now and I light it every night.

WICKFORD & CO CANDLES HOME BARGAINS CHERRY BLOSSOM & JASMINE 5WICKFORD & CO CANDLES HOME BARGAINS CHERRY BLOSSOM & JASMINE 2

The jar and the label look quite expensive too and you would never guess by looking at it that it was only £2.99.

WICKFORD & CO CANDLES HOME BARGAINS CHERRY BLOSSOM & JASMINE 4

When lit, the candle does smell sweet and slightly floral but it’s not an overpowering scent and to be honest I could hardly smell anything at all after a while. Like I have said about the other Wickford & Co Candles which I have reviewed – I’m not sure if it’s a soy wax candle or a paraffin one so I’m guessing it’s made with parrafin wax as it’s much cheaper than soy wax. This candle doesn’t smell as strong as some of the others I have tried but it does look pretty so I will buy it again – but it’s not my first choice candle from the brand.

I love my candles, I love getting all cozy of an evening, watching TV or listening to music with a couple of candles lit – so relaxing.  Wickford & Co candles are right up there with my favourite candle brands, they smell lovely, they look pretty and they are budget-friendly and cheap.

Have you tried Wickford & Co Candles before? What did you think? Yay or nay?

Review: Beautiful Home – Frozen Berries Fragranced Oil Burner Set From B&M

Hey gorgeous girls, I bought this gorgeous little oil burner set last week in one of my B&M hauls and it was love at first sight – have you seen how pretty it looks. I’m a sucker for candles, wax melts, oil burners and fragrance oils so when I saw the Frozen Berries Fragranced Oil Burner Set from the Beautiful Home collection for just £5.99, I had to buy it, even though I have tons of oil burners already.  Can you ever have too many?

The oil burner set comes in gorgeous glittery packaging which is pretty enough to be given as a gift to someone – it’s definitely worth getting a few of these in for Christmas gifts. Inside the glittery box is a gorgeous, creamy-white ceramic oil burner which has heart and star cutouts, 4 glittery tealights and a frozen berries fragrance oil.

Oil burners are easy to use – you just half fill the reservoir at the top with water and add a few drops of the scented oil and then light a tea light and place it at the bottom of the oil burner. The frozen berries scented oil smells absolutely lush. I have also been using this oil burner with some of my wax melts too and I love how pretty it looks, especially at night-time when you can see the tealight glowing through the star and heart cutouts. I really love my little oil burner set and I would definitely recommend it.

Disclosure: I bought this product with my own money.

Where To Buy: You can buy it at your local B&M store for £5.99.

Review: Wickford & Co – Vanilla Snowflake Luxury Scented Candle (99p – Home Bargains)

So in my Home Bargains haul yesterday I picked up the gorgeous Vanilla Snowflake scented candle by Wickford & Co for just 99p. I was looking for some of the large jars,  you know the ones that are £2.99 but they were completely sold out of all scents – they only had these glass tumbler candles left. I love Wickford & Co candles and they are a great alternative to more expensive candle brands like Yankee Candles for instance – which come with a hefty price tag. So, if you have never had one get down to your local Home Bargains and pick some up. They do sell out quite quickly though!

22519194_1787793491513332_6848953623008637684_n22539045_1787793424846672_42333047316060337_o22450133_1787793511513330_2334652127404661639_n

The Vanilla Snowflake candle comes in a clear glass tumbler and it is filled with 3/4 of creamy-white wax. There is a clear sticker/label on the front of the tumbler which features a gorge gold Wickford & Co logo and it has a pretty picture of some vanilla, snowflakes and flowers. The glass tumbler and the label looks quite expensive and you would never guess by looking at it that it was only 99p. When I have used the candle I will be keeping the jar for my DIY homemade candles as it is a good size and looks good. I love to recycle and I love to make my own candles so I keep my used candle jars, clean them up and it saves me a bit of money from buying new jars. Genius, huh?

22491719_1787793648179983_4149831337944883935_n

The candle itself smells like sweet, creamy vanilla and it is just beautiful. The scent is not as potent or long-lasting as Yankee Candles but you can still pick up the scent nonetheless and it makes the room smell lovely and cozy. If your the crazy type of erson who doesn’t actually light your candles and you just use them for display/decoration then these will really look amazing. I’m not sure if it’s a soy wax candle or a paraffin one as it doesn’t say on the bottom like it does with the big jars – so I’m guessing it’s made with parrafin wax as it’s much cheaper than soy wax. It also doesn’t say how long it burns for so I’ll have to put it to the test and update this post when I’ve done so.

22528305_1787793698179978_3435597931420088853_n

You will probably know already how much I love my candles and Wickford & Co candles are up there with my favourite brands. They are so popular and I haven’t met anybody who doesn’t like their candles. They smell lush, they look good and they are budget-friendly and cheap. They really do look and smell pretty and this Vanilla Snowflake candle would make the perfect Christmas gift. I’ll be buying a ton more to hand out as gifts this Christmas.

Oh, and just to let you guys know, although they had sold out of all the other scents – they still had loads of the ‘Halloween’ candles left. You can read my review for it here.

Cinema Light Box Only £5.99 At Home Bargains

So, yesterday I went on a big massive shopping spree in Home Bargains (my fave shop) and I picked up lots of gorgeous things – treats & sweets, a few beauty/hair/skincare products, some craft bits and bobs and a fab Cinema Light Box which I’ve had on my ‘to-buy’ list for quite a while. I bought the Cinema Light Box for just £5,99 and I think it’s an absolute bargain considering they are priced at around £12-£20 or more elsewhere so I thought I’d let you dolls know about it.

22519212_1787712104854804_917547473635614250_n22519506_1787712108188137_6443590683123437180_n

The Cinema Light Box is an LED style light box which comes in an outer cardboard box and it includes 90 changeable plastic letters and symbols. All you have to do is tear off the letters you want to use, take off the protective layer and slide them in to the box to create your own personalised message. It has an on/off switch at the side of the box too. It can be mounted onto the wall as it has two holes either side of the box where you can hang from. It’s also free-standing too so you can stand it up wherever you wish.

22491674_1787712611521420_2457625827487944885_n22450115_1787712614854753_1086890662051908274_n

It requires 3 x AA batteries which are not included. I use rechargeable batteries in mine which last longer and I also have a battery charging plug so I can charge them, which makes life easier no more running out for new batteries. On the back of the box is the battery holder and you will need a tiny ‘star’ screwdriver to screw the back of it off. I used a normal screwdriver at first but it didn’t fit so I had a look in my craft box and luckily found a small screwdriver.

22519529_1787712608188087_6036106410431040210_n

I absolutely love my little Cinema Light Box and it’s in my bedroom right now but I will be going back to Home Bargains to purchase another for my living room. It’s a well made, good quality, budget-friendly A4 light box and measures L 30 x W 22 x D 4.3 cm approximately. Perfect for Christmas, Birthday’s, parties, special announcements or just as a personalised room lamp. Deffo recommend!

Budget Yankee Candle Dupe: Wickford & Co – Halloween Candle From Home Bargains (£2.99)

I absolutely love my candles and there is nothing better than relaxing on an autumn/winter night with a gorgeous smelling candle lit. I was over the moon when I spotted these ‘Halloween‘ themed candle by Wickford & Co sitting on the shelves in Home Bargains and for just £2.99, you know that I had to get myself one.

22308883_1785835758375772_7798881407934540325_n22308652_1785835765042438_6762669642356580417_n22310430_1785835761709105_5492858098108614857_n22366379_1785835961709085_2209236390909958870_n

Wickford & Co candles are probably one of my fave candle brands ever, simply down to the fact that they are budget-friendly, Yankee Candle dupes. They look so similar to Yankee Candles which cost around £24 for a large jar and the same size Wickford & Co candles cost a fraction of that price at just under £3.

Thoughts:

The Halloween Candle by Wickford & Co comes in a large, glass mason jar which has a glass lid. On the front of the candle it has a clear sticker on it which features a gold ‘Wickford & Co’ logo and has a cute pumpkin image on it too.

There is a bit of info at the bottom of the glass jar which mainly tells you about warnings, precautions, etc… plus it says what the candle contains – although it doesn’t say what type of wax the candle is made from so I’m guessing it is paraffin wax, but don’t quote me on that. It is a 95-hour candle which will last for ages – 95 hours is like, what, four whole days. So if you leave it to burn constantly, it will last four days! Wow!

22366577_1785836148375733_5232429649089927197_n22365347_1785835955042419_6486549148214483895_n

The Halloween scented candle itself is a bright orange colour and I can’t really work out how to describe the scent. It is very sweet-smelling and my first thought was that it smells like candy or lollipops. It lingers too, not as much as Yankee Candles but it’s potent enough that it can be picked up by the nose. I left my candle burning at home when I took my two dogs out for a 10 minute walk and when I come back home I could smell the scent all over my apartment.

22406403_1785835958375752_8716956755608892836_n

I’ve lost count of how many Wickford & Co candles I’ve bought over the years and there is a little review already on my blog for the winter/Christmas themed candles (Warm Apple & Cinnamon, Mulled Wine and Gingerbread) which you can read HERE.

1

I love Home Bargains as you genuinely do pick up some bargains for the home and their Wickford & Co candles are just gorgeous and fabulous. I definitely recommend them and if you’re popping into your local HB anytime soon… don’t forget to pay the candle aisle a little visit as you will not be disappointed. I am soooo excited for Halloween now and I’ll be picking a few more candles up next time I pop into Home Bargains.

USB Candle Lighter

Oh and not to forget… I also bought myself a USB long, candle-lighter as I find it difficult getting my hands into candle jars to light them up. This candle lighter is so easy to use and has saved me from bruised hands and knuckles many-a-times. I got it HERE if you guys are interested. I think it was £19.99 and because you charge it by USB it doesn’t need refilling with fuel so it’s perfect.

Review: Yvettevans – Light Up ‘Hollywood’ Cosmetic Mirror

Some of you may know that I am a top Amazon UK reviewer and because of this I regularly get sent various things to review on Amazon. I love it when I’m sent beauty-related items and I was over the moon when I was kindly gifted this Lighted Cosmetic Mirror from a company called Yvettevans.

I just had to tell you all about it by posting a short n’ sweet review on my blog as I love it so much and thought you guys would like to hear about it.

''''

Thoughts:

The Lighted Cosmetic Mirror arrived in an outer cardboard box and inside was the mirror and a leaflet which tells you how to use, battery installation,  cautions, etc… It also comes with 12V 23A energy-saving and long-lasting batteries installed which can be replaced when needed. The mirror is a small, lightweight and portable compact mirror made with ABS, glossy, hard plastic and distortion-free glass so you can see every little detail on your face. It is a two-sided folding mirror with one side being a light up mirror made with polished glass and the other side is a 2 x magnification mirror. There are four bright LED lights either side of the mirror so eight lights altogether and they can be turned on/off by pressing the touch screen circle at the top of the mirror. The lights can also be dimmed or brightened by keeping your finger on the touch button and they help you to apply your make-up much easier under dark and poorly light conditions.

22406141_1785801275045887_2468069552972498689_n22308877_1785801218379226_731703465072649059_n22366553_1785801148379233_2646190364648194516_n

There are three colours to choose from (white, pink, black), I chose the black as I liked it better than the other colours and thought it looked elegant and classy but the pink and white are lovely too.

The mirror doesn’t look cheap or flimsy and I absolutely love it, I really do. I use the mirror for applying my make-up, contact lenses and plucking my eyebrows and the lights come in handy for me as I have astigmatism of the eyes and myopia so the lights help me to see better. When I’m at home I keep it on my dressing table and it looks very pretty and gorgeous – when I’m on the go, I pop it into my handbag so I can check on my makeup throughout the day and touch up if necessary.

As you can tell I love my little light up mirror and I really do recommend it. I think it would make the perfect gift for girls and women everywhere and the quality of it is very good and it is great value for money.

Where To Buy?

You can get a Lighted Cosmetic Mirror HERE on Amazon UK.

There are three colours to choose from & they were £19.99 but they’re on sale for £9.99.

Same day and next day delivery are also available.

Easy DIY: Large Polaroid Poster Frame

Hey Girlies!

Hope you’re all doing good! I have a little project for you today… I’ll be showing you how I made my own Polaroid Photo Frame which I absolutely LOVE so I hope you guys like it too! I have tons of Polaroids lying around and I wanted to display them on my living room wall. I don’t like the look of them hanging from twine or fairy lights like you see on tumblr and pinterest and instead wanted a more cleaner, contemporary look so I opted for a large frame instead. It is super easy to make and it doesn’t cost the world and as well as being easy and cheap(ish) it looks absolutely fabulous plus it’s a wonderful way to display your favourite pics. Every-time somebody comes into my home, they always comment on how cool it looks and how much they love it, so I thought I’d share it on here to let everybody know how easy and simple it was to make. It will cost you a little bit of money but not as much as if you were to buy it ready-made from a photography shop. It only cost me the price of the large frame which was £19.99 and the price of the Polaroids which I got from Lalalab.

How To Make:

1. So first of all you will need a frame. I chose a large sturdy 61 x 91.5 maxi poster frame from Amazon UK which was £19.99, you could get the same size as I did or maybe get a smaller or bigger one. It has a 30mm frame, wall hangers included for both portrait and landscape display and is made of shatterproof Styrene instead of glass. I also chose the white frame but it is available in black too. I got my frame here if you’d like to take a look.

2. Next, you’ll need your Polaroids. If you haven’t already got some Polaroids lying around, you can head over to Lalalab and get some prints there. Simply click on ‘products’ on the menu and then ‘prints’ and chose the 10×12 vintage option, each print costs 0.39 euro’s which is about 35p or select ‘boxes’ (which is what I chose). In my LALABOX I got 32 photos in Vintage format (10x12cm). The box was 15.9 euro’s which is around £14. I did six rows of 5 Polaroids so 30 photo’s altogether. You can also add captions to your photographs and choose between eight colours too. The website is easy to use and you can upload pics from your computer or Facebook which is handy. If you enter my discount code: PGV2E9ZZ  upon checkout you will get yourself £5 worth of credit on your account. you’re very welcome! 🙂

(Read my Lalabox review HERE)

15027869_10210794422640979_5718252834196083357_n14993451_10210794410360672_5372032109324493766_n

3. Wait for the frame and your chosen prints to arrive. I got my frame the next day because I am an Amazon Prime Member but I waited a couple of days for my Polaroid prints from Lalalab to arrive.

4. Ok, so when they have both arrived, take the back of the frame off and there will be a blue advert poster already inside, turn it round onto the plain white side and using sticky tape or blu-tak, stick your pictures down onto the white side of the poster, spacing them all out evenly.

5. Check they are secure and once your happy with how they look, put the back of the frame back on and clip it down and voila!

All done.

Handmade Christmas: DIY Mr & Mrs Elf

There’s nothing better than chillin’ out with a cuppa whilst reading a mag but lash a magazine freebie in the mix and I’m basically in my apple cart. I have an obsession with buying mags especially when their is a free gift involved. I bought a copy of this months ‘Homemaker’ mag ‘Handmade Christmas’ for £4.99 to give me some Christmas craft inspiration and gifted with the mag was a Mr & Mrs Elf cloth kit which was designed by the super talented blogger Stephanie Thannhauser over at ric-rac.blogspot.com. I thought I’d share my little friends with you all, maybe you would like to pick a copy up yourselves and try making Mr & Mrs’ Elf too.

15253456_10210948232006117_5637895266090896536_n.jpg

Included in the kit was a printed Mr & Mrs Elf cloth kit, a small spool of white cotton and four little gold bells and the other items I needed were some polyester filling, pins, fabric scissors and a sewing machine although they can also be sewn by hand.

15170964_10210948243126395_1474954311372160614_n15181450_10210948233166146_730200692535372383_n

The instructions were on page 25 and here’s how I made it:

1. Unfold and press your printed fabric sheet. Use sharp scissors to cut out all of the shapes along the dotted lines, pair up the legs right sides together, holding the fabric to the light to make sure the print matches up.

15232072_10210949118548280_7452850126880550430_n

2. Pin and sew around the legs, leaving the top open. Clip the curves and corners, then turn the legs right sides out. Stuff with fibre filling (I used polyester filling) pushing the wadding right into the toes with a knitting needle (or the end of a pen) and tack along the top edge.

3. Match up the front and back body pieces and sew right sides together leaving the bottom edge open. Clip the curves and corners before turning right sides out and stuff the body firmly.

4. Turn in and pin the raw edge at the bottom. Position the legs between the bottom edges and over-sew the seam closed, securing the legs as you do so. Stich the bells to the end of each hat and hey presto Mr & Mrs elf are finished.

'''''''''''''''''''h.png

Don’t they look super cute and adorable!!! I love how they have turned out.

Go get your copy of Homemaker now and have a go yourselves.

Make sure you tweet me a picture at KatieRoseLovesx. I’d love to see yours!

Seasons Greetings,

Budget Yankee Candle Alternatives: Wickford & Co Christmas Candles – Gingerbread, Mulled Wine, Apple & Cinnamon

Christmas is coming to town kids…

So you know I had to get the candles in to get me into the swing of things. I love Christmas. I love my candles, any candles to be fair… but, you really can’t beat Christmas candles can you? There’s nothing better and nothing cozier than lighting a candle to get into the Christmas spirit.

1dfghjk.png

I bought three very large Wickford & Co candles from Home Bargains yesterday and at only £2.99 each for a large jar with around 95 hours burn time – they really are a bargain. You would pay over £20 for a same-sized Yankee Candle. Although these aren’t as strong smelling as Yankees but they are still smellable, Yankees are so potent. I love my Yankee’s but they can be expensive especially when you’re the type of person who has candles lit of a DAY and of a night when I’m home, continuously non-stop – #obsessedwithcandles.

untitled.png

Mulled Wine – I’m not usually a mulled wine drinker but this candle smells lovely. It has a rich aroma and I might even be tempted to get some Mulled Wine in this Christmas.

rtyu.png

Apple Cinnamon. – Smells like baked apple pie with a hint of cinnamon. This has a girly sweet aroma and I love it. Delish!

untitleddfghj.png

Gingerbread – Without a doubt my favourite candle out of the three that I bought. This candle smells like you have just walked into a bakery on Christmas Eve – absolutely gorgeous. It is so lovely and has a sweet aroma exactly like gingerbread biscuits. It has made me want to eat some gingerbread men. Yum!

sdfgh.png

If your liking these gorgeous Christmas fragranced candles, head down to your local Home Bargains store before they sell out. I almost had a punch up over the last Gingerbread candle, so be quick and be prepared to rumble and pounce if you have to ha. I’ll be getting a couple more in for myself and to give as little gifts to all the ladies in my life as I think they will like them just as much as I do.

Hopefully, next time I pop into HB they will still have some left. I think they are fabulous and I would be very happy if I was gifted one of these candles this Christmas.

Hint hint.
