Sunday Pamper Sesh: Argan Oil Mud Mask – 7th Heaven (Review)

Hi girls,

I think I have quite an addiction to face-masks you know. I have purchased so many and although most are still sitting there unopened I still get the urge to buy more. I use a few different brands but I have noticed that I always go back to 7th Heaven face masks, good job they are cheap as chips, hey! So, on my latest shopping spree I picked up a few sachets of 7th Heaven face-masks, ones which I had not yet tried and added them to my ever-growing, face-mask draw. My skin has been a bit on the oily side and I have broken out in a few pimples here and there, they actually hurt. (I’m blaming the cheap ass Halloween make-up I used last week.) Basically, my skin is oily and problematic at the moment so I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to try out the Argan Oil Mud mask from my all-time favourite cruelty free brand 7th Heaven (aka Montagne ) to help soothe and balance out my skin as I look like I have a volcano erupting on my chin right now and it hurts like a bitch!

The mud mask is recommended for oily – combination skin and it can be used as a weekly, 10-15 minute treat for your face. The mud contains Kaolin Clay as well as Bentonite Clay and also includes Moroccon Argan Oil, antioxdant-rich Acai Berries and an anti-wrinkle favourite of mine, Rosehip Oil.

There are lots of other skin loving ingredients in the mud too.

First Impressions

The mud is beige, peachy and pale skin coloured, quite similar in colour to the foundation I wear and it smells sweet and pleasant although I did think it smelled a little artificial. It has a smooth, creamy texture and glides over the skin effortlessly and it felt soothing on my skin once applied. In one 15g sachet there should be enough for two applications, depending how much of the mud you use. Just be sure to seal the sachet up so the mud doesn’t dry out. I fold mine over at the top and use a kirby grip to keep it sealed.

Results:

Five minutes after applying the mud, the beige coloured mud lightened to an off-white, chalky colour and I began to feel the mud drying in some areas with a tightening sensation. After around ten minutes the mud had completely dried white all over.

I left the mask on for around 15-20 minutes and found it washed off easily with warm water and a face cloth. My skin felt super soft and clean afterwards and it looked a lot brighter and less oily. I don’t usually get oily skin but after using cheap Halloween make-up last week my skin has been problematic and greasy and I as mentioned above I broke out in a couple of spots, so this mask has been perfect for balancing my oil levels. My spots don’t feel as irritated and as sore as they did either and my complexion looks better overall. I will definitely use this mask again and I think I will buy the bigger tube next time instead of the sachet.

Where to buy?

I got mine from Sainsbury’s for 79p a sachet although they are pretty much available anywhere. Home Bargains stocks them as does ASDA, Superdrug and you can get the full size 175g tube for ยฃ5.99 onย Amazon UK right here.

What Is Dead Sea Mud, Why Should You Use It & What Does It Do?

Dead Sea Mud starts out in the surrounding mountain areas as alluvial silt. Over time, this mud is washed down from the mountains by rain water until it reaches The Dead Sea, (a lake that sits between the West Bank, Israel and Jordan). Within the mud, scientists have found high concentrations of minerals like magnesium, bromides, phosphates and sodium.

Dead Sea mud is excellent for reducing inflammation, hydrating and improving psoriasis, acne and other skin disorders. Dead Sea mud helps give a healthier skin tone by removing dead skin cells that dull complexion. Once these dead skin cells are removed, new cells are able to regenerate for younger and healthier looking skin. Blood circulation in the face is increased and the skins complexion appears brighter. This causes toxins and acne-causing bacteria to be removed from the face. The mud mask increases the skins ability to absorb nutritious minerals and proteins.

Dead Sea Mud Mask is suitable for all skin types. It is a great face mask that helps to deeply cleanse and shrink large pores, which in turn eliminates blackheads and pimples. It also tightens and tones the skin as well as removing impurities. It is also beneficial to use Dead Sea mud as an anti-ageing treatment to reduce wrinkles and fine lines and it also significantly reduces redness and inflammation of the skin and can be used on both the face and body.

Apart from skin care, the Dead Sea mud is thought to help relax the muscles in the body. The mud increases tranquility and calmness. At the same time, arthritis patients use the mud to reduce aches & pains.

How To Use Dead Sea Mud Mask From Majestic Pure

Itโ€™s very easy to use, simply apply a thick layer of mud on to the face (and neck if you wish) and leave it to dry for 5 minutes. To remove the mask, gently rub your face in circular motions which helps exfoliate the skin and remove dead skin cells, then wash any remaining mud with warm water and pat dry with a towel. I use a good moisturiser afterwards to hydrate my skin even more.ย ย

Itโ€™s recommended to use this mask about twice a week, five minutes each time.

Thoughts

What I love about Majestic Pureโ€™s products is how natural and safe the ingredients are. (Full list of ingredients and their benefits are at the bottom of this post). A while ago I jumped on board the โ€˜naturalโ€™ bandwagon and turned my back on most products because they contain huge amounts of unnecessary chemicals, irritants, additives and artificial fragrances, which I believe do more harm than they do good. Iโ€™m convinced that using natural ingredients and chemical-free products is the best option for me, especially because of my psoriasis. One of the main reasons Iโ€™m on this natural route is to gently calm my skin disorder instead of irritating and aggravating it. I really do think natural is best โ€“ especially for problem skin!

I found this Dead Sea Mud Mask has a light pleasant aroma, I canโ€™t pin-point the exact scent but Iโ€™d guess it was Aloe Vera. The mud is a light grey when sitting in the tub but once it has dried on the face it is dark grey, almost black. It was very easy to apply, although it did get a bit messy so I advise protecting your hair and clothes if you donโ€™t want any product on them. I also recommend wearing plastic gloves when applying the mask, if you have any. Sh*t gets real messy!

Once the mask was on my face I waited around 10 minutes for it to dry (after the recommended time of 5 minutes, the mud was still wet.) I could feel a slight tightening on the skin although the sensation was not as โ€˜tightโ€™ feeling as hard drying clay masks. Removal of the mask was easy too. I particulary enjoyed the exfoliating part the most – rubbing my skin just before washing it off to gently exfoliate my dead skin cells which I think definitely helped my skin feel softer and look brighter too. I was impressed with how soft my skin felt afterwards and I could definitely see a difference and slight improvement. Iโ€™m looking forward to using this twice a week to improve my skin further and hopefully calm my psoriasis.

You should check out the other products available from Majestic Pure, which I highly recommend! Iโ€™ve recently reviewed some of their Indian Healing Clay Mask from Majestic Pure which is a huge tub of bentonite powder and when mixed with water it creates a detoxifying clay – you can read all about it here.

INGREDIENTS

APART FROM DEAD SEA MUD, THE OTHER INGREDIENTS IN THIS MUD MASK ARE:

Deionized Water – Deionized water is purified water which has mineral ions (salts) removed. The mineral ions that are removed include copper, iron, sodium, calcium, chloride, and bromide. Deionized water is made by taking conventional water and exposing it to electrically charged resins that attract and bind to the salts, removing them from the water. Because most of the impurities in water are mineral salts, deionized water is mostly pure.

Kaolin – Kaolin is a soft white mineral that has a large array of uses. It is most commonly found in the form of a fine clay that was originally produced in China, which is why this material is sometimes referred to as โ€˜China clayโ€™. Like other clays, it is very absorbent, and it can pull oils and dirt out of the skin.

Shea Butter – Shea butter is extracted from the nuts of the Shea tree, which grows in the savannah of Western Africa. Growing up to 60 feet tall, the Shea tree does not flower before it is 20 years old and can live up to 200 years. The Shea nuts are harvested, crushed and boiled to extract the Shea butter. Given its high content in anti-inflammatory and healing components, Shea butter helps the healing of skin disorders and skin problems such as:

  • eczema
  • psoriasis
  • rashes
  • hives
  • insect bites / stings
  • contact dermatitis
  • dry skin
  • cracked skin
  • burns
  • minor cutsย

Aloe Vera Juice – Aloe Vera grows wild in tropical climates around the world and is cultivated for agricultural and medicinal uses. Aloe Vera is considered by many to be a miracle plant, it has a huge range of skin, health and hair benefits. Aloe Vera helps soothe sunburn because the natural nutrients and antioxidants in the plant work to soothe the pain and help to regenerate the skin. Itโ€™s great for acne too. Auxin and Gibberellins, two hormones found in Aloe Vera, have wound healing and anti-inflammatory properties that help to reduce skin inflammation, promote the growth of new cells and al treat small minor cuts. Aloe Vera gel can help smooth out some those fine lines and wrinkles by improving the skins natural firmness. The gel of Aloe Vera plant can be also help treat scars as it promotes the healing process and softens the appearance of scar tissue

Sunflower Oil Sunflower oil is extracted from sunflower seeds. The oil is amazing for hydrating and moisturising the skin. Sunflower oil works well for improving psoriasis symptoms as well as soothing, sore, irritated skin..

Vegetable Glycerine Due to its hygroscopic properties, vegetable glycerine is used in many moisturising skin products because it seems to help relieve dry skin problems by drawing water up from the lower layers. It is also a component of glycerine soap, which is often used by people with sensitive skin. Vegetable glycerine is used as a substitute for ethanol in some products (the chemical known as alcohol) โ€” The advantage of this is that people who do not want to be exposed to alcohol can still have access to the botanical products. The disadvantage is that the products without alcohol have a much shorter shelf life.

Jojoba Oil – Jojoba is a golden liquid wax (often called jojobaย oil) that is made from the jojoba bean. ย It is a plant native to South-western North America, andย it was highly valued by the Native Americans as a potent balm for skin ailments.. Jojoba is a golden liquid wax similar to the protective wax produced by human skin to keep it smooth, supple and moisturised. Jojoba is the only plant in the world known to produce this unique golden liquid wax. All other plants in the world produce oils.ย Jojoba is naturally antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, analgesic, anti-inflammatory and hypoallergenic, so it is used to soothe a wide range of skin conditions.

Jojoba oil helps:

  • Scars
  • Burns
  • Rashes
  • Eczema
  • Dermatitis
  • Psoriasis
  • Nappy rash
  • Cradle cap
  • Acne
  • Wrinkles
  • Stretch marks
  • Dry and sensitive skin
  • Sun damage
  • Pigmentation
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Oily skin
  • Age spots
  • Nourish hairย

Xanthan Gum – Xanthan gum is a sugar-like compound made by mixing aged (fermented) sugars with a certain kind of bacteria. It is used to make medicine. In manufacturing, xanthan gum is used as a thickening and stabilizing agent.

Calendula Oil – Calendula oil is distilled from the flower tops. The oil is anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial so it is helpful for wounds, acne, ulcers, bed sores, varicose veins, rashes, psoriasis, eczema and other skin conditions.

Have any of you used any Dead Sea mud products before to improve any skin problems? Did they improve your skin?

LOTS OF LOVE
