Review: Burt’s Bees – Baby Bee Buttermilk Soap

I bought the Baby Bee Buttermilk Soap which is made by Burt’s Bees last week in one of my Amazon hauls and I am seriously loving it so far. I have really sensitive skin and psoriasis, so I have learned that washing my skin with a natural and gentle soap is a must. I love Burt’s Bees because most of their products are 99% natural, over half of them are 100% natural and they are all cruelty free.

Baby Bee Buttermilk Soap

The Baby Bee Buttermilk Soap is part of the baby-care range at Burt’s Bees. It is a gentle, 100% natural soap which is mild enough to be used on babies delicate skin. The soap is made the USA and it contains buttermilk which is richer in fats and emollients than whole milk and it is a natural, soothing skin cleanser and skin softener.  The soap doesn’t contain parabens, phthalates, petroleum or SLS ingredients and it is also cruelty-free.

The Buttermilk Soap comes in a small little box and the packaging of the soap is just lovely – the box is a gorgeous, honey-yellow colour which features a honeycomb print with cute little bumble bees and a there is a beehive sketch in the centre. There is a little bit of info about the soap on the back and sides of the box.

Thoughts:

I really love this soap and wish I had bought it sooner. I’ve fallen in love with the scent of it, which smells absolutely creamy, natural and gorgeous. The soap does contain parfum/fragrance but it is a natural one and not artificial so it won’t irritate sensitive skin. I love that this soap contains no nasty ingredients at all and it is a 100% natural soap. Considering it is a natural skincare product is really does lather well and feels creamy and soothing on the skin. As you may know, I have psoriasis and sensitive skin so my skin is easily irritated and it is often sensitive and dry but this soap is so gentle on my skin whilst cleansing it and moisturising it at the same time.

I have also been using other natural skincare products in conjunction with this soap and my psoriasis – which flared up badly recently has began to clear up so I’m over the moon, as you can imagine. I really do think that by using natural skincare products works absolute wonders for you when you have sensitive skin or a skin disorder and it is wise to avoid products which contain harsh ingredients which will make you symptoms worse. Always check the ingredients list and research each one if your unsure.

One thing I was baffled about was on the box it says the soap is a 100% natural product but on the website it says it is a 99.4% natural product!

Make your mind up Burt’s Bees. Ha.

I will definitely be purchasing this soap again, gain and again and think I’ll probably use it for the rest of my life because I like it so much. So, as you probably guessed, I 100000% recommend the Baby Bee Buttermilk Soap to everyone and anyone & especially for those with sensitive skin, psoriasis and eczema.

Where To Buy?

I got my Baby Bee Buttermilk Soap HERE on Amazon UK for £3.32.

You can also get it on the website: www.burtsbees.com

Review: Pure Potions | Skin Salvation – Omega Rich Cleansing Oil

22046537_1780392432253438_3361349410382190467_n

I was kindly sent a few skin care goodies from the fabulous Pure Potions who are an award-winning, natural skin care brand based in the UK. The products I was sent were the Scalp Oil, the Bath & Body Bath Emollient and lastly, the Omega Rich Cleansing Oil which is what I’ll be reviewing today.

21766487_1780390095587005_2010507784612736600_n

What Pure Potions say about the Omega Rich Cleansing Oil:

Introducing the new Skin Salvation Omega-Rich Cleansing Oil is a 100% natural facial cleanser made with a luxurious combination of rich, effective, botanical oils for daily use to condition, cleanse and moisturise.

It has been formulated as an alternative to soap-based cleansers or make-up removers to cleanse dirt and excess oil from the face without stripping skin of moisture or damaging the epidermis.

When massaged into the skin the rosehip, calendula, sunflower and safflower oils bind to surface impurities, pulling out dirt without clogging pores, and allow them to be gently wiped away leaving the skin clean, soft and hydrated. It can be used as part of a daily skincare regime to remove mascara, foundation and other make-up as well as the grime and pollutants of everyday life.

This super-rich oil also nourishes and protects skin that might need extra care, particularly ageing, fragile or damaged facial skin, because, unlike most brands of cleansing oils, Pure Potions’ Skin Salvation Omega-Rich Cleansing Oil is a blend of carefully-selected natural oils and contains absolutely no perfume, preservatives or other added ingredients. We don’t use even essential oils in this blend because sensitive skin on the face can react to these natural additives; it is just a pure and simple blend of plant- and seed-based oils.

Ingredients: Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil*
Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil*
Rosa Canina (Rosehip) Fruit Oil
Calendula Officianalis (Calendula) Flower Oil*
*organic ingredients

My Thoughts:

I am absolutely over the moon that I have come across this brand as their gentle products have helped my skin tremendously in such a short period of time. I have been using the Omega Rich Cleansing Oil twice a day, when I wake up – before I apply my make-up and to take it all off before I go to bed. It takes make-up off so well leaving my skin deeply cleansed and even removes waterproof mascara and I love that it doesn’t clog pores on the skin too which will keep pimples, blackheads and whiteheads from appearing. After cleansing my face with the oil I am left with a little dewy shine which makes my skin look radiant and glowing. Luckily, I don’t really get psoriasis on my face apart from underneath my eyebrows but since using this oil is has kept them at bay. It has done my skin the world of good and it looks so much healthier already. My complexion is a lot brighter which I’m so happy about as usually it looks very dull and greyish.

There is quite a lot of product in the bottle and you only need to use the smallest amount as a little bit goes far, so it is long-lasting. I have been using this for about a week now and you would think I haven’t even used any at all as the bottle is still full to the brim

What I also love about the cleansing oil is that it is a 100% natural cleansing oil that contains no parabens, no perfumes, no palm oil, no SLS, no phthalates, no silicones, no PEG’s, no mineral oil and no synthetics. It is probably the safest cleanser you can use on sensitive skin and removes make-up, impurities and dirt without irritating the skin or worsening symptoms.

21762124_1780390208920327_8693363478964169220_n

I apply it all over my face, (sometimes I leave it on for a few minutes to let it deeply moisturise my skin) then wipe it off with a damp wash-cloth. I am not usually a fan of cleansing oils as I like my creams and facial washes but this is an oil I will be using again and again and I will be re-purchasing.

22007781_1780390168920331_2536712393824931532_n

The only thing I dislike about the Omega Rich Cleansing Oil is that after applying to the face it requires you to wash your hands with soap afterwards to remove the oil from your hands, not a biggie really. Plus, I think it is a little expensive at £22 a bottle but as I said before, one bottle will last a long time and the cleansing oil really does soothe, hydrate and cleanse problem skin, thanks to its natural ingredients.

So I suppose you get what you pay for, hey!

Recommended for:

Absolutely anyone can use this cleansing oil! Women, men, children, old and young. It is recommended for those who have sensitive skin and those with skin disorders but even if your skin is healthy you can use it. The omega rich cleansing oil is perfect for those with dry and allergy prone skin, so if you have psoriasis, eczema, dermatitis, acne or rosacea – I would 100% recommend giving this cleansing oil a try.

Blueberry Cranberry Oxygen Facial Scrub from Derma Nu – #Skincare Review

Girls,

I have got the Oxygen Facial Scrub from Derma NU here. Derma Nu are another American beauty brand who sell here in the UK and they have some amazing skincare products for both men and women. Check out their website here. I was gifted the scrub for review purposes about two weeks ago now and I have used it a couple of times already. So, lets get a move on with this review, hey!

What is it?

14102305_10210025620941417_360343277546793593_n14102542_10210025604781013_3547497983547205174_n

Derma Nu say the scrub is:

  • Loaded with blueberries, cranberries and vitamin C which infuses the skin with powerful anti-oxidants fighting the signs of aging.
  • It GENTLY exfoliates while oxygenating the skin with vitamins and minerals found in the detoxifying berries and herbs that make up this scrub.
  • Pomegranate, rhubarb and dandelion lend their youthening bioflavonoids to this blend, while jojoba beads, olive and hibiscus decongest the pores and exfoliate the skin for smoother, younger and glowing skin.
  • The scrub is formulated with 70% organic ingredients, this plant-based anti-aging Facial Scrub has the highest percentage of natural and active ingredients for maximum potency.
  • Paraben free and non-comdogenic.
  • Not tested on animals.

First Imressions

When I first seen the tub, I didnt think much of it to be honest. It is a small 50ml, semi-opaque plastic tub and it has a grey shimmery screw top lid. It looks inexpensive, quite plain and it’s really nothing special, appearance wise.

After screwing off the lid and seeing the ‘scrub’ for the first time, I thought ‘eugh!’ – It really doesn’t look appealing at all! – It is brownish in colour and has a grainy, jelly like texture! I put my nose to the inside of the tub to check it wasn’t something it shouldn’t be and I was delighted when I got a lovely whiff of berries and not something else, phew!

14067516_10210025612861215_3406450690689972982_n

It really does smell very nice and fruity and I think it is down to the cranberry essence. So, although it doesn’t look pretty – it smells quite good. Plus my lovely Mum has always taught me to never judge a book by it’s cover – so I went ahead and used it anyway, hoping it would work better than it looked!

14068215_10210025598020844_1492235420180503698_n

Good things…

  • it smells fruity
  • very gentle on sensitive skin
  • amazing ingredients, a few are organic
  • enriched with many organic ingredients and natural oils
  • rich in vitamin C, aloe vera and amino acids

Bad things…

  • it doesn’t look appealing
  • it looks like shit, lets be honest
  • at £14 it is a bit on the expensive side
  • on the Derma Nu website they say the scrub will look like this:

(completely different to the brown one that I received)

burbs-bees-cranberry-pomegranate-sugar-scrub-closeup

Thoughts…

Most facial scrubs I use are harsh on my sensitive skin and I often find my skin feeling delicate and a little sore but after using this on my face the exfoliatting were gentle abrasive on my skin. After washing it off my skin, I was left with a soft, smooth and moisturised face and after using a few times over a weeks course, my complexion brightened up and it helped to remove dead skin cell build-up on my face.

I’m quite pleased with the ingredients too, there are a-lot of organic ingredients in there and plenty of natural oils which are proven skin saviours. Organic Aloe Vera is quite high up in the list and it also contains Cranberry, Blueberry, Pomegranate, Rhubarb and Tangerine essential oils too so there is a lot of goodness in the facial scrub.

14117929_10210025610901166_2474401581479518547_n

Most exfolliating scrubs contain harmful plastic microbeads but Derma Nu have used olive seeds, jojoba beads and hibiscus buds as the abrasives instead so skin is being is exfoliated gently and safetly with natural ingredients which is great!

This Oxygen Facial Scrub is definately something I’ll be using in the future. I wouldn’t say I would use it every day but I will use it once a week or whenever my skin needs a pick-me-up or it is looking dull and tired. It is only a small 50ml tub but a little bit of the really does go a long way so I would imagine it to last a while.

What I loved most: The lovely berry scent still lingered on my skin for hours afterwards, leaving it smelling of blueberry muffins! Yum!

You can buy the Blueberry Cranberry Oxygen Facial Scrub from Derma Nu here. It is £14.27 for a 50ml tub.
If you are from the USA you can get it here for $15.95.

Review: The Best ‘Glycolic Cleanser’ EVER EVER from InstaNatural

Ladies, Gents….

I think I have found the best facial cleanser EVER!

It is a Glycolic Cleanser from an American skincare brand, InstaNatural, who have a huge collection of natural skincare & hair products that have all been made cruelty-free. I’ve been using the cleanser for just over a month now and I really, really, really like it a-lot! I have been using it twice daily; in the morning and again in the evening and because I like it so much – I have added it to My Favourite Products.

untitled

What InstaNatural Say:

‘Our deep cleansing Glycolic Cleanser uses the exfoliating benefits of Glycolic Acid to break down dulling build up, helping to soften and brighten the skin. Infused with natural calming extracts and collagen supporting Arginine, this cleanser helps reduce the appearance of pores, signs of aging, and discoloration.’

Glycolic Acid removes pore clogging skin cells that can cause skin to breakout

Arginine supports the production of collagen, which helps the skin appear firmer and lessens the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles

Exfoliating ingredients increase cell turnover, helping to slough away dulling skin cells and reduce the appearance of fine lines and discoloration

Soothing extracts provide antioxidant support to guard skin against irritation and daily aggressors

Gentle cleansers remove excess oil and debris without stripping or drying the skin

First Impressions:

The cleanser came in a outer box which was attractive looking and pretty enough to be given as a gift to someone. The cleanser itself was in a recycable plastic bottle with a silver, dispensable lid. There is a generous 200ml of product in the bottle and because you only need to use a small amount each time, one bottle will last quite a while. My bottle is still half full even after a month of using it twice daily. The cleanser has a semi-gel like, runny consitency and it is clear, transparent and free from artificial dyes.

Full Ingredients:
Water (Aqua), Decyl Glucoside*, Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine*, Lauryl Glucoside*, Sclerotium Gum*, Glycolic Acid, Sodium Hydroxypropylsulfonate Lauryl-Glucoside Crosspolymer*, Glycerin*, Coco-Glucoside*, Propanediol*, Xanthan Gum*, Phenylpropanol*, Glyceryl Oleate*, Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate*, Hydrolyzed Jojoba Esters*, Arginine (L-Arginine)*, Potassium Sorbate*, Caprylyl Glycol, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower/Leaf (Chamomile) Extract, Saccharum Officinarum (Sugar Cane) Extract, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Peel Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf (Green Tea) Extract, Camellia Oleifera Leaf Extract, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Lactic Acid*.
*Naturally Derived

What is Glycolic Acid?

Glycolic Acid is an Alpha Hydroxy Acid which has been naturally derived from sugar cane. It works by removing dead skin cells, thus bringing fresh, new skin to the surface. Because the cleanser contains AHA’s, it will increase skin sensitivity to sunlight so it is recommended to use a suncreen and limit sun exposure whilst using it. The percentage of Glycolic Acid within the cleanser is unknown and InstaNatural say they can’t disclose this information as it is proprietary and what makes their formula unique. Come on InstaNatural, spill the beans.

Directions: Apply a small amount to dampened skin, massaging gently to create a lather. Concentrate on troubled areas, such as the t-zone. Rinse with water. Follow with appropriate serum and moisturizer. For best results, remove makeup before use.’

What I thought about it?

I love it! It has seriously improved the apperance of my skin.I have noticed a huge difference in my complexion which was dull and appeared dry and de-hydrated before I started using it. The very first time I used it, my complexion was brighter, appeared radiant and my skin looked plumper and super clean. It did leave a little shine on my face but my skin didn’t appear oily or greasy, instead it looked raidiant and kind of glowing, I liked it. Since I began using it I haven’t had any pimples or spots show up on my face either and no blackheads have shown up either, overall my skin looks healthier. I love how my skin looks and feels after using it. I have to mention it seems to have knocked a few years of my age too and I think my skin looks more youthful, ha! Glycolic Acid has actually been recommended as an anti-ageing treatment and I can definately see why!

What I didn’t like?

The only thing I didn’t like about the cleanser was the smell. I’m not a big fan of it! It is quite a mild scent which does smell natural, herby and plant based but it’s not my cup of tea, whatever it is! I wouldn’t say it was repulsive, it is just that my nose doesn’t find it pleasant and the two don’t get along. Saying that, I have seen other reviews of this Glycolic Cleanser and there are many people who actually like how it smells so maybe it’s just me. So… yeah, the scent doesn’t appeal to me but it definetly won’t and hasn’t put me off using it.

It is quite expensive too I think. It was priced at £49 a few weeks ago but it’s around £20 now as they have put it on sale, I’m not sure how long the sale is on for either but it better be for good as there is no way I’m paying £49 for a cleanser. I’d rather have crap skin to be honest. Ha!

Will I use or buy it again?

Big fat YES! I have already bought another bottle since! My skin is looking amazing so I’m happy!

You can get it on Amazon. UK: here. It is £19.97. | American girls can get it here.

Has anyone used Glycolic products before? What is the most you have ever spent on skin care?
