Psoriasis Update – April 2018

Hey girls (and boys),

My psoriasis has been really bad lately – it hasn’t been this severe for years, it’s so bad that I am considering making an appointment with my dermatologist. I haven’t used any medication from my GP/DERM for my skin in absolute years and instead I’ve been treating it with natural beauty products – so I think I will be disappointed to use chemicals on my skin again for a quick fix. I’m undecided what to do.

6tag_110418-140847WP_20180408_01_00_00_Pro

I have an idea why my skin has gotten bad again and to be honest I’m blaming quite a few things. I was sent a product to review from a brand (which I’ll name and review another time) and noticed after I used it that it contained not just one paraben but a whole lot of them. I always try to avoid parabens and I’m disappointed that this product contains parabens as it is aimed for those with skin disorders. I’m also blaming the peroxide I used to make my hair blonde. I’ve dyed my hair back to my natural colour as it would only get worse the more bleach I used. I have a ring of psoriasis along my hairline, I have it down my ears, all over my face, my eyebrows (which I waxed – another trigger maybe?) and my hands and wrists are terrible – I’ve noticed the stares alreadfy – the ones that hace CONTAGIOUS written all over them… it has made my self esteem drop massively. Maybe it’s because I don’t wear rubber gloves when washing the dishes (washing up liquid is harsh on skin and contains lots of nasty ingredients).  I’ve also changed my lifestyle a little too, for the better but maybe that has had an impact on my skin too. I’ve quit smoking for just over three months – I’ve become vegetarian again and cut out meat for nearly two months. Maybe I’m just having a flare up regardless of all the things I mentioned above. Does psoriasis need an excuse to flare up? No. So, yeah… I can’t pinpoint what has caused my skin to flare up but I do have an idea.

I just wanted to give you all an update on my skin as the photograph I posted on Instagram has made my emails and DMs go through the roof. I’m so grateful for the support I have received and the recommendations. I’m currently using a couple of products from Mayka Skincare, Moogoo Skincare and Dr. Botanicals – and Pure Potions have been kind enough to send me a few samples so I’m looking forward to receiving them. I’ll give it a week or two and make my decision as to whether to receive treatment.

I will keep you all updated.

Thanks again.

Love

Review: Dr. Botanicals – Moroccan Rose Superfood Facial Oil | Vegan Friendly & Cruelty-Free Skincare

Dr. Botanicals, a vegan friendly skincare brand, sent me some of their Moroccon Rose Superfood Facial Oil to try out and review on my blog. The oil is completely natural, vegan friendly and cruelty-free and it is infused with plant extracts, antioxidants, vitamins, essential oils and botanical extracts to help brighten dull skin, protect it, renew and even out skin tone. It also contains high levels of Vitamins A and C which rejuvenate the skin and helps to reduce visible signs of ageing.

DR BOTANICALS - MOROCCAN ROSE SUPERFOOD FACIAL OIL REVIEW

The main active ingredients in the formulation are:

Vitamin Chelps to stimulate collagen production, for younger-looking skin.
Vitamin A – a powerful antioxidant with aims to rejuvenate skin, even skin tone and reduce the signs of ageing; while protecting from free radicals.
Almond Oil – deeply moisturises and nourishes skin, whilst brightening the complexion for brighter fresh looking skin.

First Impressions:

The Moroccan Facial Oil comes in a eco-friendly, recyclable cardboard box – the packaging is nothing special but it is good for our environment. It lists the full ingredients in super tiny writing on the bottom of the box – which I can’t read even with my glasses on. It has the cruelty-free bunny printed on the box too. Inside is the Facial Oil which comes in a 15ml glass bottle with a simple label and a black screw-off dropper lid. The oil itself is clear and transparent with a slight rose-pink tint to it. Very pretty! It has a watery consistency and smells really nice too, kinda like a mild, subtle perfume, although it is not overpowering at all.  The oil has been recommended for dry skin especially but all skin types can use it even oily.

Thoughts:

I’ve been using it for a whole week so far and I’ve stopped using other products, just so I can see how it works my skin. My skin has been looking awful lately and I put it down to being lazy. I have been using throw away face wipes the last month or so instead of cleansing properly and although they come in handy every now and again, I don’t recommend using them as an everyday thing as I have found I break out and my skin gets really dry an dull-looking when I do.

This week I’ve ditched the wipes and I’ve been washing my face twice a day with the Wipe Out MicroFibre Cleansing Cloth from Magnitone London, which just requires water, no cleansers, gels, etc… and I’ve then been applying the oil every morning and every night. I use about 3-4 drops for my entire face and neck and in one week I’ve used just under 1/4 of the bottle, so I’m guessing the 15ml bottle will last me roughly over a month, maybe longer.

The Moroccan Facial Oil doesn’t behave like your average oil and it is kind of a dry oil although Dr.Botanicals haven’t said this. It doesn’t feel oily/greasy on the skin and it doesn’t leave a sticky residue either. It is super absorbent and I love how it dries into the skin within seconds, so no need to wait around for it to dry – one of my pet hates with facial oils.

Since using the facial oil, my dry patches and blemishes are starting to disappear and my skin doesn’t feel as tight, dry or look as dull as before – it has definitely brightened my complexion. I think with longer use my skin tone will look more even so I’m looking forward to that as uneven skin tone is something I’ve struggled with since day one. Ditching the face wipes, cleansing with a microfiber cloth and using this pure goodness oil on my skin has definitely improved its appearance and done it the world of good. I’ll update this post in a few weeks when I have give it more use.

I love Dr. Botanicals and I have their Tropical Invigorating Cream also which I love. The brand has definitely become a favourite of mine – I have been trying to use more cruelty-free brands the last few years and I prefer natural, gentle skincare products which are free-from nasty chemicals and that is what Dr. Botanicals is all about. They use top quality, natural ingredients in all of their products which are gentle on skin yet effective and they are completely cruelty-free, vegan friendly and free from animal by-products – animals should not have to suffer for our vanity and I think one day, hopefully, testing cosmetics on animals will be illegal and rightly so!

Dr Botanicals products are a bit on the expensive side but like I’ve said before, you definitely get what you pay for when it comes to skincare. Most of their products are a little out of my budget but I will definitely shop their products again – I’ll treat myself, hey and I’ll keep checking the website for sales and deals to grab myself a bargain!

Disclosure: This product was gifted to me for review purposes.

Soniworks: Comedone Extractor Tools – Blackhead, Whitehead & Pimple Removing Kit

Hey Chicks,
I was kindly sent this Blackhead and Pimple Remover Kit from Soniworks (which was £12.99) to test and try out on my stubborn little blackheads and problem zits. The kit looks so much more expensive than it is. Soniworks say the kit has been recommended by dermatologists which is always good and the extractor tools are made from 100% dermatologist grade stainless steel. There are 5 tools which come inside the stainless steel case and also included are some instructions on how to use, details about each tool and what type of skin complaint they should be used for which is handy. Comedone extractor tools are excellent for acne treatment, blackhead extraction, zit removing, facial blemishes, whitehead popping and pimple popping.

71v05x+ZVtL._SL1600_
71SfsNbLcGL._SL1600_

First of all let me start off by saying extractors are not just for acne. I luckily don’t have acne but I do have lots of tiny blackheads under my skin, particularly on my nose, cheeks and chin and they are so hard to get rid off. I also get a few spots now and again too especially on my chin. I’ve used comedone extractors in the past, I went through a phase of detesting every little blemish, pimple, whitehead and blackhead on my face – especially on the nose area, which has lots of tiny blackheads under the skin. In the past I never really got the hang of using the extractors and soon give up but this time round I’ve had a little browse on YouTube at video’s that explain how they should be used, so I know a little bit more about them than I previously did. If you are interested in learning how they work and how to use them just type ”comedone extraction” into YouTube to see how it’s done. I must warn you all though – if you have a weak stomach, don’t watch the video’s as some of them are really gross! Ha-ha.

Before using I recommend steaming your face for five minutes or so, use a facial steamer if you have one or if not pour boiling hot kettle water into a bowl and place your head over it so the steam hits your face, then cover your head over the bowl with a towel to stop steam escaping. Be careful not to get your face too close to the hot water. Steaming your face will open your pores so after steaming extraction of blackheads, whiteheads etc is easier. I highly recommend that you read the instruction leaflet so you know which tool to use for each problem, as there are different tools for different jobs, although you can use whatever tool you feel comfortable with.

71Qfas8ERfL._SL1600_

I advise that you don’t overuse these on your face don’t spend a lot of time on one area because your skin will feel really sore. You may notice some red blemishes after using the tools but this is nothing to worry about, the redness will fade pretty quickly. Also, in my experience they do hurt a bit when using, but only if you press down too hard, it may feel uncomfortable. Always make sure you clean the tools before each use too, medical alcohol pads, rubbing alcohol or simply a little bit of disinfectant will prevent any bacteria and skin infections from happening.

It is a brilliant little kit and handy to have, you never know when a blackhead or a pimple is going to erupt on your face! – You can expect great results with the kit, especially if you know how to use it properly. I’m finally getting the hang the tools and my skin is looking so much clearer already. I have been using it once a week and with each use my skin looks healthier and my complexion is much smoother. Yippee!

You can buy a kit here for £12.99 on Amazon UK.

Fragrance Free & Hypoallergenic | Body Deodorant Roll On from Crystal – Review

Hey, hey..

So, another deodorant review today as I’m still on the hunt for one that doesn’t kick off my parfum allergies as well as finding one that is long lasting, gentle on my sensitive skin and keeps my sweaty pits stink-free.

What I’ve been using?

Two weeks ago I started using the hypoallergenic and fragrance free Body Deodorant Roll On from Crystal and I have mixed feelings about it to be honest, I came across the deodorant on Amazon UK and I was expecting nothing but good results from it. I had the impression that it was the perfect deodorant for those with sensitive skin, skin disorders and fragrance allergies.

uhujik

What Crystal say:

Crystal is the world’s leading natural mineral salt deodorant for a reason. It works to prevent odour while other products attempt to mask it or plug pores with aluminum chlorohydrate or aluminum zirconium. Crystal is safe, healthy and totally effective. That’s why millions around the world use it every day. What makes our award-winning products so special? Unlike most products, Crystal prevents odour before it starts by creating a layer of odour-killing barrier that lasts all day. Our best-selling product, this Crystal-infused unscented Body Deodorant Roll-On goes on lightly, unlike most roll-ons sold today. It’s smooth rolling ball feels great going on, while the power of 100% natural mineral salts naturally eliminate odours all day long’.

hbhb.png

Ingredients:

Aqua, Potassium Alum, Cellulose, Sodium Bicarbonate, Benzoic Acid, Zinc Gluconate.

What I liked?

I liked how it was fragrance free so it didn’t cause me any migraines like most other deodorants do. It really doesn’t smell of anything at all and unlike other deodorants, it contains a very small list of ingredients. It didn’t sting or irritate my sensitive skin and it didn’t leave a sticky, wet residue after applying it. The packaging is attractive and I love the purple colour of the lid and the fact it is a unisex deodorant.

What I didn’t like?

Sadly, this deodorant didn’t keep my pits dry and I had sweat patches within half an hour of applying, which was pretty embarrassing. I do sweat easily but I even found I had sweat patches when just sitting down watching TV.

Also, it didn’t keep the B.O at bay! Within an hour of applying the roll on to my armpits, shortly after the sweat patches appeared came the pong. I shower twice daily, morning and evening but whilst I was trialling this I lost count of how many showers I took and I certainly wouldn’t feel comfortable enough to go about my day or exercising whilst wearing this as I really don’t trust that it will keep me smelling fresh. You girls ever took a shower and forgotten to apply deodorant. Well, basically I felt like I had no deodorant on at all.

I definitely won’t be buying it again and the two I bought will not be getting used anytime soon but I do really like the idea of fragrance free deodorants so I will definitely try some of the other deodorants by Chrystal, they have quite a few different ones so maybe next time I’ll get a spray instead and read a couple of reviews before I purchase another.

Where to buy?

If you still want Crystal’s fragrance free body deodorant in your life regardless of my review you can get it here from Amazon UK. It’s £7.19 for two 50ml bottles.

I bought mine for £2.99 each on Amazon Pantry right here which is a pantry and grocery store which is available to Prime members only.

If you gorgeous girls have any recommendations of some fragrance free deodorants that actually work, I would love to hear about them!

Love Katie x

Review: The Best ‘Glycolic Cleanser’ EVER EVER from InstaNatural

Ladies, Gents….

I think I have found the best facial cleanser EVER!

It is a Glycolic Cleanser from an American skincare brand, InstaNatural, who have a huge collection of natural skincare & hair products that have all been made cruelty-free. I’ve been using the cleanser for just over a month now and I really, really, really like it a-lot! I have been using it twice daily; in the morning and again in the evening and because I like it so much – I have added it to My Favourite Products.

untitled

What InstaNatural Say:

‘Our deep cleansing Glycolic Cleanser uses the exfoliating benefits of Glycolic Acid to break down dulling build up, helping to soften and brighten the skin. Infused with natural calming extracts and collagen supporting Arginine, this cleanser helps reduce the appearance of pores, signs of aging, and discoloration.’

Glycolic Acid removes pore clogging skin cells that can cause skin to breakout

Arginine supports the production of collagen, which helps the skin appear firmer and lessens the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles

Exfoliating ingredients increase cell turnover, helping to slough away dulling skin cells and reduce the appearance of fine lines and discoloration

Soothing extracts provide antioxidant support to guard skin against irritation and daily aggressors

Gentle cleansers remove excess oil and debris without stripping or drying the skin

First Impressions:

The cleanser came in a outer box which was attractive looking and pretty enough to be given as a gift to someone. The cleanser itself was in a recycable plastic bottle with a silver, dispensable lid. There is a generous 200ml of product in the bottle and because you only need to use a small amount each time, one bottle will last quite a while. My bottle is still half full even after a month of using it twice daily. The cleanser has a semi-gel like, runny consitency and it is clear, transparent and free from artificial dyes.

Full Ingredients:
Water (Aqua), Decyl Glucoside*, Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine*, Lauryl Glucoside*, Sclerotium Gum*, Glycolic Acid, Sodium Hydroxypropylsulfonate Lauryl-Glucoside Crosspolymer*, Glycerin*, Coco-Glucoside*, Propanediol*, Xanthan Gum*, Phenylpropanol*, Glyceryl Oleate*, Tetrasodium Glutamate Diacetate*, Hydrolyzed Jojoba Esters*, Arginine (L-Arginine)*, Potassium Sorbate*, Caprylyl Glycol, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower/Leaf (Chamomile) Extract, Saccharum Officinarum (Sugar Cane) Extract, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Peel Extract, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Fruit Extract, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Camellia Sinensis Leaf (Green Tea) Extract, Camellia Oleifera Leaf Extract, Salix Alba (Willow) Bark Extract, Lactic Acid*.
*Naturally Derived

What is Glycolic Acid?

Glycolic Acid is an Alpha Hydroxy Acid which has been naturally derived from sugar cane. It works by removing dead skin cells, thus bringing fresh, new skin to the surface. Because the cleanser contains AHA’s, it will increase skin sensitivity to sunlight so it is recommended to use a suncreen and limit sun exposure whilst using it. The percentage of Glycolic Acid within the cleanser is unknown and InstaNatural say they can’t disclose this information as it is proprietary and what makes their formula unique. Come on InstaNatural, spill the beans.

Directions: Apply a small amount to dampened skin, massaging gently to create a lather. Concentrate on troubled areas, such as the t-zone. Rinse with water. Follow with appropriate serum and moisturizer. For best results, remove makeup before use.’

What I thought about it?

I love it! It has seriously improved the apperance of my skin.I have noticed a huge difference in my complexion which was dull and appeared dry and de-hydrated before I started using it. The very first time I used it, my complexion was brighter, appeared radiant and my skin looked plumper and super clean. It did leave a little shine on my face but my skin didn’t appear oily or greasy, instead it looked raidiant and kind of glowing, I liked it. Since I began using it I haven’t had any pimples or spots show up on my face either and no blackheads have shown up either, overall my skin looks healthier. I love how my skin looks and feels after using it. I have to mention it seems to have knocked a few years of my age too and I think my skin looks more youthful, ha! Glycolic Acid has actually been recommended as an anti-ageing treatment and I can definately see why!

What I didn’t like?

The only thing I didn’t like about the cleanser was the smell. I’m not a big fan of it! It is quite a mild scent which does smell natural, herby and plant based but it’s not my cup of tea, whatever it is! I wouldn’t say it was repulsive, it is just that my nose doesn’t find it pleasant and the two don’t get along. Saying that, I have seen other reviews of this Glycolic Cleanser and there are many people who actually like how it smells so maybe it’s just me. So… yeah, the scent doesn’t appeal to me but it definetly won’t and hasn’t put me off using it.

It is quite expensive too I think. It was priced at £49 a few weeks ago but it’s around £20 now as they have put it on sale, I’m not sure how long the sale is on for either but it better be for good as there is no way I’m paying £49 for a cleanser. I’d rather have crap skin to be honest. Ha!

Will I use or buy it again?

Big fat YES! I have already bought another bottle since! My skin is looking amazing so I’m happy!

You can get it on Amazon. UK: here. It is £19.97. | American girls can get it here.

Has anyone used Glycolic products before? What is the most you have ever spent on skin care?

Love

Art Naturals – Dead Sea Mud Mask

Hello Girls (& Boys!)

I have another Art Naturals product here for review. It is their Dead Sea Mud Mask.

13934681_10209883337024408_374089087379998654_n

I have tried quite a few products from Art Naturals now and I can honestly say that I haven’t a bad thing to say about any products that I have used from them. Art Naturals has become one of my favourite brands lately and I have replaced most of my beauty products from ‘popular, big brands’, especially those who test on animals and use harsh ingredients, for ‘natural’ and kind brands like Art Naturals whose products are chemical free, cruelty free, contain nothing but natural, kind ingredients and are gentle on the skin, gentle enough to calm my psoriasis instead of irritating it!

I can definately see ‘natural’ and cruelty free brands becoming more popular in the near future as people realise nasty, harmful ingredients and testing on animals is really not nessecary in a beauty product, really though, why should an animal suffer just so we can look fabulous. I agree it is pretty hard knowing which products are kind, some poducts don’t tell you if it has been tested on animals or not so always look for the little cruelty free bunny on the back of a product to know 100% if the formula has NOT been tested on animals. A brand will never say ‘this has been tested on animals’ so look for the cute bunny for confimation!

Art Naturals Dead Sea Mud Mask

This is a 250 ml tub of deep skin cleansing, pure heavenly face mask! Dead Sea Mud is amazing for all skin types and everybody can benefit from it in some way. It draws out toxins, impurities, blackheads, dirt, oil, helps acne, calms skin conditions and disorders as well as reducing large pores and if used often it will help give you radiant skin and a brighter, clearer, more balanced complexion.

I’ll be honest, this mud mask from Art Naturals is completely identical to the Majestic Pure one I reviewed a while back, it has the exact same ingredients, same 250ml sized tub, the mud is the same dark grey colour, same thick consitency, same scent and it has the same price. The only differences being, the label and a different company name. Majestic Pure say to leave their mask on for five minutes while Art Naturals say leave on for 15-20 minutes. So basically I would imagine they both have the same formula, just sold by two different companies with different time directions.

I’ve had the same results with this Dead Sea Mud Mask as I did with Majestic Pure’s one. I do love them both! You can read my review for that here if you’d like.

How to use it?

‘Cleanse and tone first, and dry skin. Use clean dry hands when scooping the mud out of the jar to avoid contamination and bacteria. Test on a small area for allergies before using all over the face. Apply a thick layer of the mud onto your face and neck, avoiding the eye area. Let the mask sit for around 15-20 minutes until it has dried. Remove the mask by wetting hands and gently lathering in circular motions for a complete exfoliation. Wash any excess mud off with lukewarm water and gently pat dry. Follow with your favourite moisturiser. For best results use every 3-4 days.’

TIP: Apply a very thin layer as the more you put on the longer it will take to dry and remove.

13879271_10209883336944406_4622714331732521033_n13920869_10209883345824628_4987133253992925464_n

Results:

This is really messy to apply as you can imagine, it gets everywhere if you are not careful so if you are as dopey and careless as I am, use it while bathing or use an old t-shirt to avoid any staining. Be careful not to get it into your hair too if you don’t plan on washing it afterwards, tie it up into a bun and use a hair band to protect your hair line.

After using this 4 times in three weeks I can say that my complexion is definately brighter and my skin looks clearer and feels moisturised and smoother. I have had a little pimple break out on my chin but I have had no major reactions or break outs.

I will continue using this once a week to keep my skin balanced and to draw out all toxins and impurities that have built up which cleansing and toning alone can’t achieve. I still have those annoying, under the skin, tiny blackheads on my nose that even comedones and blackhead extractors can’t remove so using this regulary may help draw them out, a few at a time.  I am so determined to get rid of them.

I don’t recommend using dead sea mud daily as it is possible you will remove the ‘good’ oils that your skin produces to protect it from external factors, so once a week is perfect in my opinion.

I do recommend steaming your face before using any face mask to open the pores. Just make sure you splash some cold water over your face when you remove the mud mask to close the pores and avoid any new blackheads, pimples or spots appearring.

Where to buy it?

You can buy it right here. It is £14.95 for a 250ml tub. Which is a little expensive for a face mask, yeah, but it will last a while and you defo get what you pay for! Check out some other Art Naturals products too, I especially love their essential oils, hair masks and bath bombs.

Thanks for reading girlies! If you have tried a dead sea mud mask before or if you are thinking of buying this one for yourself I would love to hear your thoughts!

Have a beautiful day!

Dead Sea Mud Mask | Majestic Pure | Psoriasis, Eczema, Acne & Problem Skin Complaints

Hello ladies! 😊

I got myself some of this – Majestic Pure Dead Sea Mud Mask 260ml – Spa’s Premium Quality Facial Cleanser for All Skin Types – 100% Natural Formula, Absorbs Excess Oil, Removes Dead Skin Cells, Dirt and Toxins to Reveal Fresh and Soft Skin – Known to Heals Acne, Acne Scars, Pimp .. to trial for my skin which is very prone to breakouts, large pores and stubborn blackheads on my nose that won’t budge. I also have the odd bit of psoriasis on my face and I’ve heard Dead Sea mud does wonders for treating and improving psoriasis so I’ve been more than happy to try this mud mask out for my skin problems.

13413031_1579067845719232_8747453492650071800_n13407284_1579067842385899_7461496524170509259_n13406716_1579067679052582_3525330680286893669_n

What Is Dead Sea Mud, Why Should You Use It & What Does It Do?

Dead Sea Mud starts out in the surrounding mountain areas as alluvial silt. Over time, this mud is washed down from the mountains by rain water until it reaches The Dead Sea, (a lake that sits between the West Bank, Israel and Jordan). Within the mud, scientists have found high concentrations of minerals like magnesium, bromides, phosphates and sodium.

Dead Sea mud is excellent for reducing inflammation, hydrating and improving psoriasis, acne and other skin disorders. Dead Sea mud helps give a healthier skin tone by removing dead skin cells that dull complexion. Once these dead skin cells are removed, new cells are able to regenerate for younger and healthier looking skin. Blood circulation in the face is increased and the skins complexion appears brighter. This causes toxins and acne-causing bacteria to be removed from the face. The mud mask increases the skins ability to absorb nutritious minerals and proteins.

Dead Sea Mud Mask is suitable for all skin types. It is a great face mask that helps to deeply cleanse and shrink large pores, which in turn eliminates blackheads and pimples. It also tightens and tones the skin as well as removing impurities. It is also beneficial to use Dead Sea mud as an anti-ageing treatment to reduce wrinkles and fine lines and it also significantly reduces redness and inflammation of the skin and can be used on both the face and body.

Apart from skin care, the Dead Sea mud is thought to help relax the muscles in the body. The mud increases tranquility and calmness. At the same time, arthritis patients use the mud to reduce aches & pains.

How To Use Dead Sea Mud Mask From Majestic Pure

It’s very easy to use, simply apply a thick layer of mud on to the face (and neck if you wish) and leave it to dry for 5 minutes. To remove the mask, gently rub your face in circular motions which helps exfoliate the skin and remove dead skin cells, then wash any remaining mud with warm water and pat dry with a towel. I use a good moisturiser afterwards to hydrate my skin even more.

It’s recommended to use this mask about twice a week, five minutes each time.

Thoughts

What I love about Majestic Pure’s products is how natural and safe the ingredients are. (Full list of ingredients and their benefits are at the bottom of this post). A while ago I jumped on board the ‘natural’ bandwagon and turned my back on most products because they contain huge amounts of unnecessary chemicals, irritants, additives and artificial fragrances, which I believe do more harm than they do good. I’m convinced that using natural ingredients and chemical-free products is the best option for me, especially because of my psoriasis. One of the main reasons I’m on this natural route is to gently calm my skin disorder instead of irritating and aggravating it. I really do think natural is best – especially for problem skin!

I found this Dead Sea Mud Mask has a light pleasant aroma, I can’t pin-point the exact scent but I’d guess it was Aloe Vera. The mud is a light grey when sitting in the tub but once it has dried on the face it is dark grey, almost black. It was very easy to apply, although it did get a bit messy so I advise protecting your hair and clothes if you don’t want any product on them. I also recommend wearing plastic gloves when applying the mask, if you have any. Sh*t gets real messy!

Once the mask was on my face I waited around 10 minutes for it to dry (after the recommended time of 5 minutes, the mud was still wet.) I could feel a slight tightening on the skin although the sensation was not as ‘tight’ feeling as hard drying clay masks. Removal of the mask was easy too. I particulary enjoyed the exfoliating part the most – rubbing my skin just before washing it off to gently exfoliate my dead skin cells which I think definitely helped my skin feel softer and look brighter too. I was impressed with how soft my skin felt afterwards and I could definitely see a difference and slight improvement. I’m looking forward to using this twice a week to improve my skin further and hopefully calm my psoriasis.

I’ve recently reviewed some of their Indian Healing Clay Mask from Majestic Pure which is a huge tub of bentonite powder and when mixed with water it creates a detoxifying clay – you can read all about it here.

INGREDIENTS

APART FROM DEAD SEA MUD, THE OTHER INGREDIENTS IN THIS MUD MASK ARE:

Deionized Water – Deionized water is purified water which has mineral ions (salts) removed. The mineral ions that are removed include copper, iron, sodium, calcium, chloride, and bromide. Deionized water is made by taking conventional water and exposing it to electrically charged resins that attract and bind to the salts, removing them from the water. Because most of the impurities in water are mineral salts, deionized water is mostly pure.

Kaolin – Kaolin is a soft white mineral that has a large array of uses. It is most commonly found in the form of a fine clay that was originally produced in China, which is why this material is sometimes referred to as ‘China clay’. Like other clays, it is very absorbent, and it can pull oils and dirt out of the skin.

Shea Butter – Shea butter is extracted from the nuts of the Shea tree, which grows in the savannah of Western Africa. Growing up to 60 feet tall, the Shea tree does not flower before it is 20 years old and can live up to 200 years. The Shea nuts are harvested, crushed and boiled to extract the Shea butter. Given its high content in anti-inflammatory and healing components, Shea butter helps the healing of skin disorders and skin problems such as:

  • eczema
  • psoriasis
  • rashes
  • hives
  • insect bites / stings
  • contact dermatitis
  • dry skin
  • cracked skin
  • burns
  • minor cuts

Aloe Vera Juice – Aloe Vera grows wild in tropical climates around the world and is cultivated for agricultural and medicinal uses. Aloe Vera is considered by many to be a miracle plant, it has a huge range of skin, health and hair benefits. Aloe Vera helps soothe sunburn because the natural nutrients and antioxidants in the plant work to soothe the pain and help to regenerate the skin. It’s great for acne too. Auxin and Gibberellins, two hormones found in Aloe Vera, have wound healing and anti-inflammatory properties that help to reduce skin inflammation, promote the growth of new cells and al treat small minor cuts. Aloe Vera gel can help smooth out some those fine lines and wrinkles by improving the skins natural firmness. The gel of Aloe Vera plant can be also help treat scars as it promotes the healing process and softens the appearance of scar tissue

Sunflower Oil Sunflower oil is extracted from sunflower seeds. The oil is amazing for hydrating and moisturising the skin. Sunflower oil works well for improving psoriasis symptoms as well as soothing, sore, irritated skin..

Vegetable Glycerine Due to its hygroscopic properties, vegetable glycerine is used in many moisturising skin products because it seems to help relieve dry skin problems by drawing water up from the lower layers. It is also a component of glycerine soap, which is often used by people with sensitive skin. Vegetable glycerine is used as a substitute for ethanol in some products (the chemical known as alcohol) — The advantage of this is that people who do not want to be exposed to alcohol can still have access to the botanical products. The disadvantage is that the products without alcohol have a much shorter shelf life.

Jojoba Oil – Jojoba is a golden liquid wax (often called jojoba oil) that is made from the jojoba bean.  It is a plant native to South-western North America, and it was highly valued by the Native Americans as a potent balm for skin ailments.. Jojoba is a golden liquid wax similar to the protective wax produced by human skin to keep it smooth, supple and moisturised. Jojoba is the only plant in the world known to produce this unique golden liquid wax. All other plants in the world produce oils. Jojoba is naturally antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, analgesic, anti-inflammatory and hypoallergenic, so it is used to soothe a wide range of skin conditions.

Jojoba oil helps:

  • Scars
  • Burns
  • Rashes
  • Eczema
  • Dermatitis
  • Psoriasis
  • Nappy rash
  • Cradle cap
  • Acne
  • Wrinkles
  • Stretch marks
  • Dry and sensitive skin
  • Sun damage
  • Pigmentation
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Oily skin
  • Age spots
  • Nourish hair

Xanthan Gum – Xanthan gum is a sugar-like compound made by mixing aged (fermented) sugars with a certain kind of bacteria. It is used to make medicine. In manufacturing, xanthan gum is used as a thickening and stabilizing agent.

Calendula Oil – Calendula oil is distilled from the flower tops. The oil is anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial so it is helpful for wounds, acne, ulcers, bed sores, varicose veins, rashes, psoriasis, eczema and other skin conditions.

Have any of you used any Dead Sea mud products before to improve any skin problems? Did they improve your skin?

Indian Healing Clay (Powder) from Majestic Pure

HI GIRLS!

I was so excited when this therapeutic grade Indian Healing Clay arrived from Majestic Pure. I love my facemasks and use them quite regularly. I love them even more when they don’t contain any nasties or chemicals. I’ve used all kinds of clay facemasks in the past mainly 7th Heaven ones which come in a little pouch as well as sheet-masks from a Korean beauty store, but I have never tried any from Majestic Pure as I’ve only recently became a fan of their products. I’ve had lots of their essential oils though and I they were good quality & I really loved them, so I got myself this Indian Healing Clay which contains 100% Pure Sodium Bentonite and nothing else! I’ve also ordered a Dead Sea Mud Mask from Majestic Pure so I can’t wait until that arrives either!

13340113_10209408541554818_6141567183190138504_o

 What Is Clay?

Clay makes a fabulous face mask for shrinking pores, tightening and toning skin, removing impurities, getting rid of dead skin cells and just making your skin look and feel good! It’s good for soothing the skin and is especially good for treating cuts, bruises, insect bites, bee stings, boils, rashes achy joints, acne and burns amongst others!

For more info on Pure Sodium Bentonite, click here.

Before I get into my review, I have to give you a little tip/warning – If you buy this, before you open the tub, don’t lie down when your opening it for the first time! I lied on my bed lying down and began to open the tub to have a nose at the contents… What happened? All the powder went all over my new top! Ha-ha. I really thought this was a ready made face mask and it was solid clay and all yo do was dip your hands into the tub then apply it as it is, straight to your face – but it’s not… It’s clay POWDER which you add water to and then mix to a smooth paste! Blonde moment! So be careful when you open this so you don’t waste any product!

13392170_10209408531394564_1279123767487169732_o

I was very pleased at how big the tub is. It looks much bigger than the picture the company have displayed, which actually looks quite little compared to when the tub is in front of you. It does say that the tub is 16oz but I’m useless at oz, fl, mg, g measurements and the likes so I never had a clue about how much product I was buying. I did expect this to be a much smaller tub!

On the side of the tub are directions for use which is handy as I had never used clay powder before so I didn’t know how to mix it – definitely saved me a Google search trip. For the face all you do is mix 3 parts water with one part clay powder then mix it until you’ve got yourself a smooth paste! Put it on your face and leave on for 20 minutes. It does say if you have sensitive skin you should leave the clay on for 10 minutes only and reduce the time in half. To wash off – just use lukewarm water. Simple! This can also be used for clay baths and foot soaks tot, the clay draws toxins from the skin and pores so it’s great for your body as well as your face, but I’ve only tried it on my face at the moment.

13415437_10209408531474566_4860125150954623036_o

When mixing this I put 3 parts water and 1 part clay powder into a bowl and mixed but it didn’t seem I had done it properly so I added a bit more clay and water and mixed like mad, it was lumpy to begin with but after continuously mixing I was left with a smooth paste. I scooped it up with my fingers and slathered it all on my face (you might want to wear plastic gloves as it gets messy!) I left the clay mask on my face for about 20-25 minutes and felt it drying after 5 minutes. I love how clay masks feel on the skin when they dry. I then washed it off with warm water and dried with towel. My face did look a bit red once it was washed off but the redness faded, I think my skin is more sensitive than I thought and I probably should have left it on for 10 minutes instead. When the redness faded, my skin looked great and was lovely and soft to touch. I’m going to use this 1-2 a week, I’m hoping for a clearer complexion and I’ve tried everything to get rid of impurities and blackheads under my skin on my nose and nothing has worked so far. As this clay draws out impurities and toxins I think my skin will definitely improve the more I use it! Best thing is the powder will last a lifetime as only one scoop is needed each time!

13392242_10209408569875526_1648435479118701327_o

You can get some here from Magestic Pure on Amazon UK. It’s £8.49 to buy.

I’ve been a GLOSSY since January 2016 and I think it’s about time I filled you in on the little goodies I’ve been receiving each month! I chose a monthly subscription when I signed up three months ago and I’ve been receiving my boxes on the 10th of each month.

12986979_1557653284527355_4248625016638418059_n

Here’s what was in my April 2016 box.

12998551_1557653291194021_7284479074920310873_n

I received four full-sized products and one good-sized sample.

12439358_1557653731193977_161839964873105000_n

I’m really loving this little beautiful lip colour. It is a gorgeous hot pink ‘chubby’ lip crayon that is super creamy and rich and glides on effortlessly giving a glossy finish. The Lip Chubby is enriched with a blend of natural plant waxes and oils to moisturise the lips. This ‘Make Me Beautiful Lip Chubby’ is from NEXT and is £8 to buy, there are eight other shades to choose from too. The Lip Chubby’s from NEXT are very similar to Clinique’s Chubby Sticks which retail at around £17. This will definitely be a spring/summer favourite for me! I might even purchase some other shades. Click here to buy.

Leighton Denny Expert Nails Miracle Mist – (FULL SIZED PRODUCT)

12974448_1557653734527310_8124912149921086062_n

Leighton Denny’s Miracle Mist is a convenient aerosol spray bottle that quickly speeds up polish drying time. A spray that dries wet nail polish!? I’ll have me some of that. 👌 No more waiting for nails to dry or reapplying due to smudging! The ‘Miracle Mist’ conditions cuticles as well. 😍 It sounds too good to be true doesn’t it. I’ll admit I probably wouldn’t buy this in store but nonetheless, I can’t wait to try it out! 💅

The Miracle Mist retails at £11 for 75 ml bottle. You can get some here.

Temporary White Henna Tattoos From STYLondon – (FULL SIZED PRODUCT)

13012601_1557654494527234_3920396729351360827_n

The tattoo’s I received are called ‘Casablanca’. They are white temporary henna tattoo’s in different designs and have bits of gold speckles here and there. They are so pretty! 😍😍😍 ver…but I’ll never use them! These would look fabulous at music festivals so if you’re a festival goer… snap some up! The tattoo’s are easy to apply and can be easily removed with olive oil or baby oil. They are so gorge and quirky and they have a stunning design but sadly they are not my kind of thing!

They retail at £6 from STYLondon and there are lots of other temporary henna designs to choose from. Take a look!

Brow Lift Perfecting Liner From Studio 10 – (FULL SIZED PRODUCT)

12991029_1557654491193901_4666202614571783089_n

This is my favourite product from April’s Box! The Brow Lift Perfecting Liner from Studio 10 is a double-ended eyebrow pencil that works equally well on all hair shades and skin tones. The smudge-proof formula stays put – so there’s no need to worry about eyebrow pencil all over your forehead and eyelids as the day goes by. The actual colour of the brow liner is kinda taupe-greyish-brownishy and it is possible to build your desired shade intensity depending on your preference. The flesh-toned highlighter is great for brightening the brow bone and enhancing your brow shape. It is enriched with vitamin E too.

The Brow Lift Perfecting Liner from Studio 10 is £22 to buy. (What’s great is for every Brow Lift Perfecting Liner sold – Studio 10 will donate one to the cancer charity ‘Look Good Feel Better’ in a bid to help women feel confident about their appearance again.)

Kathryn Anne – Pure Aromatherapy | Luxurious & Nourishing Skincare

Essential Oil Products | Pure Aromatherapy

As stated in my previous posts, I’ve jumped on the natural products bandwagon and decided to look after my skin without the use of nasty chemicals.

You may know that I am a psoriasis sufferer, which is an autoimmune skin disorder, very similar to eczema in appearance. So it especially important that I use gentle products on my skin.

After browsing the internet for natural products to use for my skin as well as something safe and natural to help my insomnia. I came across Pure Aromatherapy which was founded by Holistic Therapist, Kathryn Anne. Her company, which is based in Kings Cliffe in Peterborough sell all things aromatherapy, from creams, reed diffusers to oils and gift sets.

I read the testimonials on the website and was pretty sure on trying Pure Aromatherapy products after reading the great reviews.

Great thing about Pure Aromatherapy is the communication and wonderful customer service skills from Kathryn Anne, I contacted her through the website and asked if she could recommend any products for people with psoriasis and anything I could use to help ease my insomnia… I had a reply almost instantly with wonderful tips and details of the products she thought would help. So if you’re not sure what products to purchase, just drop her an email or contact her on Facebook page and I’m certain she will do her best to help you.
Anyway, after deciding on the products I was going to try, a day or two later I received a parcel from the lovely Kathryn Anne. I was super impressed how fast delivery was.

In my parcel were four items, they were: Luxurious Face Cream, Nourishing Hand Cream, Luxurious Body Lotion and lastly, Lavender Essential Oil.

1508658_1507299269562757_2645353128972085759_n
I’ve been trying these products for over a month now, I would have posted my review sooner but I’ve had a run of bad luck these last few weeks. First my laptop broke then after waiting two weeks for it to be sent back to me, repaired, my broadband connection decides to have some technical difficulties in my street. Talk about coincidental.  So I’ve only just been able to write. Although, the little run of bad luck has annoyed me so much, it has certainly gave me enough time to try the creams out. I will definitely be buying more when I have ran out.

I can’t believe that after a month of using the creams there is still plenty left. I’m now considering trying the products I haven’t yet tried as I’m sure they will be just as good as those I have tried.

Luxurious Face Cream

12191502_1507299329562751_2290580880311998980_n

Enriched with Rose, Sandalwood and Lavender, this cream is my absolute favourite from Pure Aromatherapy. I have been using it 3 times a day because I love it so much. Morning, Evening and again at bedtime. I have even been using it together with my Braun Face Cleansing Brush which was included with an Epilator. The cream acts like a cleanser for the brush and leaves my skin super soft, hydrated and cleansed, pore deep.

I would 100,000,000% recommend the Luxurious Face Cream to anybody with dry, dull skin on their face and especially those who are in need of a major moisture boost. This cream has seriously put moisture back into my face and I was pretty much hooked after the first use. Within two minutes, if that, of trying the cream on my face, I could notice the change almost instantly. I had really dry, dull skin that lacked radiance and youthfulness beforehand and first time using this cream I was so impressed.

I love using this cream before I put my make-up on too as it gives me a smooth base to apply my foundation on. Before I used this cream, it was hard work spreading my foundation across my skin as it was so dry. My make-up was always left patchy which is not a pretty sight for a perfectionist like myself.

Other face creams I used in the past have all had great benefits but had their downfalls too such as, taking too long to dry, leaving my skin greasy or making my foundation behave like tinted moisturiser which having blemished skin is not the look I aim for. If I wanted tinted moisturiser, I would buy tinted moisturiser, ha ha.

I prefer the full coverage and the Luxurious Face Cream enables me to have just that. It dries very quickly, soaks into the skin and instead of having shiny, greasy skin which make-up easily slides off after applied, I’m left with matte skin that is deeply moisturised and makeup products stay put. My makeup also glides on smoothly and appears much more natural. The Luxurious Face Cream acts like a primer for my make-up.

Since using this face cream my complexion has definitely improved. This cream will be apart of my daily beauty regime from now on and I’m so happy I have discovered it. 😊

If you would like to try the Luxurious Face Cream out for yourself, click here to be redirected to the Pure Aromatherapy website to purchase the Luxurious Face Cream for £13.75

There is a competition running over on my Facebook page. One lucky lady will win herself The Luxurious Face Cream.

Nourishing Hand Cream

12191482_1507299386229412_505583818790319985_n

My mum and I were talking the other day and I mentioned how my hands appeared much older than hers, (She is 51 years old, I’m 28). It’s true… Even my boyfriend has better looking hands than I do and he works in woodwork construction as a Carpenter and Joiner. His hands are covered in scars and its obvious his occupation consists of manual handwork. But somehow, my hands looked like I had worked my hands solid since the day I was born.

My hands looked as if I was a grandmother, no lie.  My skin was so dry and wrinkly, my nails were so weak and brittle and the overall appearance of my hands were not as attractive as I’d hoped they would be. I don’t know if having psoriasis is the reason my hands looked so unhappy or if it’s just one of those things. Until now, I had never in my life cared for my hands which, lets face it, this is probably the main reason my hands looked older than myself. I had never used hand cream either, quite shocking to say I’m beauty product mad. I’ve always thought hand creams never worked as well as the adverts said they did and didn’t understand the big hype about them.

I also think being cursed with a skin disorder and having psoriasis mainly on my hands for like 20 years has made me a bit apprehensive about putting creams on my delicate skin. Especially fragrant creams (creams that have a nice smell). But, after educating my self about essential oils and eventually realising that not all creams that smell nice only smell that way because of fragrant chemicals. I’ve happily discovered that beautiful scented creams that have essential oils included, infuses the fragrance from natural plants and fruits rather than being a nasty chemical additive that most products include. Infused is good enough for me.

So, I decided to try a hand cream out for once in my life. The Nourishing Hand Cream from Pure Aromatherapy is enriched with Jasmine and Rose pure essential oils and smells absolutely amazing –  like all creams do from Pure Aromatherapy. Using the Luxurious Hand Cream on my hands has definitely got me on board caring for my hands.

First time using this cream I was really happy and a little amazed if I’m honest with the end results. I applied a little to my palms and spread over my entire hands. After leaving to dry for around five minutes my hands appeared much younger looking and softer in appearance as well as softer to touch.

My knuckles, which are unfortunately covered in psoriasis plaques appear much lighter in appearance and don’t look so rough and dry as they did. I’ve never had soft hands in my life, as far as I can remember, so it feels very weird having silky smooth hands, ha ha. Obviously the psoriasis on my knuckles are still there but unlike before they are not as aggravated looking or red and scaly, instead they are paler in appearance and actually look like they are about to clear up.

I’m going to continue using this hand cream and I’m hoping that it will eventually make my knuckle psoriasis disappear until my next flare up. Which will no doubt happen in the future. I will keep you all updated on my progress.

So, overall thought about the Nourishing Hand Cream is just one massive thumbs up. I love how softer my hands appear and it has definitely give me the incentive to take good care of my hands and nails. ! I’m finally a lady who takes care of her hands. Woohoo!

Big thanks to Kathryn Anne at Pure Aromatherapy for changing my mind about hand cream. I guess they do work, afterall. So, this is another product from Pure Aromatherapy that has made it into my daily beauty regime.

Do you want to try the Nourishing Hand Cream for yourself? It is now only £7.75 to buy!

Luxurious Body Lotion

luxuriousbodylotion-250x250

First of all I am going to tell you all about the scent of the Luxurious Body Lotion as it was without a doubt the first thing I noticed about this cream. Orange essential oil is an absolute dream. One of my favourite scents ever!. lose your eyes and imagine sitting in a room with millions of freshly sliced oranges’ and this is how the Luxurious Body Lotion smells to me. Forget the smell of orange cordial, this orangey scent smells like real oranges’ and I absolutely love it.

Every time I put the lotion onto my skin my nose is firmly pressed to my skin just taking in the scent. It’s beautiful. The Luxurious Body Lotion is also enriched with other essential oils, Jasmine and Sandalwood but my nose definitely picks up the Orange essential oil first.
I’ll be completely honest, I was a little wary trying this lotion because when I was training to be a Chef a few years back, my tutor told me that citrus fruits’ irritate psoriasis skin causing an allergic reaction so if I handled any citrus fruit I was advised to wear gloves. I’m not sure if it is the actual fruit alone or anything to do with the fruit. So, for a few days I tried the lotion on one arm to see if I had any type of reaction. Thank God, I never, but I thought I’d rather be safe than sorry.  After the three day trial on one arm, I went ahead and used the lotion all over my body.
For the past four weeks, I’ve been using The Luxurious Body Lotion after my nighttime bath. In the past I have used Johnson’s Baby Lotion to moisture my ski, but  I hate how long it takes to dry. With the Luxurious Body Lotion I’m able to get dressed quickly as itsoaks into my skin so quickly.  I really love using the lotion before bedtime, as the scent of the lotion is so relaxing and calming and makesit me feel clean and refreshed.. My skin is also  much softer than it was before and the psorias prone areas of my body, for example,  my elbows, knees and ankles,  have greatly improved. With continued us of the lotion I’m hoping my psoriasis will stay as calm as it is now. The fragrance of the lotion is still there the next morning. It really does smell amazing. Lots of friends have commented about the scent saying that I smell lovely. Almost good enough to eat!

All of the creams I have tried from Pure Aromatherapy’s Luxurious &  Nourishing Collections have certainly had extra benefits too, as well as keeping my skin silky soft the uplifting aroma’s they have definitely made me much more relaxed and chilled. They are wonderful creams that help to relieve stress and ease anxiety too.

KANDACARE Psoriasis Skin Care Products… Shampoo, Conditioner, Shower Gel & Soothing Body Gel – Review

KANDACARE REVIEW

Hello my loves!

I’m on a mission to find the best skincare products to help my psoriasis and will be reviewing plenty over the following weeks. Hopefully I can help you decide on the psoriasis products for your skin.

Lately, I’ve been using a couple of products from a company called KANDACARE who make natural, gentle and soothing skincare products for people with psoriasis.

What I’ve Been Using

I’ve been treating my scalp psoriasis by washing my hair with the KANDACARE Psoriasis Shampoo & Conditioner which are £6.99 to buy separately or £13.65 for both. These can be purchased on the KANDACARE website.

I’ve been cleansing my skin whilst bathing/showering with KANDACARE Psoriasis Shower Gel which is also £6.99 to buy from the KANDACARE website.

Lastly, after bathing/showering, I have used KANDACARE Body Gel to soothe my irritable skin. The Gel is £8.95 to buy.

How The Products Look and Smell

The products’ packaging is really simple and refreshing. White bottles with green and blue labels that shout natural goodness. The products have a slight herby, natural, outdoors scent that has a hint of rosemary and lavender. They are not as strong smelling as your average skincare products. I love how they smell! ❤

How To Apply

Shampoo – Like with all shampoos; wet hair and scalp, putting a small amount of shampoo onto hair massage into your scalp and roots, through to the ends. Rinse all shampoo off and continue with the conditioner.

Conditioner – After rinsing shampoo off, put a good amount of conditioner onto your hair massaging into your scalps and the ends of hair to care for any split ends you may have. Wash off and style your hair as normal.
(TIP: Leave conditioner on for two minutes to deeply condition your locks. Rinse conditioner off with cold water as this will enhance shine.)

Shower Gel – Whilst showering (or taking a bath) squeeze a little shower gel onto your hands, a sponge or a flannel and proceed to cleanse your skin.

Body Gel – This gel can be used at any time but I prefer to use it after my regular night time bath. Simply put on to the affected areas, leaving it to dry and give your skin some TLC.

What I Liked About The KANDACARE products.

First of all, KANDACARE products’ are not tested on animals and are suitable for vegans too. I’m a big animal lover so this gets a massive thumbs up from me.

Secondly, the products don’t contain Parabens’ or Sodium Lauryl Sulphate.

For those who aren’t aware:

Parabens are chemical preservatives and although preservatives are sometimes important in products where water has been added, (they prevent bacteria forming) there has been a study that claimed parabens have been found in breast tumors. This hasn’t been confirmed by the medical industry just yet, but it has not been dismissed either.

Sodium Lauryl Sulphate is used throughout the world for clinical testing as a primary skin irritant. Laboratories use it to irritate skin on test animals and humans so that they may then test healing agents to see how effective they are on the irritated skin. It reacts with many types of ingredients used in skin care products and forms nitrosamines (nitrates). Nitrates are potential cancer-causing carcinogenic’s.

Finally, I loved the refreshing and calming scent. A good smelling shampoo really does put you in a relaxed good mood. The Shampoo calmed my itchy scalp and gave me great smelling, clean hair. I especially loved the shower gel and felt happy knowing I was using a safe, gentle cleanser for my skin. This will definitely replace my usual soap in future. I have used the body gel after bathing, The gel is not a cure for psoriasis (it relieves and soothes), but the psoriasis on my wrists have since cleared up. The rest of my psoriasis has pretty much stayed the same (it hasn’t healed nor got worse) What I have noticed is that I haven’t itched as much and my red, scaly skin is definitely calmer, less irritated and happier.

I also love how the products contain natural essential oils that all contribute to looking after the skin, hair and scalp.

The essential oils are:

Lavender – It has been used throughout recorded history as a skin healer and anti-inflammatory which as a result soothes and heals gently whilst reducing or preventing the chance of scars.

Bergamot – A cooling agent which is also antiseptic and is included to prevent infection.

Chamomile – Like lavender is an anti-inflammatory which boosts resistance to irritation caused by inflammation. It helps to reduce swelling and its side-effects.

Rosemary – Which has been used since ancient times to boost both the immune and circulatory systems, protecting the skin. For these reason it is excellent in the reduction/control of plaque whilst also reducing itching and pain.

What I Didn’t Like About The KANDACARE Products.

The conditioner didn’t seem to moisturise my hair potentially compared to other regular conditioners, I have bleached blonde hair which is a little chemically damaged so maybe if my hair was healthier it would have felt alot softer. Although it didn’t condition my actual hair as much as I’d hoped, the conditioner did calm my itchy scalp.
