Review: Leafy & Lovely – Summer Meadow Bath Fizzer Tablet (20p @ Superdrug)

Hey gorgeous girls,

I was in Superdrug last week, getting some much-needed retail therapy into my system,  when I seen this Summer Meadow Bath Fizzer Tablet for like 20p. Yep! 20p! You know me – I love a bargain so I had to get one. I don’t know if that is the actual price of it or if it had been reduced or not (probs). I think it is a Superdrug ‘own brand’ product too and it’s cruelty-free and vegan friendly.

LEAFY & LOVELY - Summer Meadow Bath Fizzer Tablet From Superdrug Review x

The Bath Fizzer Tablet comes in a plastic wrapper which features some gorge little flowers on it – it is also wrapped individually in cellophane. The tablet itself is a white 80g bar which is a little crumbly and it is kinda shaped like a skinny bar of soap. It smells lovely too – it’s really nice and quite perfumey.

When I dropped the tablet into the bath I was expecting lots of fizzy bubbles and chaos in the water but it was a bit of a letdown to be honest; the tablet just produced the tiniest bubbles for like the first minute or so, it didn’t fizz at all. It also took about ten minutes for it to completely melt – bearing in mind that  my hot water isn’t at the very hottest as I have lowered the thermostat thingy. So, if your hot water is hot-hot it will defo melt quicker than mine. When it had eventually melted, the water was really cloudy and the scent disappeared too quickly. My bath water just smelt like water which is a shame because it smelt lush before I put it in.

LEAFY & LOVELY - Summer Meadow Bath Fizzer Tablet From Superdrug 4So I think you can guess what my opinion of the Fizzer Tablet is. The good thing is that it hasn’t irritated my sensitive skin (I have psoriasis) which is always good. It smells lovely before you actually use it – it does contain perfume but not sure if it is an artificial one or man-made. I also love how it is vegan friendly and cruelty free but overall, it was quite a disappointment – let’s be honest,  no smell and no fizzing bubbles = a boring bath… 😂

I doubt I’d buy one again, even at the super cheap price of 20p – don’t see the point in it really but it was worth a try, hey can’t really complain for 20p.

Pop into your local Superdrug store to see what bargains they have… you can visit the website too: www.superdrug,com

Lots of love…

Review: Pure Potions – Skin Salvation Scalp Oil For Scalp #Psoriasis

I was sent a bundle of goodies from the award-winning, natural skincare brand Pure Potions last month to try out and share my thoughts about the products on my blog. I have already reviewed the Omega Rich Cleansing Oil and the Bath & Body Emollient Oil but today I’m gonna let you know how I got on with the Scalp Oil which I have been using to treat my scalp psoriasis.

Skin Salvation Scalp Oil is a natural moisturising scalp treatment, formulated as an alternative to chemical shampoos which strip natural oils from the skin and can dry out sensitive scalps. The healthy balance of oils in the scalp is preserved by the Scalp Oil’s uncomplicated natural formulas and richly moisturising oils.  The Scalp Oil is a natural oil for itchy scalps and is also suitable for people who are prone to seborrhoeic dermatitis and scalp psoriasis. It is a vegan friendly, cruelty free oil that suits sensitive and allergy prone skin thanks to the 100% natural ingredients. It contains no perfumes, parabens, palm oil, SLS, phthalates, silicones, phenoxyethanol, PEGs, mineral oil, synthetics – and like it says on the bottle NO LIES! – Pure Potions do not greenwash their products like a lot of other ‘natural‘ skincare brands. The Scalp Oil was also the winner for the natural health / best eczema range at the 2017 International Beauty Awards so it has been recognized as an amazing product.

22814160_1791514304474584_5667692779633055070_n (1)22788841_1791514821141199_2911962687622520979_n

INGREDIENTS: Helianthus Annus (Sunflower Seed) Oil, Olea Europaea (Olive Fruit) Oil, Cannabis Sativa (Hemp) Seed Oil, Borage Officinalis (Borage) Oil, Stellaria, Media (Chickweed) Extract, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract , Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Urtica Dioica (Nettle) Oil, Rosemarius Officinalis (Rosemary) Oil, Limonene from essential oils.

Borage Oil

Borage Officinalis OilThis oil replenishes the scalp with Gamma Linolenic acid (GLA) which enriches and moisturises the scalp.

Rosemary Oil

Rosemarius Officinalis OilThis oil increases the circulation to the scalp and also acts as a general conditioner and tonic for the hair and scalp.

Nettle Oil/Urtica DioicaReduces inflammation and itching and is a natural antihistamine.

Hemp Seed Oil

Hemp Seed Oil/Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil: Extremely nourishing, moisturising, rich in essential fatty acids, which are often lacking in those with dry skin.

The Scalp Oil comes in a dark green 50 ml glass bottle which has a white pump dispenser and a screw off lid. The packaging looks nice, fresh and simple and has lots of info about the ingredients and how to use, etc… printed on the label. The oil itself has a very, very runny consistency and is a transparent yellow in colour. On first impressions it smells kinda ‘minty’ thanks to the Rosemary Oil and ‘herby’ thanks to the Nettle Oil & Hemp Oil.

I did struggle at first with the dispenser – it had a clasp on the bottle neck which needs to be removed before you use it and I had trouble getting the nozzle to produce some oil but a simple turn clockwise sorted it out – the nozzle can also be ‘locked by turning it anti-clockwise. The first time I used the Scalp Oil I applied the oil to the whole of my scalp using the pump dispenser/nozzle. After applying the oil I was shocked to see that I had used half of the bottle after only using it once. I think I made a mistake by applying it all over my scalp instead of .just the areas with psoriasis. So, if you buy the oil use it only on your psoriasis to prevent wastage.

I found the oil itself really easy to use – I hold the bottle up to my scalp and just  press down on the nozzle/dispenser to dispense a little of the oil. Once I have applied the oil to every bump in my head, I then massage the oil into my scalp with my fingers and leave it on overnight. I think it is best to use the oil at night-time before bed so the oil can do its magic while you catch up on your beauty sleep. I’d also recommend you place a towel over your pillowcase to prevent any staining – I made my own DIY Towel Pillowcase made from a bath towel to stop the oil from ruining my lovely pillows. If you want a tutorial on how to make a towel pillowcase – let me know in the comments. My hair obviously feels greasy and oily after applying the Scalp Oil so when I wake up the next morning I jump into the shower and wash my hair with a natural, clarifying shampoo. I always make sure to shampoo twice to make sure the oil is washed out of my hair. I love the oil because it contains no nasty ingredients like parabens or SLS which I’m trying to cut out as I have found these ingredients make my skin and scalp a million times worse.

I have darkest black hair and it sometimes looks like I have really bad dandruff when my scalp starts to flake so I’m hoping that the more I use this oil, the better my scalp psoriasis will get and people will eventually stop touching my hair and telling me ‘you have something in your hair’ ha ha! After using the Scalp Oil about five times now – my scalp has started to feel calmer and it has soothed my itchy skin, the oil also nourishes my hair too and after washing it off, my hair feels so soft and healthy. I still have my scalp psoriasis and the oil hasn’t cleared it up but it has definitely softened a couple of bumpy scales and moisturised my scalp by giving it a little TLC & relief.

DISCLOSURE: I was sent this product free of charge for review purposes. I have not been paid for this review and the words in this post are my own and have not been influenced by the brand in any way.

WHERE TO BUY: You can get the Scalp Oil HERE from the Pure Potions website.

Pure Potions are based in the UK but they do ship their products worldwide.

Review: Monu Skin – Firming Fiji Facial Oil For Dry, Sensitive & Mature Skin

I got a generous 30 ml sample size of the Firming Fiji Facial Oil from Monu Skin in my September Glossybox and I have been using it every day since – I really, really like it and I will def be getting the full size when this bottle is empty!

Sorry in advance for the low quality images – my camera is broke!

For those of you who don’t know already, Monu Skin are a natural, cruelty-free skincare brand based in the UK and all of their products contain zero parabens, no artificial ingredients and no harsh chemicals. I’ve never had anything from Monu before and I do love my natural, cruelty-free skincare products so I’ve been very excited about this facial oil and was looking forward to trying it out on my sensitive, dull and ageing skin. I’m 30 years old now, still young I know but I’m at that stage in my life where you start to notice fine lines and wrinkles appearing on your face for the first time.  I’m gutted that my skin is not as firm or plump as it was in my teens and twenties so I couldn’t wait to try this oil to see if it worked and made me look a little younger.

The Firming Fiji Facial Oil:

The Firming Fiji Facial Oil is recommended for all skin types – especially dry, sensitive and mature skin. It is a soothing, paraben-free oil formulated to smooth and hydrate the skin. The oil contains, Rose Essential Oil which helps to soothe sensitive skin and it has a gentle, floral, mood-enchancing aroma, Hazelnut Essential Oil which is a light, nourishing emollient oil that is easily absorbed into the skin and great for combination and oily skin types and Patchouli Essential Oil too which is an exotic Indian essential oil which has a woody aroma  – it is used for relaxing and moisturising mature skin, helping it to look firm and visibly radiant.

I’ve been using the Firming Fiji Facial oil on my face to make my complexion look brighter and to help plump and firm my newly-sagging skin and make my skin look  youthful and my complexion, radiant. I have a deep frown line between my brows, fine lines around my eyes and my smile lines are starting to become more prominent so I use this oil before bedtime as an intensive overnight treatment for the whole of my face and my skin looks so good when I wake up. The oil absorbs into the skin very quickly and it doesn’t leave a greasy residue afterwards which gets a thumbs up from me as I HATE greasy oils. I’ve also been using the oil every morning after cleansing, toning and moisturising and I apply it again under my eyes, on my frown line and my smile lines just before I put my make-up on – I think it helps my base make-up to go on much smoother and helps to create a flawless finish as it stops foundation, concealer and powder from looking dry and cakey.

It is a versatile oil too and it can be used on the body as well as the face. I’ve been using a little on my hands and it literally melts my psoriasis scales and feels soothing on the skin. I love the earthly, natural woody scent it has and I especially love it for being a cruelty-free, natural skincare product which contains no harsh ingredients at all. I do try to use natural skincare products as much as possible as my sensitive skin doesn’t agree with products formulated with artificial ingredients and nasty chemicals. Natural skincare products are gentler on the skin and work so much better in the long run especially if you have skin complaints like acne or skin disorders such as psoriasis and eczema.

Where To Buy?

Like I said I have a 30 ml tester bottle and I have just took a quick look at the Monu Skin website and seen that a 30 ml bottle with an included dropper is priced at £21.95. The website doesn’t seem to stock the full-size 100 ml bottle for some reason. So, if you want to buy a 30 ml bottle you can get one HERE on the website.

I tried to find a website that stocks the 100 ml bottle and I came across it on the Look Fantastic website. The full-size 100 ml product is just £29.95 with free delivery on Look Fantastic so I would rather buy an extra 70 ml for just £8 more. I was expecting the full size to be like £50+. The only thing is – The oil is out of stock at Look Fantastic so keep checking back to see if it becomes available again. You might as well wait and get yourselves a bargain, hey. Click HERE to visit the Look Fantastic website.

P.S. – Don’t forget to check out the pinned post on my blog. I’m giving away a beauty bundle worth £125 to one of my gorgeous readers so if you are in the UK make sure you enter – you might get lucky!

Review: Visibly Clear Blackhead Eliminating Cleansing Lotion – Neutrogena

I’ve had this Blackhead Eliminating Cleansing Lotion from Neutrogena for a couple of months now. I have tiny blackheads on my nose which I can’t seem to get rid of so I thought I would give this a try to see if it helped to make them less noticeable or even better eliminate them completely.

The Neutrogena Visibly Clear Blackhead Eliminating Cleansing Lotion is a unique cleanser which is made especially to help eliminate and prevent blackheads. It works deep down to remove dirt and oil trapped in your pores, removing the impurities that can lead to blackheads. It contains a powerful blackhead-fighting ingredient to help eliminate and prevent blackheads.

First Impressions:

The Visibly Clear Blackhead Eliminating Cleansing Lotion comes in a 200ml transparent bottle which has an orange lockable flip-lid. There is information on the back of the bottle such as ingredients, how to use, etc… The packaging is quite simple and nothing special really. The Cleansing Lotion itself is a clear watery liquid which foams a little when the bottle is shook and it also has a very strong alcohol smell.

My Thoughts On The Blackhead Eliminating Cleansing Lotion:

I don’t really like how it smells, it smells quite strong and almost like vodka. I can sometimes be allergic to artificial fragrance and this cleanser does give me a little headache, so if you also suffer with chemical sensitivities, keep this is mind before buying. The cleanser also stings a tiny bit when you first apply it and the strong smells makes your eyes watery. I usually hate products that smell artificial and ‘chemical-like’ and I do tend to prefer natural smelling products. It can also be very drying on the skin so because it contains alcohol I wouldn’t recommend this cleanser if you already suffer with dry skin. I have dry skin and it has been a little bit drying on my face but I make sure to use a really good moisturiser and nourishing face oil afterwards. I think this cleanser would be more suited to those who have normal/combination skin and definitely for those with oily skin as it completely removes all traces of oil on the face.

I really like this cleanser regardless of the smell and I love how well it takes every inch of make-up, dirt and oil off the skin. It’s easy to use – just simply apply a bit of the liquid to a cotton pad or some toilet roll and wipe over the face and neck avoiding the eye area. I’ve been using it on-off for a couple of months now and each time I use it my skin feels cleaner and soft. I love the little radiant shine it gives on the skin after using too. I can’t say it has eliminated any blackheads on my nose but it has stopped any more from appearing on my face. It is great for preventing blackheads but I’m not sure how great it is for eliminating ones that are already on your face. It also hasn’t made my sensitive skin break out in a rash or pimples either which is good. I probably will buy the cleanser again as it has helped to control blocked pores and stopped any more blackheads appearing on my face.

Disclosure: – I bought this product.

Where To Buy?

I got mine in-store at BOOTS but you can buy it HERE on the website for £4.18.

Asda, Superdrug, Home Bargains, Tesco, etc… will probably sell it too.

Review: Exotic Body Wash With Organic Coconut & Organic Vanilla by Lavera (Eco Natural Products)

Eco Natural Products kindly sent me a little gift to try out on my sensitive skin and review it on my blog. It is the 100% natural & organic cruelty-free Exotic Body Wash by Lavera which is enriched with organic coconut & organic vanilla. It is a mild and gentle body wash made with organic plant ingredients and natural essential oils. It is free-from harsh chemicals and skin irritants such as parabens, SLS/ALS, paraffin, phthalate, plastic microbeads and mineral oil and it is also free of GMO’s, colourants, synthetic fragrances and preservatives. It is dermatologically approved and non-drying on the skin – making it feel cleansed, smooth, silky soft and moisturised.

Lavera is a health, beauty and skincare brand who are based in Germany. They have over 300 natural and organic beauty and skincare products which are all formulated without synthetic preservatives, colours or fragrances, and developed for sensitive skin. They also do make-up, skin-care, hair-care and baby-care as well as others.

Eco Natural Products sell natural, organic, eco-friendly, cruelty free and vegan friendly beauty and skincare products. They also sell aromatherapy products, Marseille soap, alum stone, varieties of natural cosmetic clays, natural fragrances, natural and organic make up, toiletries, washing Indian nuts and extremely hard to get Syrian Aleppo Soap. Literally everything. They have an online store as well a local shop in Bournemouth and mainly sell foreign beauty & skincare products which are not available to buy elsewhere in the UK – which makes them pretty special, hey!

First Impressions:

The Exotic Body Wash comes in a big 200 ml aqua blue and white, squeezy tube and it has a lockable white flip-lid. There is quite a lot of product in the tube, so it will last a while. The packaging is bright and pretty and the blue on the bottle is so gorgeous, it is one of my fave colours. The tube has all the relevant information printed on the back, such as ingredients, how to use, etc… The body wash itself is clear, transparent and has a smooth, gel-like consistency. It smells absolutely gorgeous too, very sweet and ‘coconutty’, I am a big coconut fan and just love coconut skincare products, so this was like actual heaven for me.

My Thoughts On The Exotic Body Wash:

Like I mentioned above it smells really lovely & nice, I absolutely love the smell of creamy coconut and sweet vanilla but I did find that the scent did not linger on my skin after using, it still smells amazing though!  I use mine as a body wash when taking a bath and I use it as a shower gel too, I just apply a bit of the body wash to a bath sponge and wash my whole body with it. I also use it as bubble bath by adding a little of the product under a warm running tap to create lots of gorgeous bubbles. I’ve even washed my face with it a couple of times too – I know it’s a body wash but I don’t care, my face feels so soft and clean afterwards. It works up a great little lather and feels so soft and gentle on the skin – before using this body wash, my skin was feeling dry and irritated and after using for a couple of days straight, (twice a day) my skin is much calmer and softer now. I love how it doesn’t contain any nasty ingredients as I find when I use skincare products with chemicals in, my psoriasis flares up days later. The Exotic Body Wash has been so gentle on my skin and I can definitely see it being a favourite of mine from now on.

I also think it is 100% great value for money as the tube has a lot of product in so it’s long-lasting and the ingredients are all natural and kind. I have found most natural & organic products that I have tried to be a bit on the expensive side, so I was surprised at how cheap this was at just under 7 quid. There is nothing at all that I don’t like about the Exotic Body Wash and I’m excited to try out some other products from Lavera to help my sensitive skin & my psoriasis.

Would I buy again?

I would definitely re-purchase the Exotic Body Wash again as I love how gentle it is on my skin and doesn’t irritate my psoriasis either. There is an Exotic Body Lotion too which I will have to try. I love discovering new brands and finding new products to try on my skin and I will certainly be browsing a few other brands on Eco Natural Products’ website to see what else I can get next. Eco Natural Products is a great little online store and they have such wonderful customer service – so I highly recommend them and I will certainly be shopping with them again.

Recommended For:

I would recommend the Exotic Body Wash to just about anyone! It is perfect for people who prefer to use cruelty-free skincare products and I would especially recommend the body wash for those with sensitive, dry and allergy prone skin and anybody who suffers with skin problems and skin disorders such as psoriasis and eczema.

Disclosure: This product was sent to me free of charge for review purposes only. I have been completely honest in this review and I have shared my own personal experiences that I have had with the product.

DIY Beauty Project: Detox Your Skin With A Bentonite Clay Bath – Great For Psoriasis

clay bath

I’m going to show you all how you can detox your mind, body and soul by taking a bentonite clay bath which will eliminate all toxins and impurities from your skin making you a healthier, happier person with cleansed beautiful skin.

The internet is an amazing place for knowledge isn’t it. I have learned so much more from the internet than I ever did at school and thanks to google I have taught myself all about the amazing health benefits bentonite clay has. After learning how it can help not only the skin but mind, body and soul – I knew I had to use it more often, not just as a face mask.

I came across a post online about the benefits of taking regular clay baths and I couldn’t wait to give it a try. I’ve never had a clay bath before, I have never had a detox of any kind before but I have lost count of how many clay face masks I’ve had in the past so this was something completely new to me. After taking just a couple of clay baths, I can already see and feel the benefits of it and it is something I will be doing a lot of from now on. Maybe twice, three times weekly.

What is bentonine clay?

“Bentonite, also referred to as Montmorillonite, is one of the most effective and powerful healing clays. Bentonite can be used externally as a clay poultice, mud pack or in the bath and, in skin care recipes. A good quality Bentonite should be a grey/cream color and anything bordering “pure white” is suspect. It has a very fine, velveteen feel and is odorless and non-staining. Bentonite is a swelling clay. When it becomes mixed with water it rapidly swells open like a highly porous sponge. From here the toxins are drawn into the sponge through electrical attraction and once there, they are bound.” – Mountain Rose Herbs

What Is a clay bath?

A clay bath is a bath with clay mixed in. It helps to eliminate toxins from the skin and body absorbing them into the water. When the clay is mixed with the water it will look dirty and similar to a muddy puddle but I can assure you it’s clean as can be. The very first time I used bentonite clay in my bath, I thought I would feel dirty and minging afterwards because of the colour of the water but I have never, ever, ever felt so clean and pristine after taking a bath in my whole life. It beats a normal bath any-day!

What can a bentonite clay bath do?

Eliminate toxins and heavy metals in the body

Removes impurities from the skin

Boosts immune system

Deep cleanses the skin

Calms and reduces symptoms of psoriasis, eczema and other skin disorders

Helps clear acne and pimples

Speeds healing of cuts, wounds etc…

Helps to cool and soothe insect bites

Prevents & removes blackheads, whiteheads etc…

Reduces stress and anxiety

Calms skin allergies

Stimulates the lymph system

Soothes sunburn and sun rash

Gentle detoxification with no side effects

Relieves headaches

Relieves body aches

Great for fatigue

How to make a clay bath?

I ran a hot bath and sprinkled 1 cup of bentonite clay into the water, stirring well and making sure to squish any clumps of clay sat at the bottom of the bath, allowing it to melt into the water.

For first timers I would advise adding one cup of powder to your bath and for an intense detox add 2 or maybe 3 cups of clay. I wouldn’t add any more than 3 though as you may suffer from stressful detox symptoms.

Fill the bath up just enough to cover your whole body, the hotter the water the better as this will open your pores thus making it quicker and easier for toxins and impurities to be eliminated and absorbed into the water.

Bathe for no more than 30 minutes. As all the toxins are pulled from your body and absorbed into the water, I wouldn’t advise soaking for longer than this. I have heard people take intense hour-long clay baths but this is not something I have tried, YET.

All you gotta do is lie down in the bath, soak, close your eyes, put some relaxing music on, chill out and get detoxing!

Do’s & Don’ts:

Don’t soak in the clay bath for longer than 30 minutes. Lying in a detox bath for half an hour or more can cause over-detox symptoms such as feeling light-headed dehydrated, nauseous and weak. Same goes for the amount of clay you use in your bath too. I’d say anything from 1-3 cups of clay is ideal and won’t cause your body any stress.

Be careful not to slip in the bath tub. Clay, when mixed with water becomes very, very slippy so take care.

Drink a glass of water before and after your bath as this will keep you hydrated.

Tie your hair up in a bun or pony-tail or wear a shower cap when bathing. The clay can make your hair feel crap for days afterwards and dry it out. If clay does come in contact with your hair just wash it with a clarifying shampoo and condition it afterwards. The clay won’t harms your hair in any way but it will make it feel rough!

Don’t drink the clay water. I know you guys aren’t stupid and you obviously won’t drink the clay water but try to keep your hands away from your mouth when bathing. After sitting in the water for 30 minutes or more it becomes saturated with the toxins from your body so the water is toxic, so you really don’t want to swallow any of it.

Where to buy bentonite clay?

The clay I have been using for my clay baths is the Deep Pore Exfoliator 100% Bentonite Clay and I order it here from Natural Supplies for £12.99.

It is a huge 1kg tub and contains nothing but 100% pure bentonite clay. It can be used for face masks, clay baths, body wraps and foot masks. It has been sun-dried, is also cruelty-free and contains no fragrance, chemicals or additives.

I have some bentonite clay from Majestic Pure, but as it is a much smaller tub than the clay from Natural Supplies, so I prefer to use it just for my face masks.

So who else loves to detox their body with a clay bath? Has anyone with psoriasis tried one? It seems to be helping my skin!
